American healthcare is not made for normal, regular people. Trying to take care of an aging relative is insanity personified. If that relative happens to have dementia or is disabled in any way other than just being old? My god. I completely get why people turn to less than legal means. This cost is EXORBITANT. How do these people sleep at night. This is not okay.

I did it. I actually did it. I wrote what I am in a place that can be seen by others. This is HUGE for me. I’ve never said it out loud, and will probably never tell my family, but it’s out there in the world now. Wow. I’m sure for those younger than me this is nothing- pronouns and orientation and identity are a way of life. And that’s great. I’m so glad y’all are growing up so confident and open. It’s not that way for my generation. Not as bad as the ones before us, true, but the silencing pressure is a very real thing. And now I’ve made a tiny step to being honest with myself and open with the world. What a feeling.

I was today years old when I learned that when you type "otp: true" in AO3 search results it filters out fics with additional ships, leaving only the fics where your otp is the main ship
