You love how Xiao always tried to soften up for you whether his effort paid off or not. It was the thought that counted, the fact that he wanted to try in the first place. You knew it was hard for him.

You love the way his face would so subtly light up when you got back to the Inn after a particularly lengthy day of commission after commission. No one else would notice the change in his expression, but you could read that man as though he were an open book.

You loved the way Xiao grumbled in "annoyance" when you pulled him into a tight hug, though, his hidden desire to be held was always betrayed by the way he wrapped his arms around you a little tighter and nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck to be even just a tiny bit closer. There was never a time you failed to reciprocate, always holding him so close that you two might as well have been one.

You loved the way he hummed without noticing. When the two of you would sit quietly, simply enjoying one anothers presence, Xiao often subconsciously started to hum. You never knew the tune that was in his mind, but you didnt dare ask in fear that he would be far more conscious about not humming anymore.

You loved the way he naturally grabbed your hand when you walked together. At first, you were the one to initiate hand holding, but now that you had been together for so long, Xiao always grabbed your hand the moment you two started to walk side by side. It became a natural response to walking with you- so much so that it happened as easily as breathing.

You could never get enough of Xiao when he was sleepy. He had the most adorable yawns that displayed his cute little fangs, his eyelids fluttering with the threat to permanently close for the night. The way he stretched while lying in bed with you made him look like a sleepy kitten, only aided by the fact that he held you so close that it could be called posessive, all snuggled up to your side. He looked so peaceful when he slept, and you cherished every moment of it because, just like he always said, Adepti didnt need sleep. The way his breathing became even and gentle, the way his face and shoulders relaxed, the way he would wrap his entire being around you- it was so addicting that you were now excited to go to bed with him every night. It was like a little Xiao nest, and you were the precious egg resting in the middle. You loved the sound his his gentle heartbeat when you laid on his chest (an action he always encouraged in bed, especially when you were frightened by something) and made an effort to memorize it, even though you knew that memories would never compare to the real thing.

You loved the way Xiao seemed so intruiged by your knowledge on biology. Whether he was doing it just to be nice or because he was genuinely curious, he would always have at least a couple of questions about whatever mundane weed you were crouched down looking at. You knew just how much Xiao cared from the day you peeked around the corner of the Wangshu Inn kitchen and caught him intently reading a book on the "Biology and Ecology of Liyue" from a stack of several similarly named volumes. You didnt say anything, not wanting to fluster him,but it warmed your heart so much that you had to step out of the Inn just to prance around and giggle like a fool.

There wasnt a single thing about Xiao that you could think of that you truly didnt like. Sure. there were times when he had a less than savory attitude after three nights in a row of non-stop demon control, but you knew you would get that way too if you had to do it. Not everyone understood Xiao- in fact, most didnt. When your friends found out that you were with the Conqueror of Demons (of all people), they werent as enthusiastic as you had hoped. They only knew the Vigilant Yaksha, General Alatus, the Conqueror of Demons- not Xiao. Not your Xiao. You didnt mind though, and you still dont, because all that matters is the fact that you love him more than life itself, and he loves you more than anything he had ever known was possible.

This artpiece was drawn during @shepscapades hermit character-design event all through june. The artist M.C. Joifee was inspired by the painting "Ophelia" by the british artist Sir John Everett Millais, drawn 1851-1852.

The imagine depicts xBcrafted lying inside a shallow river in a similar pose to Ophelia in the original painting. Other than Ophelia his eyes are closed, making him appear more peaceful than Ophelia. He is surrounded by floating cherry-blossom, choosen by the artist due to the current 1.20 update of minecraft, which introduced the cherry-grove biome.

The river is surrounded by minecraft-typical fauna. On the shore of xB's right side is an azalea tree is growing from the ground. On the left side sugarcane is growing next to a sandy beach. On the left side of the picture, parts of a stone bridge is visible. Possible a bridge build by xB himself or another unknown to us hermit.

Floating particals let us assume that theres a sporeblossom and a cherry tree nearby.
