ALL DARK ALL BLOODY MY HEART: Character Study. - Tumblr Posts
burgeon employing 'natural insect hunters' which essentially means animals like bluebirds, as well as owls + frogs to control the amount of pests in his garden (which is honestly a HUGE place and has a spiral staircase + this is where you will find it most of the time) because he refuses to use pesticides is honestly... kind of iconic of him when you don't think about all of the atrocities it has committed JSJSJ i mean, because there have been studies done to show that they negatively affect other thing's besides insects themselves, such as the soil of the plants you are putting it on itself and non-target plants along with other creatures.
so you better bet that blamore has some thing's inside his garden that attracts these animals and he treats them kindly. and now that i've mentioned it, i suppose his appreciation for nature is one of the better qualities that blamore possesses — though i think it's bitterness towards humanity in general has still very much left him feeling lonely, and just having the occasional animal as company is not sustainable for it. which i think is part of why blamore has forged a bond with nico morselli because he is one of the few people who he can trust will not cringe at the sight of it / think less of it because he is vastly different from the person he used to be.
GOD. i was just thinking about the sort of circumstances that might cause blamore's desire to help people show through once again and/or just situations where he would be kind to someone in particular, which i get might be kind of unexpected, BUT it is still capable of showing human compassion towards other beings or people. and the first instance that came up in my mind was someone who has been abandoned / feels like they don't belong anywhere because they're too 'different' to fit in with other people and they express this through doing thing's that they normally wouldn't as well as by lashing out at people. and if i'm being honest, this is because he's been there and so it's hard to look at someone + fail to be kind towards them when he can connect with them — you know?
so, now i'm just imagining it helping someone it's come across while he's doing his power broking thing, because he realized that this was someone who truly felt like they lost everything. and they didn't even really care at this point whether they lived or died which... is really sad, to say the least. thus, blamore mayyy try to take them in and give them someone they could depend on, which would be him in this case and of course, would that always be the best thing? probably not but this something that it would do without any ulterior motive behind it SO that's something, i suppose (,: so basically what i'm trying to say is that blamore is liable to ' taking in strays ' especially who it sees itself in
blamore when he's in love with someone is like the epitome of ' how deep is your love. ' and honestly, in addition to that song being a banger (the bee gee's has made a lot of those in my opinion though NGL LOL), i say this because it really is that lover who silently wants their partner to give them ALL of their love and who is that ride or die whom won't let anyone break them down + will always have a 'it's both of us versus the world' mindset.
because whenever it comes to love... it is all or nothing with blamore. which means he will be completely devoted to whoever this partner at the time may be, and will kind of have an unspoken expectation that they'll also be devoted to him, but in a very sweet way like twin-flames or something. Because, and don't tell it i said this (nahhh, i'm just kidding around with y'all LOL i know he isn't real ofc but you know the vibes), the plant-hybrid is sort of a romantic deep down
so, like, although blamore and one of my other characters are VERY different ofc ( and this other character in particular would be barton ) ... there is one thing that they have in common + that is that they believe in the fact that no one should be killing kids. though there is an important distinction between blamore and him whenever it comes to this and this is that, it IS willing to try to scare younger vigilantes like robin for example into thinking that it would hurt them with threats and stuff. which isn't right either OFC but blamore, in his mind, thinks that it's far better than the alternative. so he would do thing's like point the sharp end of his tail towards a vital point of theirs and threaten them if they were a vigilante / hero, but he wouldn't dare actually pierce their skin and is ALWAYS going to aim for incapacitating them rather than doing any serious harm to them.
( think of like handcuffing them to something with a bone or just with their hands + feet restrained with one because there ain't no WAY that he's taking the risk of leaving them being able to move their feet JSJSJ or, if he has to and since he does carry them around with it, just kind of... using the powder form of anaesthetic herbs to disable them through skin contact and/or inhalation 🫠 because no matter what way you look at it, even though there are some chokes used in martial arts that are viewed as 'safe,' they could go wrong somehow and cause someone grievous harm to blamore. thus, even though it's still arguably pretty morally questionable at the very least to force someone to be dazed and/or in a sleep-like state, he isn't going to do CHOKES on a dang kid. )
and whenever i say 'kids,' it also considers anyone that is 21 and under to be one because of it's background in psychology + the fact that your brain isn't fully developed until you're about 25 comes into play here too. so blamore's nature as an herbalist also does come into play during fights sometimes. but yeah, so he would go ' WTF ' if someone tried to seriously hurt or kill a kid in front of him because even blamore has lines that he is not willing to cross despite seemingly being this ruthless person who wants to restart EVERYTHING. and he will falter whenever it comes to some things. and it would tell them to get behind it if someone was trying to hurt them and actually isn't a bad caretaker if one were to somehow get stuck with it for a time, because blamore is VERY capable of being like a guard dog guys, ngl ☠️ LOL
How does your muse sit? Do they take up space, or keep to themselves?
