I've been in Memphis on vacation with my family for the past week.  It was pretty nice; we ate at the Rendezvous, visited Mud Island, walked down Beale Street, the usual. While it was all a novel experience, one thing does stand out to me about our trip:

MEMPHIAN DRIVERS ARE ABSOLUTELY CRAZY.

I found something amazing.

Fun fact: I traveled through four different wikis before I arrived here.

Today for one of my classes, we had a scavenger hunt. My group walked all around campus, taking the least efficient route possible, just trying to find out what the clues even meant. We went over class time and gave up on the last question, only to realize when we got to the final destination that our teacher had texted us twenty minutes beforehand saying to just come whether we had finished or not.

:(

Plus, the first group to finish took ten minutes.

I made a really long post a week ago, but it got lost in the system somewhere and I had to contact support. Apparently it's a system-wide issue and they've been working on it... for a week. I'd been afraid of posting up to now because I was afraid the post would be lost permanently or something, but I've gotten tired of waiting so I don't care anymore. Expect my post count to increase - I've been thinking of ideas.

Also, there's a chance that my post may surface out of the blue. It's REALLY long. This is your warning, for those of you who check your dashboard every day.

Hey will ware you should get a Facebook. Only add people you want

To begin, let me qualify this by saying that this is a friend of mine.

Okay, now to actually answer your question: NO. You may either leave the answer at that and go on with your life, or you can read my extensively detailed reasoning below.

First off, I like being as anonymous as possible on the interwebs, simply because there are stalkers in every corner of the world who want my money, attention, or entire body for their use. Honestly, this is the least of my concerns about using Facebook, but even if I set all my information to “private,” people will still find out who I am. I’m sure people will anyway, and I don’t so much care about it as much as I seem to, but it is a thought.

Second, I won’t use the services provided by Facebook very often, if at all. Let’s discuss each of these features, shall we?

The ability to post stuff - I don’t usually have anything to say. Heck, this is my first blog post all week.

The ability to read posts by other people - I really don’t care what other people have to say in this case. I say “in this case” because Facebook has become the go-to place for posting what you had for dinner. I would have a lot of trouble caring less about these kinds of posts - and I certainly wouldn’t have any reason to read them.

Follow businesses that interest me - Not only does Facebook charge organizations for a spot on their site, but I can follow them via their own websites. Crazy, huh? It’s like there’s more to the Internet than just Facebook.

Play games - No. Just no. I have my own games that interest me far more than “Bejeweled Rip-off #341” (aka Candy Crush), and they don’t nickel and dime me to death with microtransactions. I can do without shallow flash games.

There’s only one other feature I can think of, and that’s the live chat box. I have a phone, Skype, and email, and yet I must get a Facebook account just so I can chat with you in a way that’s more familiar to you? Not doing it.

There’s also two other reasons I’m not getting a Facebook, due to annoyances. For one, I hate getting my photo taken, period, and I know people will bug me about not having a picture to my name until someone tags me in a random accidental photo that I didn’t notice. Lastly, other people will bug me to no end about “why haven’t you accepted my friend request yet” when the answer is A) I don’t know you well enough to consider you a friend or B) I know I’ll dislike having your posts about your party last night on my wall.

So, wait: Not only does it not have any function for me, but it's also annoying and an invasion of privacy?

tl;dr NO. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.

It's kinda depressing until you realize that I've had little better to do all this time. Strangely, I can't wait for college just so I can stop waiting for something else to happen.
