“Hmm according to this the next blood moon should be tomorrow. And the next full moon is also tomorrow! They are both happening at the same time! Well that’s lucky, we will only be here for today, we’ll be gone way before then!” Coran said cheerfully.

Lance breaths a sigh of relief. They won’t be here for either moon.

“All the same, we better take some tranq darts with us just in case we run into problems were we might be here longer.” Shiro reasoned. He knew missions didn’t always go as planned and he wanted to be prepared for anything.

Lance was flung into a tree by Keith’s strength. He shook his head and snarled. His prey was not going to get away from him that easily. He got up and made to chase after the now transformed Keith again but was stopped by a sudden pain that bloomed through his neck.

He shrieked and grabbed at his neck. When he pulled his hand away, he was holding a tranq dart. Angered, he looked up to find shiro several meters away, reloading his tranq gun.

Lance snarled and made to charge at shiro.

Shiro struggled to get the tranq dart into the gun while glancing up at lance. He barely had enough time to get the gun loaded before he was tackled to the ground by the vampire.

The gun flew out of his hand and landed just an inch out of reach. It was now a struggle to hold Lance at bay with his robot arm, while trying to grab the gun with the other.

Lance snapped and hissed in shiro’s face trying to get at his neck.

“*grunt* GUYS! I need some help here! Quick! Lance has me pinned!” Shiro shouted. He hoped that one of the other paladins would be able to reach them before it was too late. He could only hold Lance back for so long…

Keith isn’t baring his fangs. That’s good.

Shiro slowly approaches, holding his hands out to show he’s not a threat.

“It’s ok… everything is going to be ok…. I’m just here to help you… you’re calling for your pack right?… well I’m here… the others are waiting for you back at the castle… is it alright if I touch you?”

When he’s only a foot away, he holds his hand out. A request to pet.

Now it was Keith’s move. He could only hope that Keith would see him as a friend.

Everyone heads to their lions and flies down to the planet. They reach the area where the rebel’s distress signal came from and touchdown a good distance away. They get out and start walking towards the trapped rebels.

“So how are we going to get these rebels out of that fallen debris? Keith and I are strong, vampires and werewolf strength and all. Shiro’s got some muscle on him, especially with that robot arm. Allura is like some crazy altean Amazon…. You know what, never mind, forget I asked, dumb question. What I should really be asking is do we have enough medical experience and equipment to help these guys if they are hurt? and they most likely are.”

Shiro hide a smirk at Lance’s first question and observation. Typical silly Lance. Always stating the obvious.

Then he glanced at Lance on the second question while still smiling.

“That’s why hunk and pidge grabbed the medical gear we store in all our lions for emergencies.”

Lance blinked dumbly.

“Oh…ok good to know we’re prepared then.” He’s gonna shut up now.

Lance blinks then laughs.

“You guys are seriously having that age old debate? Lol”

He takes a minute to calm down from his bout of laughter.

“Have you two ever watched the food theory channel on YouTube? They did a theory on this very topic. And they have confirmed that the definition of a sandwich is food stuck between two slices of bread. So no, hotdogs are not sandwiches.”

“Really Keith? You shouldn’t skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Shiro chided.

Upon overhearing this, lance chimes in.

“Actually shiro, that’s not true! The most important meal of the day is lunch! Food theory did a video on that too.”

Shiro cocked an eyebrow at this.

“Oh really? And why is that pray tell?”

So Lance started rattling off the facts he heard from the food theory video. How the saying was invented by Sigmund Freud’s nephew Edward Bernays to help a company called beech-nut sell their bacon and ham products. And how they got doctors to help encourage people to see breakfast as the most important meal of the day. That scientists did a study and proved that skipping breakfast didn’t make you have any differences in metabolism and lead to any weight gain or loss. As far as why lunch, lunch was the middle ground for peak meal time. Earlier in the day, you body is in start up mode and getting the body going, while in the evening, you body is getting ready for shut down mode to process everything you ate throughout the day. Lunch was the most ideal time to eat and is the most important meal of the day.

Shiro blinked at this long explanation. Since when was Lance so knowledgable? He literally never heard Lance talk so scientifically about anything in the time he knew him. He expected this kind of talk to come out of pidge, so this took him by surprise.

He was about to respond to lance when Allura interrupted.

When Allura spoke, they all turned to listen.

A rescue mission? Wonder who they are rescuing.

Shiro frowned. “Easy there! Calm down. We’ll look for your son sir.”

Shiro looked around the remains. “It’s going to take forever to search through all this rubble…” he lamented.

“Let me give it a shot shiro.” Lance came up beside him.

Lance looked around the rubble, activating his unique vampire senses. His vision turned from normal to seeing near black. Everything was outlined but he wasn’t trying to see the landscape. He was looking for the little alien child…

He walked around, His eyes sweeping the debris, looking left to right.

After a few minutes of searching, his eyes landed on a small red dot with veins coming out of it. The red dot was pulsing… slowly…

“Shiro I found him!” Lance shouted. He rushed to the pulsing red and began digging through the rubble.

Shiro rushed over to help Lance dig the child out…
