Casual day in blackwatch

I’m such a sucker for the “enemies to allies” trope.

The two sharing a cell, laughing warmly about the good old days and times they almost killed each other.

Poking fun at each other about things the general public could never know.

“Don’t give up on me now. We’re so close. Think of that annoying friend of yours. You want to get back to them, right? Right. So get back up and let’s finish this.”

Realizing how much the other knows about them. The odd intimacy of that bond.

Tricking the villain using an inside joke of sorts - a trick one has pulled in the other in the past.

The shared look between them as one realized what the other I trying to do. Maybe a quick wink to confirm.

“Hold still, this one needs stitc— oh quit being a baby, I’ve done worse to you and you were breaking noses again the next day.”

Still hating each other with a burning passion, then realizing they both have a childish weakness for a particular food/dessert. Bonus points if it’s a weird thing that no one else likes (like Mayo on Oreos or something).

“I - um. I didn’t know you had a family.” “Of course I have a family.” “Oh. Of course.”

When the villain grabs one of them and the other sticks up for their new friend for the first time, sassing the villain and daring them to take them instead.

When one dies in a self-sacrifice. The other not knowing why they are so upset after spending a lifetime trying to kill them themselves.

“I am NOT afraid of the dark” “Oh hush, you are too. You can’t lie to me.”

Teasing each other about how bad their old outfits were.

Comparing battle scars - some caused by the other, some not. Telling those stories.

The completely unwarranted surge of protectiveness when one sees a scar on the other that they didn’t make. This was their nemesis. Theirs and theirs alone.

Similarly, “No one gets to hurt you - no one except me. Got it? Now let’s go kick their ass.”

Similarly, “No no no, stay with me. Stay with me - keep your eyes open. You don’t get to die now. I have plans to kill you and your gonna fuck them all up if you die now. Ha. There’s that smile. Just keep your eyes open, kid. We’re gonna get you patched up.”

Pressed up against each other in a small space while trying to hide. (Never gets old)

Similarly, having to cuddle for warmth when caught out in the cold or locked in a cold cell. Trying so hard to relax when this person has hurt them so badly in the past. Or, trying so hard not to snuggle in like a puppy when the warmth feels so good.

Noticing the color of their ex-enemy’s eyes for the first time.
