Why is no one in this fandom talking about the dragon republic first chapter???????

I mean, im sobbing with:

I just, I can't stop thinking about how hard the Speerlies tried to defend their island, to protect themselves because they know no one else would do it for them. And it wasn't enough. An entire culture died that day. They died for a nation that never thought about them as their equal. To Nikan, the Speerlies were just beasts they can use to fight they wars.

The thing about the poppy war trilogy that always gets me is that Rin always hated Altan for going crazy towards the end of his life but when Rin won the war, she started to go crazy. She because extremely paranoid and only lasted a little bit longer before sacrificing herself. I feel like there are a lot of parallels between her towards the end and everything she hated about Altan. I’m not sure if I was imagining it or not but it made me so sad because she became what she hated in the end.

I thought the song “favorite crime” by olivia rodrigo best described the relationship between rin and altan until i actually finished the book and realized it fitted the relationship between altan and the phoenix the best 😭
