Guess What? Full-size, Gold-plated Millennium Rings Are Now Available!
Guess what? Full-size, gold-plated Millennium Rings are now available!
I’ve partnered with Custom Prototypes to offer them, since Shapeways can’t print gold-plated interlocking parts!

^^^ This one is stainless steel plated with 24K gold and it is BREATH-TAKING!!
If you want one of your own, shoot an email at [email protected] for a quote! Just keep in mind that something of this size and quality won’t be as affordable as a Shapeways plastic Ring!
I’m also working with Custom Prototypes to make a Millennium Puzzle! Shapeways does offer it in gold-plated steel, but check out the difference in quality:

^^^ That Millennium Puzzle is gold-plated steel from Shapeways! I think it's pretty clear which one can actually send you to the Shadow Realm!
And check out some of Custom Prototypes’ other work:

They do all sorts of commissions too, and they’ll make a 3D-model if you don’t have one. You just need to email them some pics and they’ll do the rest!
If you're interested in commissioning a gold-plated Millennium Item or any other prop, just email them at [email protected] for a quote!
All of the Millennium Items will still be available on Shapeways but this is an awesome option for higher quality, even more realistic Items! :D

For my Yu-Gi-Oh Digital Pet keychains, I created designs for new pets based on some of my favorite characters that never got a digital pet in canon. While it’s pretty obvious that Ryou’s pet was based on “Change of Heart” and Yami Bakura’s pet was inspired by Diabound, I thought I’d break down the design for Yami Malik’s pet design in a little post.

In general, I wanted the new pet designs to resemble their “owner” characters to some degree in order to make them recognizable, but I didn’t want them to just be a “chibi” version of the character in question. While U2 is basically Yugi’s hair but alive, Peachy doesn’t look like Téa at all, and Joey’s Joe is very abstract!
For Yami Malik, specifically, I wanted a design that called back to his decapitation illusion in his duel against Mai as shown in the manga. My first idea was to make him pineapple-themed, actually! I thought it would be funny with his wild hair. My first attempt looked uncannily like Bonz, and my second resembled a character from Shaman King??

I started incorporating the black star that marks a special immortal digital pet into the design as a reference to the sennen eye that glows on his forehead. Soon enough I ended up at my final design, a golden bomb with a short fuse. It carries the symbolic representation of Yami Malik as a sort of time bomb ticking in the back of Malik’s mind, it looks a bit like a head lacking a body with the nub the fuse sticks out of, and it’s wildly destructive by nature.
As for Yami Malik’s “mind room”, I expected it would be something like a prison in the back of Malik’s mind. I had some inspiration from Homestuck, where a character is trapped on a desolate and barren planet near a black hole that will soon reach it. I based the black hole in the upper right on that awesome first photograph of the black hole that was all over the news earlier this year, as well as on a rendering of a black hole simulation.
I added in Ra’s Sphere Mode as a false sun, signifying Yami Malik’s pursuit of power and destruction. And the purple planet, far away but still always visible in the sky, is where I imagine Malik’s soul room to be.
And in the back, the pet breaks through the fourth wall to escape the impossible prison planet it was trapped in, just as the black hole starts ripping chunks out of it! He’s free now, so watch out!
Thanks to everyone who has been leaving nice comments on my designs and supporting them with purchases! Designing these little friends and their soul rooms has been a lot of fun!
I'm continuing my commitment to genocide-free Millennium Items, so the answer is zero, but you'd never believe it when you see them in person!
