Inktober Day 1 - Ink And Water

Inktober Day 1 - Ink And Water

Inktober day 1 - ink and water

Continuing my tradition of goofing up the first picture; a lesson in how ink and water can sometimes go horribly wrong.

Specifically, how I forgot that all but one of my cartridge pens misbehave after long periods of disuse and I used the wrong one. Louise was doomed from the start.

Inktober Day 2 - Brush Inking And Ink Wash

Inktober day 2 - brush inking and ink wash

Already time for ill-advised adventures in ink wash. Some day I'll be good enough at it that I'll use it outside of Inktober.

This Is Not A Serious Music Publication Autumn 2014 is now printed and ready to launch along with the latest issue of whatsthetimemrswoolf at Bristol Comic & Zine Fair this Saturday! I’ll be sharing a half table with sarahfogg and we will be bringing FREE MINI COMICS & ZINES to hand out to anyone interested. :) See you there!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/sammyborras £3 Shipping: £1.50 International Shipping: £7 Articles, illustrations and comics featuring Baby Metal, Damon Albarn, Gorillaz, Pixies, Bat For Lashes, Franz Ferdinand, Courtney Barnett, Honeyblood, Glass Animals, Dizraeli, Animal Collective, Roadidendren, Haim, We Are Scientists, Cecile Corbel, Adventure Time and Regular Show. "It probably seems silly to be printing a music zine at a time when music blogs are becoming a popular alternative. You can listen to the music at the same time as reading the articles and news updates are instant. We realised we don’t have the time to keep up with it all, so last year, instead of trying, we decided to create a music zine together, where we could write about the music that makes us happy! We had so much fun making the first one that we decided to make more whenever we have enough material to fill a new issue. We’ve filled this issue with music themed comics, gig sketches, articles and illustrations. We hope you enjoyed reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it!" There's still time to submit!

I count everything that arrives before I get up on the 21st as being within the deadline, so there's still two days to make/finish a piece!

Attention Woolves! Whats The Time, Mrs Woolf? Is Now Accepting Submissions For Our Autumn 2014 Issue!
Attention Woolves! Whats The Time, Mrs Woolf? Is Now Accepting Submissions For Our Autumn 2014 Issue!

Attention Woolves! What’s the Time, Mrs Woolf? is now accepting submissions for our Autumn 2014 issue! Our Autumnal theme this year is GHOSTS…

We will consider ghostly articles, comics, short stories, poetry, illustrations, recipes, instructions and how-tos, fact sheets, puzzles and anything else. If you’d like to read it when you pick up a zine, we’d like to see it! (Even if it’s not strictly ghost-themed.) For this issue we especially encourage classic and original ghost stories, and real-life paranormal experiences…

As usual our resident fairy, Poppet the House Hob, is also ready to answer questions and give advice and information to hapless humans. Questions for Poppet are always welcome!

The deadline for this issue is Saturday 20th September. Any submissions received after this date will be considered for the Spring zine.

Please send submissions to [email protected]

The format is A5, black and white or greyscale, 300dpi JPEG files. If you’d like to submit a cover illustration, the cover format is A4 (landscape), full colour, 300dpi, JPEG. Please read our full submission guidelines for further information, or email/message us with any questions.

Please note: due to life events Lilywoolf and I have decided there will be no Winter zine this year. If you are thinking of submitting we encourage you to submit to this Autumn issue! While we do accept submissions at any time, the next zine after this one won’t be printed until Spring next year.

I've Been Working On The Designs For Various Aliens I Made Up As A Teenager.

I've been working on the designs for various aliens I made up as a teenager.

These are the mysterious and secretive Shiren. They're about the size of a human 12-year-old and always wear those long robes and hoods. All the other space-faring species know about their lifestyle is that they're primarily aquatic, but able to change shape in order to move on land.

You can see I decided somewhere in between the two pictures that they should only have four digits.

Inktober Day 3 - G-pen

Inktober day 3 - G-pen

I did a couple of simple head-shots to break in my new G-pen while watching a documentary. I had a cartridge G-pen once before, but they dry out if you don't use them every few days and I accidentally destroyed it. I hope to keep this one alive much longer.

Ely and Trispin are changelings and not to be trusted.
