Music blaring from the rented out bowling alley, where the slips of shoes tapped along the polished floor. Mikey specifically stated to the workers that the place would be in top shape; freshly mopped much for his childish members to enjoy the little bits of life whereâfor onceâno speck of blood would shatter across the walls. Rather so, the only hints of crimson would be the sweetly wrapped mistletoes and red ribbons decorating the entire windows.
âSanzu, watch it,â Kokonoi quipped, gripping on the orange bowling ball. âAct like a fucking maniac and you just might slip on your bowling shoes, somehow.â
Mikey tied his shoes, taiyaki deep within his mouth. âCahn yew pwease naht?â
Ran chuckled, murmuring into his drink. âRepeat that, boss.â
Shaking his head, platinum hair shining beneath the yellow hues, Mikey took out his treat before sighing. âKokonoi rented out the place to have a good time. Donât fuck this up. Just have fun.â
Sanzu cried out a laugh, placing a palm on his forehead. âMiiikey, are you saying the way we kill the rats in our organization is not fun? I tend to have a pleasant time.â
âOi,â Kakucho called out. âSanzu, would you please roll the ball? Sâbeen your turn for quite some time.â
Rindou watched the events played outâwhere Sanzu laughed in a manically manner when his ball ended up in the gutter, Ran eyeing his every movements only to cause the younger brother to fidget, and Kokonoi being the stubborn ass he was to keep his dangling jewelry on despite the possibility of them flying off. Such moments were rare; he believed he shouldâve paid more attention to the current present, though his eyes trailed along the tinges of gold ribbons wrapped around the arm rest.
His exhausted eyes were fading into nothing but the shimmer, only to have him trail back to the memories of where youâd talk about the most shocking topic to his ears: a baby.
Let alone, you discussed different pacifiers and clothes for a baby to wear, not showing a care to his shocked state at the time. (With the empty milk carton in his hand, and the filled-up cereal in his bowl, he only stared at you in awe before you bid your farewell to the shared bedroom.)
A deer in the headlights, he was. And Rindou desperately eyed your phone contact, debating if he shouldâve cried out how crazy the idea of a baby talk was. Nonetheless, his heart pounded uncontrollably; as if the screams of the traitors in Bonten werenât meant to frighten his spirit, butâa baby? Rindou felt his knees quiver at the thought.
âSomethingâs wrong,â Mikey perked up, causing Rindouâs eyes to widen. âYou donât wanna play.â
âHuh?â Rindouâs eyes rolled. âMânot in the mood.â
âI asked to rent out the whole bowling alley for all of us,â Mikey said, wiping his lips covered in crumbs. âAt least get a drink or something.â
âNot feeling it.â
âDearest brother,â Rindou groaned underneath his breath at Ranâs voice, where the older sibling threw his palms on the younger oneâs shoulders, causing Rindou to duck his head further into his lap. âTrouble in paradise with dearest Y/N, I have a hunch, yeah?â
âWhatâd you do now?â Mikey murmured, eyes squinting at the scoreboard above them.
Rindou looked up after shooting a glare at Ran, raising a brow. Sanzu was ahead of them all. âHow the fuck?â he thought.
âI didnât do anything,â Rindou argued, rubbing his nose. âQuit thinkinâ I always do something wrong in my relationship.â
âOkay, then whatâs wrong?â Mikey asked, rolling his head back.
âNothing.â
âSmell that?â Ran grinned cheekily, tapping Rindouâs nose before he jumped away from the younger brotherâs slap. âI smell bullshit. You got everyone here cornered in your thoughts. You have no choice but to spill, lilâ bro.â
âWe arenât thirteen anymore, you fuck.â
Mikey blinked. âRan still called you that when you wereââ
âCan everyone, like, shut the hell up and leave me alone?â Rindou quipped, standing up before grabbing onto the sky blue bowling ball Sanzu cheerfully handed to him. Kokonoi watched in amusement, sitting next to Kakucho, who they both sent displeased looks at the scoreboard of Sanzuâmiraculouslyâbeating everyone with him in the lead.