AHH, before i say anything else, first let me say: thank you for sending me this ask! it always makes me so happy whenever i see people send me stuff :) and honestly, i feel like this is an interesting question because the way i see it, the manner in which a character carries themselves alone could say a LOT about them, i'm not gonna lie. so i am glad you asked!! and now, allow me to give you the best answer i can in relation to this: blamore does absolutely take up space whenever it sits somewhere, and i think that a big part of why this is partially due to perhaps confidence that is a little performative on it's part, BUT that is also genuine as well.
and i know that that might not make complete sense without context because i myself think that my method of explaining things sometimes can be confusing LOL. though, i promise that i'll explain what i mean in a second. this is something that i've only briefly touched upon in both blamore's carrd and in an earlier post on here thus far + as such, i'm going to talk about it more in depth here, but even before it's transformation — blamore was someone with a 'big' personality and this sort-of showed through him seeming to be full of confidence as well as being quote spontaneous, especially for someone who seemed to have such a laid-back father. it's also important to know that blamore's father was also very supportive of it, however, though he felt like he couldn't express who he really was while he was still in annecy with thérèse. for, as you may be familiar with, thérèse was... well, there's really no other way to put it besides that she was abusive and as a result, blamore felt like he always had to be walking on eggshells around her.
this is done in order to try to prevent or minimize any future occurrences of upsetting the abuser. but unfortunately, this rarely works and when it does, it's only temporary. and so for a while, blamore had lost his sense of self because he basically conditioned himself to only focus on what was happening outside of himself. and as a result, he had stopped listening to his inner voice for a while as a child, which is not a good thing but blamore viewed it as the only way he could possibly survive around her without completely breaking down so one can understand why he did it. it is also a common occurrence with those who have been abused, and although sacha (blamore's father) had tried to help his child heal from all of the psychological / emotional trauma that it endured at the hands of it's mother (which was made unknown to him by thérèse until he found her physically lashing out at him) with therapy as well as much positive reinforcement from him as possible that he could be the person he wants to be without having to fear that he'd be punished or ridiculed for it... there is still a part of it that is affected by the psychological abuse that was inflicted on it as a kid.
because it has made him chronically angry and self-tortured deep down inside, so although his true personality HAS been allowed to flourish in the years that proceeded sacha and its move to gotham, sometimes blamore falls into what he considers to be a 'bad habit' and be at least somewhat insecure about his identity / personality. so, yeah, although blamore usually always appears to be a very 'loud and proud' person on the outside that let's everyone know that he exists by completely sprawling out or just sitting in positions that call attention to him in general whenever he sits somewhere + gives them this idea that he's not going to let ANYONE make him feel like he can't take up space? sometimes, he feels like he's a kid all over again and one who doesn't know who he is.
and i can't lie, it is really sad. not to mention that it took blamore a while just to become even halfway comfortable in his skin the way it is now because, as far as medical doctors like nico morselli are concerned, it's downright PUZZLING that he's still alive with the way he is now and to suddenly be thrust into being dehumanized by so many people was... very disorienting for blamore, to say the least. but he's tried his best to turn this dehumanization on its head by trying to embrace that he's something else other than just human now. but yeah, i know this was a bittt long, but thank you very much for the ask again! and i hope you're having a GREAT morning thus far :)
Is your muse a good kisser?
OOH — now, this is a question that i was surprised, albeit pleasantly to get 👀👀 thank you for the ask by the way, PJ!! it really means a lot to me that you're interested in little ol' blamore (little JSJSJ ahh, who am i kidding, it's 6'6" LOL) BUT anyhow... let's get right into all of the juicy details of this question. to put things bluntly, blamore IS a good kisser, yes. and i say this because whenever he starts out with kissing someone, he doesn't rush into it. blamore thinks it's important to demonstrate gentleness and respect towards someone else when you're in a relationship with them, especially if you're kissing; so one of the first things that'll it'll do is do a LITTLE bit of pulling in at first by putting a hand on it's partners neck / cheek (it just kind of depends on their positioning) and he'll maintain eye contact with them, though not to an uncomfortable degree, of course LOL.
