BEGIN/BEGAN

Fran and Kell begin weaving the flowers together while Graciela helps me. I just can't get my fingers to twist the next stem without the one I did before falling apart. Each failure fans the ember. I don't want to do this anymore.

LIE

"They have wolf's bane." Steven managed.

"Your friend doin' alright?" Did they know what was making him sick? Steven was in danger.

"We have alcohol." Connor blurted. Terrible lie.

END

"Gentle Omie," the priest says, "care for us, show your love to the loveless, put our hearts and minds at ease so that we may celebrate today." Francesca's pacing. It's almost the end. "Let us recite 'Our Lady.'"

GRIP

People gather at the edges of the square slowly. Music sounds out. Quietly at first, rising more as the crowd grows. Everyone's waiting for the song to hit its peak. When it does, people burst into the empty space, forming three distinct circles. We start by skipping, the outer and innermost circles rotating clockwise and the middle going counter. As the melody arrives at its chorus we join hands, bouncing inwards until the people in the center can't move then spreading out until we lose our grips. From there, everyone dances however they'd like until the bridge repeats at which point we do the circle thing again.

I long to kill the writers block fairy

Sometimes you just gotta write a standalone scene of your character dying a violent and meaningless death. No glory. No closure.