Rindouâs hands shook, where he stared at the ball in his hand and his mind wandered to an uncomfortable paradise of seeing you in front of him, going on about buying new clothes for a newborn and toys for a child to play with. âFucking hell,â he swore mentally, shaking his head. His life wasnât suited for a childâno way. As if Rindou was prepared to hold the responsibility of a younger one with his criminal occupation, yet. It could workâperhaps, sure. Maybe. âShit, shit, shitââ
âRin, you going or what, man?â Kakucho asked, raising his brows.
âMâgoing, damn,â Rindouâs lips perked in annoyance. âYou guys are impatient today, huh?â
âHow about you just say whatâs on your mind for once?â Kokonoi chuckled, resting his head against his palm.
Rindou turned around, scrunching his nose, eyeing a very witty Ran beneath the bowling chairs, who sucked on his straw like the innocent bastard he was. Closing his eyes, Rindou looked down, clutching onto the bowling ball.
âBaby.â
The members gawked at him in uncertainty. âCome again?â Sanzu stared at him, lips parted.
Rindou growled underneath his breath. âY/N⌠wants a baby.â
Dead silence. The room was sucked into an infinite void of nothing but pitter-patter of the workers staying away from them in the background. And at one point, like that, Sanzu let out a boisterous laugh; a man indulging himself in nothing but fine entertainment right on the tip of his nose. And Ran chucked a palm to his mouth, clearly standing up with delicate amusement twinkling his eyes.
âNo fucking way,â Kokonoi laughed, slapping a palm to his knee. âYou gonâ knock her up?â
âShut it,â Rindou gritted his teeth.
âMâgonna be the best uncle for you, lilâ bro, just wait,â Ran declared, reaching for his box of cigarettes in his back pocket. âGonna spoil your little brat with toys and shit.â
âIâll make that future kid of yours watch what I do,â Sanzu grinned, turning away to walk to Ran so he could steal a cigarette. âGotta keep âem entertained.â
âYouâre serious?â Mikey blinked, eyes digging deep into Rindouâs hollow stare.
âYou guys wonât shut it, huh?â Rindou sighed deeply, debating on throwing the bowling ball to the ceiling in the urge of releasing his frustration. âConversationâs done.â
âOh,â Sanzu pouted. âCanât end it there, pretty boy.â
Ran snickered in mirth. âHeâs right, Rin. Canât spill news like that and expect us not to say some shit about it.â
âDid she likeâtell you or something?â Kakucho asked, tilting his head.
Rindou bit his bottom lip. âNo, she hinted at it.â
âHow so?â
âOut of nowhere, at like fucking three AM last night, she talked about buying baby clothes and all these toys,â Rindou groaned, furrowing his eyebrows. âI was too shocked to say anything. And then she just went to bed without saying another word.â
Mikey raised a brow. âYou didnât talk about it to her this morning?â
Rindou shook his head. âNo, boss. Couldnât. Said she needed to run to the baby store to look at some stuff since apparently some bibs were on sale.â
âSo, why are you so worked up?â
âWhy?â Rindou retorted, careful to watch his tone with his boss. âMânot suited enough for the baby shit. Itâs too dangerous for a child.â
âOkay,â Mikey said, dangling his feet on the chair. âBut Y/N wants a baby. Do you?â
âI mean... Iâm not opposed to it.â
âI see, âkay,â Kokonoi snorted, fighting back an eye roll. âWhyâre you bitchinâ about it then?â
âI am not,â Rindou snapped, furrowing his eyebrows before shaking his head. âDo you see the shit we do? Ran tried to kiss me with blood all over his face after the last guy we took outâdo you really think a child is suited for my job?â
Kakucho grunted, biting into his cigarette before shaking his headâmind wandering into no damns given throughout his tousled brain. âY/N loves you, even through everything youâve done and she knows what you do.â
Ran snickered, twirling his tongue around the straw before throwing his head back. âEveryone knows youâd give Y/N the entire world.â
Mikey sighed while eyeing the scoreboard. âJust talk to her.â
Rindou nodded. Truly, he knew he was a man capable of his words. Wanting to sacrifice everything even if it meant for the smallest bits of your happiness to crack through the peeps of his eyes. At least, a meaningful conversation about his future child wouldnât hurt, much from what he anticipated.
