MONSTER. - Beauty and the Beast AU (Lunarre x ???)
Hidden away in the jagged mountains of Rayfalke Spiritcrest lies a castle; blackened, legend has it, by the fire of dragons centuries ago. Inside it lives a prince, the son of the recently deceased king, and his servants.
The late king was a cruel man, who conducted immoral and illegal dealings with the church and mercenaries in order to garner more wealth for himself with not a care for his people. When he died there was relief among the people of Hyland, however, there was great concern for his successor. Would the young prince be just as black of heart as his father?
In answer to their worries, the guardian seraph of the land disguised herself as an old beggar and visited the young prince. The prince, Lunarre, answered the door, and the beggar woman asked for some food and a place to stay the night.
The prince coldly refused, ordering her away. Angered, the guardian seraph revealed herself to the prince. Though the prince begged forgiveness, the seraph transformed the prince into an evil-eyed fox-creature, so that all would know his foul inner nature and flee from him.
The prince was also given the power to conjure deadly blue flames, and his hands - if motivated by evil or wrathful intentions - would burn anything they touched.
The curse, said the seraph, would gradually twist and rot the prince's mind until insanity consumed him, at which point he would die. The curse could only be lifted by a one true love; love that was pure and true and which purified the blackness in his heart.
Prince Lunarre's servants were not spared either. They were transformed into vile, hideous beasts.
Incandescent with rage, the young fox prince tore down the mountain, destroying every tree, every plant, all that lived around the base of his mountain. The lethal nature of the flames ensured that the plant life never recovered, and the black, scorched remains can be seen from miles around.
Terrified of the curse, the young prince sent out his minions, human and monster, to search for a fair maiden to bring to his castle. He has to find a true love, and soon.
