Since you love Apollo so much, how do you feel about Rick Riordan's Trials of Apollo series making him an abuse victim?

I actually love the trials of Apollo! There are differences in fiction and the gods my good friend! Apollo recognizes that those aren't “him” and so do worshipers, I like it as ~fiction~ and simply a book. I refuse to use it for my practice and just like seeing him being reverent times. Apollos is not an abuse victim, And he is a god, he is not a human and never will be, and he honestly wouldn't give a guck (personally) how people see him if they aren't worshipers, he has better things to do. Rick Riordan doesn't worship Apollo, he doesn't think of them still being “relevant” or real at all, like how atheists are with our religion, and how some Hellenic are with Christianity, so I see how no use how people will take that as “actual” Apollo. I don't know what point you are making personally, because I actually used to have it on Lord Apollo's alter while borrowing it from a library and he saw no problem with it, he was probably happy I sought out work with him in it even if it isn't the “actual” him and he knows I would never associate TOP with his personality. Apollo knows my worship will never change throughout time and neither will my love, I worship him, he is not my friend or family, I worship because he is my god and no fiction or non-fiction can change my love. I saw this with a mean tone, but this is how I feel. I simply see it as fiction and a way to interpret myths and then use it in modern works, not the actual god.

You are going to see some shit.

The sources of information you will find yourself digging through are more often than not full of bigotry, misinformation, fake history, cultural appropriation, self-aggrandizing fantasist bullshit, and just plain nonsense.

But you should still read it. (Just don’t pay for it.)

Dredging through fakelore and bad takes is part of the journey. I think I’m safe to say anyone who has been in witch-adjacent spaces for long enough has done this extensively. There was never one resource (or even ten, twenty resources) that conveniently had all the answers we wanted. Picking up what is and isn’t complete rubbish through exposure is how you learn.

So pick a blog or a dozen, go through their resources (because some lovely people on here make lots of time to compile lists of resources and give advice to others and they are not hard to find).

Don’t just believe what you’re told, decide for yourself. Do the things. Fuck around and find out a little

how I met hermes

while i’m sure it’s certainly cool to be chosen by a deity for worship/devotion, i think there’s something beautiful about choosing them instead. having little to no signs from a deity, but seeing them and saying “yes. yes. yes. you are the one i want to devote myself to. work on myself for. be a part of your life as you are mine.” as a practitioner and then setting forth. i personally feel like we don’t have many options in life, so it’s nice to be the one to decide.

heyybesties. so ive been looking into ancient greek lore recently (mostly for hermes) and. the transition from chiton wearing bearded messenger hermes to athletic, chlamys wearing twink hermes is extremely funny to me i had no idea he used to look like that.

anyway hermes looked especially cunty in that second image i wanted to redraw him with my own design but his chlamys is covering his hips too much you cant really tell :(