The clank of bowling pins clattered from a distance, where Rindouâs eyes widened in discomfort once Sanzu hit another careless strike, and he clapped his hands merrily in front of the others.
Jaw-dropped, Kokonoi scoffed. âYou serious, Sanzu? It was Rinâs turn.â
Sanzu grinned; scars prominent on each end of his lips. âItâs a turkey.â
âA what?â
âWe are bowling, you dumb fuck. Do you not know what a turkey is?â
Rindou blocked the meaningless conversation out of his head, where he dragged his feet across the polished floor, and he nearly fell into the bench. Ran clicked close to his side, chuckling while Rindou quivered from his older brotherâs nose pokes.
âYou gonna tell her, right, baby bro?â
Rindou scoffed, waving Ranâs hand away. âPlease. Can you not?â He quipped, rubbing his eyes, only hoping that an undesirable headache wasnât peeking in. âMâgonna talk to her tonight or tomorrow. As soon as possible, at least.â
Kokonoi whistled, snapping his fingers. âGood,â he said, lips soon pursing into a greedy grin. ââCause Iâll spoil the shit out of your kid, Rin. Mâgonâ be the best damn uncle!â
Sanzu laughedâthe heavy patter of bowling pins falling to the floor echoed once more. âHa! Iâll have another fucking turkey soon!â
âEnough with your gobble, gobble shit!â

Rindou attempted to keep his thoughts in a gentle ease; a wave slowly dragging itself to the shore. Though, at night, and throughout the Bonten meetings, his legs shook at the thought of having a child with you. Such a big commitment, only to have his heart jump in nothing but excitement and adrenaline highs of picturing a perfect family with you.
Although, he couldnât keep his anxiety tucked away easily. Alas, a wave was bound to get stronger, heavierâand bigger.
Metal bowl doused with ingredients, such as green onions and carrots. Rindou stared down at his hands, covered with sesame oil and vegetablesâand the brief humming of your voice fading out into the background. Dumplings. At least, you wanted to eat some for the night, and Rindou figured heâd offer to help prepare them before steaming them to a perfect pitch, only to settle into the mood of the big talk.
âA baby⌠with me?â He thought, eyes wandering into the feverish green in the bowl. At one point, the sweetness of your voice mellowed down to a foggy haze. Rindou kept his thoughts lostâespecially on the topic, mostly because was he ready? A man old enough around his age was capable of much more, let alone, a child. But with his occupation, and Ranâs asshole schenagiansâwas a baby possible in his life?
âRin?â
Your voice broke him out of his thoughts, and he gulped. An innocent smile appeared on his lips, where you pecked him once before trailing back to the sink.
âHey, baby, Iâuh,â Rindou spoke, looking back before darting his eyes into the bowl.
âYeah?â You called out from behind; water splashing in the background.
âUm, âwas gonna talk to you about something.â
âOh?â You responded. âDid I do something wrong?â
âNot at all, angelâuh,â Rindou bit his bottom lip to prevent it from quivering. âSâgonna sound kinda weird and out of nowhere.â
His eyes widened when his lap started to feel moist from your hands drizzled in bits of water, and Rindou gazed down at the vegetables mixed around his fingers, only to have you chuckle against his back. Citrus scent easing into your voice; a tone so seraphic only meant for him to bear witness on the most casual domestic days.
