Painting the Millennium items

Last week I got my order from Shapeways. I started painting the items a day later. Here are some phot’s of how they were when I got them, how I painted them and the finished results.

I haven’t made photo’s of the mini millennium puzzles yet, I’ll get to that later on this week. Overal I’m happy with how everything turned out, and am glad I choose to handpaint them.

For anyone who’s interested, I got these lovely items from Shapeways, from a seller named vaguelygenius. Who took the time to model the items in a 3d program and let them be printed. How cool is that?

Just got my Ring and Cartrouche From @vaguelygenius and I love it! and it was packaged very nicely , I can’t wait to paint and wear it!

OMG a picture that isn’t taken on my crappy camera phone! I finally got a new camera and I love it so much! Sadly I lot my old memory card on my old phone so I don’t have those con photos anymore.

Anyways I finally finished the main parts of my Thief Bakura cosplay. All I have to do is the gold pieces and his wig.

Everything is made out of cotton linen and the Millennium ring was order from @vaguelygenius

I plan to wear this at Liberty city on Friday. Now to start on Rosalina.

GOIN HARD IN paint

No idk man I started FINALLY Detail painting some stuff and I’m gonna take a different approach to the coloration of the Millennium rod, though I’ll probably make the accent color a shade lighter or so What u think though Does the darker color look cool or lame as heck The middle part of the eye will have coloration too I just……. haven’t gotten there yet ya feel ( Rod was designed and printed by @vaguelygenius ! )

Xcuse my God-ugly hand but I’m FINALLY done doing the paint for the rod!!! Once the varnish goes on it always does WONDERS and I’m so ready spaghetti ( Rod designed by @vaguelygenius !)

Heck yes!! Polished White Strong and Flexible is really light and strong for its weight! Even the Millennium Rod is easy to carry around, though I think the real one would probably pull my arm out of its socket!

My Millennium Ring from @vaguelygenius arrived! (I practically ripped into the box, I was that excited.) Look at how perfect it is! It’s so lightweight too so it’s not going to be any problem to wear this all day for multiple days. Now to get some paint and a string for this bad boy.

!!! It looks great! Katsucon had better watch out, it looks like there's a high probability of black and purple skies that weekend!

Finally hand-painted the Millennium Ring I bought from @vaguelygenius! I got the paint and a $5 set of brushes from Walmart. This is two coats! No primer, though it might have helped a little. Tips include patience, a fine tipped brush for detail work, and thin coats of paint. You’ll go over the edges of the details several times to keep the paint from pooling. And yes, the spikes are a bitch. I might switch out the brown leather for a flat piece, but otherwise I’m really happy with how this turned out! Katsucon is close!
