Where is the poetry?

Welcome to my humble portfolio. All of the photography on this blog is by me or, rather, what I make of things. I somewhat defy the sense of Tumblr and do not reblog.

David Sylvian - Approaching Silence

David Sylvian - Approaching silence

Say you have heard of Japan (as in the neo-romantic pop band), and didn't like their output very much. Say you are more into drone, and bands like Barn Owl, Kandodo, Godspeed and not least Sunn have really turned your listening experience into something new - away from plain hearing towards a more vanguard (as in avant-garde) engagement in music.  Say you just loved the last Tim Hecker (as in Ravedeath 1972) output. And now you've come full circle....

Or maybe not... In some versions of this you can hear a really famous and inspiring line by Robert Fripp: "Our present position is the bridge between. But we have yet to discover it, because we're building the bridge while crossing it."

And now you've somehow moved over to post-colonialism and third space and whilst trying to imagine in-betweenness and the beyond you just want to listen to a really perfectionist, calming tune.....

Ok, I felt a bit sorry about how 'inept' that last post was. This one is not only related to the as to signify the gods series but also shows blatant use of image manipulation, but you've figured that one out, already, haven't you?

Stelae
Stelae

stelae

So this is it, the final instalment from atop the 'Art and exhibition hall of the Federal Republic of Germany'. I decided to ditch most of the shots and just go with these two, out of which one is desaturated, again... also, to present them side by side, and not as single entries. Deciding on this took quite the time, but anything else just didn't feel like being to the point. This most clearly represents what I had in mind..... I hope to general enjoyment.

These towers/columns/stelae were built as a way to capture light, which then gets redistributed throughout the whole building. On the homepage, they tell you about the threefold of architecture, painting and sculpture.... nicely put. But: photography much? Capturing light? Well, so far.....