âYou can always talk to me, Rin,â he felt your lips curve into a smile as you giggled from behind. He mentally thanked himself for keeping his hair at a longer lengthâonly to have you not catch a glimpse of the redness itching his skin. âI love you, and I will always want to talk everything out with you.â
âSo fucking kind, I donât deserve you.â
âAh, so um,â Rindou gulped. âYou went out to buy bibs the other day, right? Howâd that go?â
âWell, I got some toys and bibs,â you said casually, he felt your shoulders shake. âKind of went with what I think wouldâve been best for me, you know?â
âFor⌠you?â
Rindouâs teeth gritted; the truth had already been dropped from that subtle hint. So, he cleared his throat, while fighting back a lip bite. âThink of any baby names?â He asked, tilting his head.
âWell, no⌠not really?â
Your tone sounded off to him, almost as if the conversation was too dumb to even fall into play. No matter. And Rindou sighed deeply, closing his eyes. âLetâs go out on a date this weekend.â
Your grip around his waist loosened. âThatâs random. Whatâs the occasion?â
âWhat?â He snickered. âCanât I take my beautiful and charming woman out on a date? Especially since the streets are covered with Christmas lights now. Might as well take a walk and go shopping.â
You giggled loudly, keeping Rindouâs heart blessed with nothing but laughs filled with purity.
âWell, I wonât refuse that offer!â

Ran always spoke to Rindou about opening up his emotions, where Rindou had grown more comfortable in doing so knowing that he found you to be his perfect match. The one that was frolicking along the fields in his heartâalso the one that always took care of his wounds every time he came home like a soldier surviving a battle. Never did he picture having a family with you right away, even before he could fiddle a ring around your finger.
As time eased on, Rindou found himself looking at more articles about becoming a father and different sales at the nearest stores about baby items. The idea slowly grew into his headânothing but his future child and you, soon to be his wife, could ever keep him separated from this world. âMy own family,â heâd think, where Ran cheered on about becoming an uncle right at the tip of his nose.
Throughout the streets, Rindou purposefully took you to the nearest stores, only to have you glance at nothing but decorated Christmas trees and fake presents laid out for the purpose of ornamented interior. Heâd drag you along the baby aisles, casually whistling at the colored t-shirts.
(He really enjoyed the âdaddyâs favoriteâ shirt, but he didnât say anything about it.)
âCome with me, love,â Rindou chuckled, grabbing your hand before you could protest his weird outbursts of baby fever. Both of you walked further into the streets; Christmas carols echoing through the outside speakers along with the flickering lights of sweet yellows from up above. The snow trickled down; Rindou felt more at ease each second that passed by.
Childishly, he ran up the stairs before grabbing ahold of your waist to pull you up. Your laughter rang his ears, only to have him blur out you calling out his name in his mind. Rindou became distracted, watching the gigantic Christmas tree that stood in the middle of the empty parkâwhat was once green on the ground now dusted to a white blanket.
âOh, wow,â you smiled, looking up. âItâs so beautifulâŚâ
âJust like you,â he smiled, placing his hands on your ears. âYouâre cold.â
âOh, really? Didnât think I was.â
âSuch sass, damn,â Rindou chuckled, keeping his hands tucked on your ears. âDonât worry, love. Iâll keep you warm.â
âAh,â your eyes rolled. âMy Prince Charming.â
âDamn right.â
Rindou took note of your happiness, always debating on putting his own right before yours first. Not that he wanted a lot for Christmas, with the upcoming holiday blasting the music throughout the streets and the windows were covered with dangling lights of reds and greens. Much more than he realized, with one shared glance at you, Rindou found it in his heart to acknowledge a warmer embrace rather than the bittersweet cold.
You looked up at the Christmas tree, twinkling in the dark underneath the kisses of snow trailing from the navy sky. Quickly, he threw his arms around your waist, ducking his forehead to your shoulder. Not even wanting to kiss for snowâonly hoping that heâd keep your presence underneath his own mistletoe at all times, throughout the year; smile beaming in nothing but enchantment.