and then from there, blamore will lean in while JUST barely opening his lips + will sort-of 'fit' his lips between the other person's by putting them around the top or bottom lip of the other's. after that, the man will just lean in and do what you might expect a soft kiss to be like: to apply a little suction to the other person's lips, but at the same time, express his love for this person / whoever they may be the best way it can by being fully present in the moment and making sure that it's done in such a way that both of them will enjoy it. because, i mean, that's one of the main things that kissing someone is all about to blamore: as if both parties aren't enjoying it, then there isn't going to be chemistry and you also have to match the others energy / rhythm. and voilà! those are basically all of the big reasons as to why blamore is a good kisser (:
he also uses chapstick to keep his lips smooth, especiallyyy before kisses, because the texture of your lips is something that's important as well to him because you aren't going to want to kiss someone again if they have dry / flaky lips. and trust me when i say that it always makes sure it's breath is ✨️ fresh ✨️ before he kisses someone so they'll have a good memory of... EHEM, what it tasted like, for lack of better words lmao. but yeah!! that's about it for the reasons as to why blamore is a good kisser, but i hoped you liked my answer to this!
so, i have talked about mental health and the struggles that my characters have with it in particular before, BUT i have yet to do so on this account. thus... i'm going to touch upon how blamore has bipolar 1 disorder and how that affects its daily life. here's just a little background about bipolar one in particular just in case y'all don't know a lot about it — bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that is usually characterized by periodic albeit intense emotional states that affect a person's mood, energy, and ability to function. these periods could last anywhere from days to weeks, and there are usually two types of mood episodes. though some people also experience periods of neutral mood as well. the first of these two types are manic/hypomanic, in which the main mood that the person will be in will either be intense happiness or irritability.
the other kind of mood episode is depressive episodes, where the person affected by bipolar disorder is in an intensely sad mood or the ability for them to experience joy has seemingly disappeared. the onset of when blamore realized it had it was when it was twenty after having a manic episode, which led to him having to be hospitalized because it had experienced what is known as psychotic features (esp. disorganized thinking and hallucinations) along with the normal but also severe symptoms of a manic episode: increased risky or impulsive behavior, decreased need for sleep, and uncontrollable racing thoughts, just to name a few.
and i have done some research about it that states that mood-stabilizers / anti-psychotics, as well as psychotherapy, do help to treat it (though meds are usually the main way to, it seems) which i think blamore immediately tried to take after being told his diagnosis because it had encouraged him to make some bad decisions regarding his academic life + he was having trouble with maintaining his relationships as well and felt like his emotions were so heightened that he felt hopeless. i mean, to the point where it was crying and screaming into it's pillow every night.
so blamore decided to seek treatment after a bit of time spent in reluctance to accept that what he had was bipolar disorder, because at first, he just wanted to believe that he was depressed. and after trying out several medications along with different regiments, it seemed like it'd finally found something that worked for it. so blamore was doing well and thriving, in fact, for a while with just a little extra help from its meds. which is definitely possible for someone who has bipolar disorder to do, of course, because your diagnosis isn't who you are. and it is treatable like i mentioned previously.
now, however, is... a slightly different story. blamore has tried to return to taking medication for his bipolar disorder with the same dosage + regiment in general, but because he has an accelerated metabolism, it affects it's body differently now and has led to it experiencing some side effects that are pretty unfavorable in it's opinion. so it stopped taking it at that dosage and has now been switching between meds at the lowest possible one to try to find the right prescription, though blamore does sometimes forget to take it + has gotten sort of frustrated with it seeming to have no effect on him. so he may or may not be teetering in between the decision of just stopping it altogether.
though yeah, right now, the general gist of it is that blamore takes a drug for it at the lowest dose... inconsistently. so he may be prone to forgetting to take it for like a few days, or possibly longer and because of that, the meds may not have had enough time to work within him properly for lack of better words. and he has had several depressive episodes over this time as well as one really bad manic episode with perhaps some hypomanic ones that had gone undetected. thus, thing's are a bit complicated for him right now, to say the least and he is suspectible to experiencing more severe mood episodes again. buttt yeah,, i just thought i'd give y'all a little insight as to what having bipolar 1 has been like for blamore + how it tries to manage it today. i hoped you all liked this longer drabble of mine (':
okay, SO although this account is based on a heavily canon-divergent and reworked version of mister bloom, there are some thing's that he says in the comics that i think are REALLY accurate to blamore's way of thinking and/or something that he'd say because he does have this mindset that gotham is past the point of saving... so it would be better to just raze it all to the ground. BUT in such a way that will make it seem like a revolutionary because it preaches that it wants a 'better life' for all gothamites + that they should rise up and TAKE what they want, though he is in fact turning people against each other in the process and killing people because some people don't survive consuming a seed at all... and the ones who do STILL tend to die later. so this is the biggest panel that i think still relates to it:
as well as this one, because blamore really DOES sometimes believe in his own hubris that he is a savior and someone who will bring a new beginning to gotham that everyone needs. except no one will be there to enjoy it besides maybe him and a few others, so his logic is beyond flawed. though i truly do believe that the immense amount of stress he was put under combined with actually dying for about three minutes made something snap in blamore... though, that doesn't excuse his actions or anything he does, of course. i'm just saying that it may do a good job of pretending like it's okay a good amount of the time, but it is SO angry and full of resentment towards humanity in reality. because blamore spent what was about eight years of his life studying to help people and years actually doing so as well, but in his point of view, it didn't seem to help. especially after blamore's father got shot.

