Ya know how in official mojang promotion material, Alex is shown as the more adventurous one and Steve as the more cowardly one? Well I just had a think, Steve has been here for much longer, since back when the world was small, simple. He's been exploring stuff for as long as there has been stuff to explore.

He's been exploring for as long as there have been things to hide away from.

He has been exploring, for as long as there were things, exploring him.

Alex wasn't around to experience herobrine. She came after that happened. But Steve? Steve has been exploring. Steve has seen what there might be, just out of reach, just out of sight.

If you saw something empty, wearing your skin, your body; watching you, just out of reach. Would you not be scared too?

Steve is cowardly because he's seen what may be out there. And he's seen what is definitely out there.

Always just out of sight.
