Reddit is extremely funny sometimes

I can relate to this on every level
by far the best reblog, thank you
Fresh news from Hubble, and it's a real doozy this time: it found a runaway supermassive black hole.
Let me repeat that:
A runaway SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE.
Half the universe away, an immense object born of concentrated primordial chaos, so powerful it once bound an entire galaxy together, hurtles through the intergalactic void. Its flight through the cosmos so unfathomably violent that it leaves a stream of newborn stars two hundred thousand lightyears long whirling in its wake. Gas and dust in the space between galaxies is spread so thin a particle might never touch another for a million years, and yet this escaped galactic core has dragged the matter in its path into fusion.
What a universe we live in!

Given how humanity reacts to life in general, can we picture the INSANELY good memes that would have been made in the Martian universe while they tried to rescue Watney?

"birds aren't dinosaurs" ❌ wrong, misinformed, way too common
"all vertebrates evolved from fish, and are therefore technically fish" ✅ mischievous, technically true if you look at it from the right angle, demonstrates how cladistics work
"whales are fish but not for the reason you might think" 😈 this is funny to me specifically
Whales technically being fish is the funniest about face evolution has given us
I mean that was the next best option bc amniotes turned off their gills 300mya and it's pretty hard to get those back after that length of time

Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol
I spent 20 whole minutes on this, laughing like a maniac the whole time.

Taxonomy Tournament: Arthropods

Xiphosura. This order is made up of horseshoe crabs, marine arthropods whose bodies are covered by a hard carapace. They mainly feed on worms and molluscs on the ocean floor. The blood of some species is harvested for LAL, which is used to detect and quantify bacterial toxins
Diplopoda. This order is made up of millipedes, elongated many-legged detritivores which feed on dead plant matter, though some species eat fungi or drink plant fluid.
