no i have never eaten a tomato in my life but yes i will still eat ketchup and no i don’t eat peaches or grapes or watermelon but yes i will still enjoy their artificial flavors in candy and yes i like the smell/texture/look of mushrooms but no i will never eat them and if you held a gun up to my head i could probably quickly swallow and orange slice but i would much rather get shot than have to eat a single pea and really if you want to invite me over for dinner please just give me chicken nuggets and fries with nothing else this is your safest bet yup thank you.

It seems like no one understands ARFID. We can’t just “close our eyes” or “try it out”. We literally have a d i s o r d e r. It isn’t just some little quirk or annoyance.

mayhaps this is ~making light of my mental illness~ too much but as someone w arfid, reblogging “do you like these foods??!” posts is the Funniest thing in the world. no i do not! none of them!

The ones who feel bad about calling themselves selectively mute when they only can't talk SOME of the time

The ones who feel silly calling themselves selectively mute because they're usually so talkative

The ones who can't explain why they've gone selectively mute to someone because it's the first time it's happened in front of them and you don't want it to look like you've just made it up

The ones who are constantly told "but you were talking just fine last time I saw you!"

The ones who only shut down in times of panic, and are or feel dismissed because of it.

You're not "less" selectively mute or less worthy of the name than those who are mute all or more of the time. You're not faking it. You're valid. However you feel comfortable is valid.

Anyone else almost constantly afraid of the long term damage of having arfid and possible diseases and health problems you’re going to have when you’re older? But can’t do anything about it because your safe foods are not healthy but it’s what you got and you’re afraid to try new foods and ways to get the nutrients your body desperately needs? No? Just me?

any other arfid folks feel like certain foods smell really good, but taste horrible? like you know you wouldn't be able to eat it but it still smells good. or is this just a Me thing
