Art advice question! I’ve been trying to practice drawing faces from more angles, but the profile or a 3/4 from the back is what kills me! I always have trouble with the mouth in those, Idk what it is, even if I try and draw in a super simplified way and only do a line it sill somehow manages to look wrong... any tips?
I don’t know how to help you when I can’t see your drawings. Maybe this can be useful:

As I said, it’s hard to fix something when you don’t even see it. Use references, draw from life, it’s the best was to understand and learn things.

a series of composition tips i’d been sharing on twitter!
and since some people had asked, i’ve put up a pdf version of this on gumroad along with a layered psd of one of the example images too
tips would be really appreciated, but it’s up for free!
Do you have any advice for flat looking art? everything i draw looks so 2D, and when i try shading it never looks right 😭
I don’t know if this helps at all, but I went with a landscape approach -

Things you can use for any drawing that will help:
- Blurring out FG and BG elements, or really any element that you don’t need to have focus on. So I wanted the eye to see the MG elements rather than the FG or BG, so I blurred them out.
- Darker tones in the FG and lighter the farther you recede.
- Heavier and thicker lines in the FG and thinner the farther you recede.
- Varying the sizes and placement of elements on the ground planes, and varying the heights and undulations of ground planes.
There are many many tutorials online for shading, depth, lighting and composition. I’m sorry I didn’t have more time to make a more in-depth one!

How I pratice drawing things, now in a tutorial form. The shrimp photo I used is here Show me your shrimps if you do this uvu PS: lots of engrish because foreign
Hi vic!! Any tips for drawing side profiles and noses?? Thanks have a lovely day ^^
Hello!
Yes I did a brief one here showing how to properly break down the head anatomy.
Here’s a more nose-erific one:

Just play around with different shapes and volumes! The shape of a face can say a lot about a character :D
Also, as always, look up reference!!!
