A soul has 8 lives. Each soul has a necklace with a color depending on their life number, and it’ll be used by law by the same soul during all their lives. The necklace turns black when all lives have been used. The necklace has a few seconds glow when it’s close to their soulmate’s. Once the soul finds their soulmate for the first time, the surrounding of the gem will turn from gray to silver for the rest of its lives.

In fact, days passed and Hongjoong became used to the familiar face that would always arrive early in the morning and leave before midday. He still didn't fully understand why did Seonghwa live and work in the city but came in so early every morning, sometimes before him. After a few weeks, Hongjoong let him help with lifting the gates to open after much insisting. Sometimes he'd help restocking too or in the storage room. Strangely, ever since the day he first saw him. Seonghwa had hidden his gem underneath his shirt. He already knew he was in first life, so he didn't understand why would he hide it now. He shrugged it off, thinking that maybe he just forgot to hide it at first. He himself didn't like people to see his gem, as society could treat you different accordingly. In fact, he tried being slightly nicer and less tempered around Seonghwa considering it was his first life. Even if at the beginning he was a slight pain in the ass, he had now turned into a regular client and maybe... a friend?

Hongjoong shrugged, it was nice to have someone there besides him. That gas station was a bit afar so after a while Seonghwa's company was gladly received.

After much thinking, Hongjoong began changing to get ready to bed. He took off his shirt but a button got stuck with his necklace's chain. He groaned, his head stuck in his shirt. He decided to take the necklace and shirt all together. As he unraveled the chain from around the button, he noticed something different in his gem. He held it up, not quite catching a grip of what was it. He then noticed, the surrounding was a bright, shiny silver. He gasped and covered his mouth. Usually, purple users had already accepted their fate of not having found their soulmates in the 640 years they were given to live before. It was even more uncommon for an old soul to find a soulmate than a new soul finding its soulmate. It was usual for people to have replacements who weren't their soulmate if they hadn't found theirs, but it would never be the same happiness as the souls were not meant for each other. Still, there was his purple gem surrounded in silver. Maybe that was the reason Seonghwa was visiting so much that gas station? Someone like him would never go to a place like that. Everything fell in its place, and even though his heart dropped a little at the knowledge that Seonghwa had just befriend him cause he was probably his soulmate more than actually befriending him because of being himself, he still wanted to figure out if it was true. He couldn't see if his gem was silver surrounded or glowed from underneath his shirts, white glows are difficult to see. He only had two ways to take the gem out of his shirt.

First, he could make him trip. Put some boxes at the entrance so when he came in he would fall and the chain would spill out of his slightly unbuttoned shirt. But it could fail, and even though Seonghwa could be slightly clumsy, he doubted he was dumb enough as to not see the boxes from outside. The second option would be having to take off...

He wasn't that desperate for a soulmate anyways.

Hongjoong walked across the street, bags underneath his eyes. He barely got any sleep, less than his normal sleep-deprived nights. Hell no, he IS desperate for his soulmate. The thought of finally being able to find what most people searched during their eight lives was too overwhelming, the promise that your soulmate is someone that can love you unconditionally and be there for the rest of his last life. He wasn't going to let it pass just like that. He decided he would get to see Seonghwa's gem, no matter what. He couldn't just ask to see the gem, he didn't know if Seonghwa trusted him enough to follow an order only authorities usually gave. Even if people were obligated to use them, they weren't obligated to display them. He had come up with something anyways. If he was able to get into a "comprimising" situation with Seonghwa, he could just unbutton his shirt enough for the chain to spill out.

He reached the store and as usual, Seonghwa was already there.

"Hi." Hongjoong waved at him before beginning to open the locks.

"Hello. You look tired, were you able to sleep last night?" Seonghwa remarked as he lifted up the gates Hongjoong had already unlocked.

"I had a few nightmares, so I couldn't really sleep well." He opened the door and stepped in, followed by Seonghwa. He turned all the lights on.

