Allison X Patty - Tumblr Posts
This post is brought to you by Reddit kcfh discourse, which is still perpetually stuck between “If you only half pay attention to the show and are trying to be as contrarian as possible Allison is just as bad as Kevin” and “I didn’t even see any romantic feelings from Patty->Allison!”: One of the things I love about s2, even the last scene as it pertains to Allison, is how hard Allison is being on herself for how she treated Patty in s1. She tries to bounce back in the first episode and act like Patty coming back and saving her from Neil negated their entire argument, but Patty shuts her down and after that Allison is entirely convinced their relationship has ended and the best thing she can do is get Patty to not completely hate her when she is gone. -an aside here that the entire premise of s2 is Allison going “How can I improve Patty’s life after I made a mess of it by getting her involved with mine? Oh yeah, I could *fucking die*”- Patty shuts her down every time Allison tries to get closer. The only time they get to just enjoy each other’s company without worrying about the plot is when they are both super wasted. When Allison tells Patty she wants to stay she has *no idea* how Patty will react, because as much as she wants it to be different she thinks Patty is really just tolerating her until she leaves her life forever. When Patty tells her to stay she won’t even let herself smile. Allison can’t even bite back against Neil or talk back to Tammy even though they both deserve it and Allison is 100% in the right, because they both turn it around on her and Allison hates herself too much to disagree. When she comes back in the last episode she’s making arrangements to guarantee she is able to stay before she even tells Patty, and then when she finally sees her she’s terrified because even though she’s put all this work into their reunion she has no idea how Patty will react. There’s a drawn-out pause as Patty stares at her, like is she going to yell at her or *hit* her*? And then, even after Patty hugs her and they are sitting on the porch Allison is *still* nervous when she says she wants to stay, and is giddy when she hears Patty’s answer. All that to say I’m still annoyed with the final scene and think it portrays a toxic dynamic, but not because Allison is using Patty or any of that bs.

Have sex, damn it! It will appeal to a demographic of millions!
Is Fade Away and Radiate a Pattison song? What’s it supposed to be about, anyways? Oh, James Dean? Yeah, Patty can be James Dean, as a treat.
rewatching Scream 2 and realizing the I Think I Love You scene in Braindead was definitely referencing it, and that Allison drunkenly singing it to Patty (possibly with Jenn and Sam as backup singers) is a completely valid confession scene
re: AU's, a KCFH/.Hack fic still lives in my heart. MMOs have a sizable bored housewife population, and World of Warcraft would frankly be a better coping mechanism than y'know, cocaine.
Imagine getting your classic sitcom scene where Allison gets dumped on, then transition to gritty single cam when she goes into the laundry room to do chores, and *then* she pulls out a computer she has hidden in a closet and puts on a VR headset, and it shifts from live action to animation.
And hey, maybe she meets a surly warrior who only got into the game because her dead mom had an account...
Okay, I've been sitting on this for months now in hopes I'd get some actual *writing* down but that clearly hasn't happened, and I still listen to this at least once a week so: Here's another playlist.
This is pure self-indulgent esoteric angst, and it would have been even more so but apparently Spotify doesn't carry obscure bonus tracks and tiny indie releases from 20 years ago!

Ugghhh Sunday by The Cranberries is such a Pattison song.
"And I didn't find the words To say I love you And I couldn't find the time To say I need you It wouldn't come out right It wouldn't come out right It just came out all wrong"