sooo... what if i told y'all that, when i say that one of blamore's powers is bone manipulation, that it could literally make a DRILL made out of bone through it's god damn hand / around it's whole arm and could summon bones from inside of it's skin? because it honestly is one heck of a superpower to have, though with this comes weaknesses like the more bones he summons, the more energy he depletes — and thus it can become physically exhausting rather quickly for it to use it's powers. so, it's got to use its powers very wisely and prefers to end fights as quickly as possible as a result.
but whenever it comes to adding bones to its tail + contorting it's ribcage then things get a little bit more complicated,, because these are simple things for it to do in comparison to literally pulling random bones OUT of it's skin and such. though if you were to break its ribs, then it would hurt and let me tell you, there is a reason why blamore NEVER let's people it doesn't trust touch its tail because if the person it is fighting is capable of breaking any of the bones in it... it is going to hurt with a capital ' H. ' but yeah, i just thought i'd share this little tidbit with y'all about its bone manipulation power. because once again; blamore isn't invincible, though he is stronger than some may give him credit for (':
i think that the idea of the plants that have now sprouted from blamore's body having a little bit of sentience to them, kind of like how you'd expect them to be in real life, is lowkey such a fun idea because like — although plants do not have a centralized nervous system like humans do, there has been multiple studies done on them that prove that they do produce electrical impulses. these can move them towards light using turgor pressure to help them during their development.
they also respond to their environment (albeit on a more 'primitive' level, i guess you could say) by growing their stems, roots, or leaves toward or away from stimuli through these electrical impulses. and one more important thing to mention is that plants can communicate with each other. though, not at overly long distances. which is something that i wanted to bring up because this means that blamore's plants can technically logically move in the presence of things that are perceived as 'threats' by them; like, for example, someone's hand.
thus, and i have actually done one roleplay on here that featured this with em, if you were to try to touch its plants in say its ribcage... then it's possible that they will move away to get away from 'danger.' though, as i mentioned before, plants don't have the same understanding of it as humans do / we do and so i guess you could say they're not really intellectualizing what is happening. they're just kind of depending on sensations like pressure in order to try to defend themselves and do this through the use of electrical signaling / sometimes hormones. however, i still think it's neat to think about LOL

blamore being obsessed with just... casually running his hands across it's partner's skin if they are human, or at least humanoid in nature during their downtime, because the only skin that has really been 'untainted' in his mind by his transformation was on his face and on his back — so knowing what it feels like to have it again in a way almost makes blamore fascinated with them and that's just JSJSJ
“Died and came back wrong” trope but no one notices because they came back alone. They can’t find those they were close to before, so they have to assimilate back to the land of the living among strangers. Everyone else just thinks they must’ve always been like this. The anguish of knowing they were something else before, something better, but have no evidence or anyone else to confirm this. No one to help them get back to who they were.
so i've been playing with the idea that, since some of the plants that are now a part of blamore's body are perennial's (which means that they will go into dormancy / the plant version of hibernation around when winter starts), that blamore tends to get extra careful around the winter month's and will go out less often.
and this is not only because its plants are vulnerable since most plants won't be able to survive frost collecting on them — but also because this period of having its plants basically restoring themselves during the winter by breaking down proteins and remaking them does take more energy out of blamore (as any chemical process within plants or animals requires ATP, or energy to happen, i believe).
thus, he tends to get tired more easily during this period; which could be bad news for him in regards to heroes being able to stop him and what-not. though the cold, in general, is actually something that could be VERY dangerous to blamore. that is, if he were to be exposed to it without some kind of protection, and/or something to keep him warm.
because (and i believe i've briefly mentioned it once before) it also has trouble with maintaining its body temperature due to its hypermetabolism, especially in severe conditions such as super cold weather. so yeahhh. should your muses ever see blamore out during the winter, it'll be wearing layers upon LAYERS of clothing since it is not out here trying to get hypothermia