"Do you wanna sleep a bit while I take care of the store? It's not like people come here anyways." Seonghwa asked but Hongjoong shook his head.

"No, I still work here and you are practically a customer. You shouldn't help me in anything in first place." He remarked, and Seonghwa pouted. He took one of the treats in stock to begin eating as usual as he chatted with him, but instead Hongjoong began walking around the place.

"What are you doing?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.

"...My boss told me yesterday to begin checking for empty items every morning." Hongjoong answered, his half created plan already in action. He desperately searched for an empty space as the storage room was the only room without cameras.

"Do you need help?"

"No, thanks." He finally spotted a place. His stomach twisted. He still had time to halt everything but curiosity took the best of him so he went to the storage room. He pulled on the farest box up there he could find, and as he thought Seonghwa followed him to the back. Seonghwa saw him struggle with the box.

"Are you sure you don't need help?" He asked. Hongjoong wasn't even close to reaching that box and even for himself it was a bit difficult. After a few attempts of trying it for himself, he figured out they both weren't going to get anywhere alone. He stood behind Hongjoong who looked back at him, confused. He held Hongjoong's waist, watching him flinch in front of him and turn his head back to his front inmediately. Seonghwa carried him to reach the box, and Hongjoong could feel his face burning already. He wasn't expecting this but it would be easier now. He pulled on the box but instead of holding onto it, he let it fall. Seonghwa immediately moved but bumped his back against the wall, falling backwards thanks to another box in an attempt to move away. And as expected, Hongjoong fell right over him, keeping his elbows stretched to avoid any damage to any of them. His neck was right in front of Seonghwa's face, and he waited for any other box to fall after the clumsy mistake. He then lowered himself a bit to be face to face with him. The twist in his stomach became worse when he noticed his plan was successful and now he was topping the older boy. His cheeks turned light pink as his eyes traveled to the other's lips. He was just a few milimeters away from his lips, he could already taste the peach chapstick smell emanating from them. He could see he was becoming slightly flustered too, his shaky breath hitting his own lips. He seemed to be hesitating way too much so Seonghwa held his cheeks and pulled him closer, pressing his lips against his and sealing the little space left between them. At first it was a timid kiss, none of them moving for the first few seconds, just getting used to the warm and distinct feeling. But after those few seconds, the kiss turned from a shy one to a bolder on, the younger boy pushing against the other to try and get closer but the whole kiss being lead by Seonghwa. He licked Hongjoong's bottom lip, and almost immediately did he give entrance for his tongue to explore his mouth. He moaned slightly when his tongue slid against his, and Seonghwa found himself wanting to desperately hear more of him. The kiss had become sloppier and messier, the urge to feel the other closer coming before anything else. As he lost all control from the kiss, Hongjoong let the other do as he pleased and roll on top of him. He gripped on his hair slightly, earning a tiny gasp from the older one. He smiled in the kiss, forgetting completely about his plan to find out about Seonghwa's necklace. He found himself drugged in Seonghwa's scent as much as Seonghwa was in his, thirsty for more of what they were already having.

The store bell ringed and the door creaked open, footsteps were heard. Out of all days... Hongjoong slightly pushed at Seonghwa's chest when he noticed he wasn't halting his actions. Still, the older boy refused to break away from the kiss so Hongjoong turned his face to a side, a thin broken thread of saliva which previously connected their tongues together falling over his check. He felt Seonghwa's lips ghost over his neck and he had to use all his will to stop him.

"...'m s-sorry, give me a moment..." He told Seonghwa who whined slightly in reply. Still, he rolled off him and sat at a side, panting a bit. He got up fast while composing himself and trying to get rid of his laid appearance. He wiped his cheek and hoped he didn't look flustered at all while walking to the front counter. It was more of a hope, as his lips were swollen and red and his eyes slightly glassy. He did his best to control his panting in vain. "H-hello,-how may I help you?"