âBaby,â he murmured, causing you to look at him. Eyes widening in holiday purity. And Rindou smiled, keeping his fingers trailing along your cold cheekâtips of his fingers covering with harsh frost. âWhatever you want this year, Iâll give it to you, âkay?â
You grinned, closing your eyes. âItâs okay, Iâm just happy youâre with me. Thatâs all I want for Christmas.â
He blinked, chuckling at your words. Always so divine with the fluidity of your toneâit never failed to catch him at a lovestruck gaze. âYouâre sweet, love, but Iâm ready,â Rindou gulped, rubbing his hands on your back.
Blinking, your head tilted. âReady⌠for?â
He sucked in a breath. âA baby.â
You blinked again, lips parting. Rindou grinned, feeling the high rush of excitement take him by the knees. But then your face faltered into nothing but blissârather so, you stared at him blankly, jaw-dropping from the impact of the given bombshell that came out of his words.
âAh⌠what?â
Rindouâs eyes enlarged. âA baby. You and me. Weâll have a family togethââ
âI heard you, butââ your teeth gritted, causing you to nervously chuckle with a hand scratching the back of your neck. âAre you serious?â
âWith you, of course. Youâd be the best moââ
âRindou,â you quipped, gripping his shoulders. âWhat?!â
This reaction was not what he expected. In hopes of seeing your sweet smile glisten underneath the Christmas lights have vanished into nothing but a face devoid of color and a, rather, prostrated gaze in return to his words.
His eyebrows furrowed. âWaitâdid you not want a baby?â
âWhâno?!â You forced out an awkward laugh. âI never told you I wanted one, did I?â
âNo, butâbut, hold on,â Rindou held up an index finger, attempting to catch his breath. He nearly tripped underneath the snow building up near his feet. âWhat was all that baby talk you had before? And looking at all the bibs, pacifiââ
âOh,â you blinked. âMy friend recently announced her pregnancy, so Iâve just been trying to find the best gifts for her when everythingâs on sale right now.â
Rindou stared at you.
âYou couldnât⌠have said that to begin withâŚ?â
âWait⌠so you donâtâŚâ
âIâm sorry,â you laughed, slapping your forehead shamefully. âIâI shouldâve told you that. I mustâve gotten you freaked out and all that, huh?â
Rindou rubbed his eyes, keeping his head down. âNo, itâs justâI was kind of looking forward to having aâa baby, yeah?â
Your lips tightened. âRin, weâre not even married yet.â
âI know, but I thought youââ Rindou stopped himself before shaking his head, slowly throwing his arms around your neck as he exhaled deeply; hands shaking unsteadily. âI just want to let you know that I want a family with you.â
Slowly, your arms wrapped around his body cautiously. âReally?â
âYes, baby,â he grinned, closing his eyes happily. âDoesnât have to be now, butâI want a family with you eventually.â
You sighed. âIâd be a good mom?â
âThe best mom,â Rindou laughed. âRanâs gonâ be the âbest uncleâ, he said. Koko too; promised toys and all that. Even Mikey looked happyâtold him that heâd get to play with my future kid. Havenât seen him smile like that in a while.â
With your heart drifting away in bliss, your nose buried itself further into his chest. Rindou took note of your physical reaction, only to have his arms tighten around you before he threw an arm behind his back, fiddling his fingers into one of his pockets.
âA family, huh?â You chuckled, where Rindou placed his lips on your forehead.
âOnly with you, angel, of course,â he responded, eyes fluttering to a close; sweet nothings flowing out from his lips. âGonna have to marry you soon, then.â
âAh,â you smiled. âI wonder when that will be.â
It was all a good feeling, especially for Rindou. The cheerful antics of his future visits to Ranâs house with his child holding his hand by his side, along with Rindouâs giddy smile whenever heâd share a glance with his baby. And the time of year couldnât have been more endearing, though the news had been misunderstood, at least he recognized his worth for a short while.
Rindou grinned happily, letting out a laugh before dipping his forehead into your shoulder.
With happiness bound to be on the way, at least you remained to be close to his side.
Only to keep his excitement on edgeâwith a bliss of silver shuffling around his fingers.
âVery soon, my love.â
