That awkward moment when reading the Carry On series when I realize when Agatha says she doesn’t love Simon in the right way it isn’t because she got bored or fell out of love. It’s because she’s gay. Like, of course you don’t love him ‘the way you’re supposed to’. You’re into women.

I feel slightly stupid.

I have so much respect for Agatha. She lived a life that we all dream of. She had magic, went to a magical boarding school, had a boyfriend who was a 'golden boy Chosen One', and had stability. But she saw that she was being used, saw that the world she was living in was toxic and cruel, so she ran away from it. She left her world and went to California, leaving everything she knew behind to start anew. If that isn't courage, I don't know what is. She deserves a little more credit than what she gets is all I'm saying.

Finally finished Any Way the Wind Blows. This was a wild ride again and I always enjoy seeing what I notice on a reread. So, here are some (mostly AWTWB) thoughts.

I finally got the message of the Simon Snow trilogy. They aren’t broken, they just trusted people who they were meant to trust. Simon never wanted to be the Chosen One, the Mage just told him he was. Baz never wanted to hate Simon, he was just told to because of the war.

I’m so happy Agatha found Niahm. I know that a lot of people think she’s aro/ace but it’s still a good conclusion for her.

My favorite scene is still the ham sandwich scene, closely followed by chapter 61, the Cheesecake Factory and the scene where Simon finds out who his family is.

I still hate the Mage so much. He had some good ideas but he still caused so much damage to the people in his life.

I love how Lady Ruth and Baz are gossip buddies about Smith. They hate him so much because they already have their Chosen One.

Simons little progression of not texting Baz back to finally talking to him to eventually calling him is so great. Almost as good as the not touching/hand holding/making out in the woods pipeline from Carry On.

Anyways this trilogy is so great and I already can’t wait to see what I notice on my next read.

I know after CO folks would gleefully ask about how Agatha felt about Simon and Baz dating, and I really liked how it was handled in the books cause it was really realistic and respectful. So to get some revenge for my girl I want to know how Baz and Simon react to Agatha and Niamh dating?

I don't think smut scenes are supposed to make you cry but clearly Rainbow Rowell didn't get the memo because "If I want him warm, I have to do it myself" and "I can see him, even when I cant, even with my eyes closed- I know him too well" and "Is this was people do? Get as close as they can and then push closer? Burn each other into every gap? And then what? Then just tomorrow and more?" and "Just kiss me for the sake of kissing me" and "I want my sheets to smell like you" and "Be gentle with me...even though you don't have to" and "Don't say please. Why not? Because you don't have to. I'll give you whatever you want" and "I couldn't break him if I tried. I won't try" and "Is this what he wants? Is this what I'm allowed to take?" and "I was never magic" and "Is this magic? Is this enough?" And now I'm sobbing.
