I am a 19-year-old person from East Tennessee. I prefer the "she/her" pronouns, but if you refer me to as "he/him" then that's ok, too (I'm kinda used to it at this point XD). I am demisexual, but I can still laugh at a dirty joke if it's clever. I am a Christian, but my beliefs are also rooted in science. I have Asperger's syndrome, so I might have random obsessions that last a month. I enjoy drawing, writing, and playing video games. My favorite games include Pokémon, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Slime Rancher. My favorite shows include, but are not limited to: Adventure Time, Gumball, Regular Show, Invader Zim, and Rugrats.

July 4 is not our Independence Day because we were still enslaved.
However, “Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America.”
Even though slavery technically ended in 1863 (before the 13th Amendment was even put into effect), it took two years for word to reach Texas. June 19th, 1865 was when the last of the slaves where notified that they had been freed.

I have to confess something:
I know it's taboo to say this, but I'm proud to be an American. I'm proud of how diverse of a country America is, and how the cultures of different countries blend together from people coming from overseas for the American Dream. It deeply saddens me that the Trump Administration is deporting people and defunding Planned Parenthood. They are trying to take away our basic rights, and that is against the Constitution.
This is really only my opinion, and it is not to be taken as fact. I'm just typing my thoughts out. XD

the internet is an inherently haunted place if you think about it like. it's so weird to see long abandoned discussion boards stuck in a snapshot of the past, old conversations between kids from over a decade ago who have now grown into their own lives, obituaries taking the form of half finished profiles. and the silence that fills the gaps between. there's a constant ghostly record of each generation's thoughts, fads, their sense of humour. back when the future was at their fingertips. even stranger, people you used to know exist openly in that space, and they watch you watching them. if you want, deceased musicians can play through your headphones. there's always an underlying sense of reminiscing and time escaping our ever shortening attention spans. what a fuckin graveyard

Happy Fourth of July! I arrived in this country in the last week of October 2009. I became a naturalized citizen in the last week of June 2013.
What I like best about living in the US: 1. the stunning national parks (my favorite is Glacier National Park, then Sequoia and Kings Canyon) 2. the well-organized public libraries (whether you go to Boston, Los Angeles-Central, or Huntersville) 3. the diverse cuisines in some cities (Afghan, Ethiopian, Moroccan, Peruvian, Cambodian, and various regional cuisines are also represented)
As we approach 4th of July this year please think of people with anxiety, PTSD, and sensory processing disorder as well as pets.
Consider taking your fireworks to open areas outside of neighborhoods or out of town. If a neighbor has made it known that they struggle with loud noises you can do the courtesy of agreeing to set times, and always respect the noise ordinance.
We all want to have fun but let’s not do it at others’ expense!
