Help Empty Movement Help You

Hey! Vanna here. I'm going to get to the point. There have been a rash of sales of Utena production materials that have gone for ludicrous sums, and I have won none of them. This sucks, because at this point, this is stuff I'd be scanning for Something Eternal, sure, but also, for the fucking Internet Archive. When I ask for help, it's because I want to contribute to the Utena museum, which I try to share as freely as possible. Y'all know the drill.

....But I'm gonna be fucking selfish here. Help me. I fucking need these. You need to remember.....

Akio is my favorite character.

My personal g-mail STILL HAS HIS FULL NAME IN IT. Forgive me this sin, and for a moment, consider...

Help Empty Movement Help You

I have this one cel. I cherish it for many reasons. It's a calm before a storm. It's his last little pretense of being a gentleman. And then he gets shoved the fuck off, in the face, full offense, in one of the most satisfying moments in the show, and I mean this as an Akio fan.

I mean, I like the character, I'm fascinated with him, etc....but no one else in the world is going to appreciate ownership of the fucking production materials of him getting shoved in the face like I will I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT ;_;

Help Empty Movement Help You

Just fuckin' help me, idk, there's Patreon, there's PayPal (emptymovement), there's the drop ship merch (I make very little off these tho tbh they're just kinda neat things I've made), there's sending me cursed pirate gold literally whatever I fucking need these so much, and that's not even to speak of the literal fucking series icon moments in this lot that I do, seriously, believe belong in a museum and would at least digitize them that way and make considerations for where they'd be safest long term

I'm so serious this is fucking history and I trust myself to ensure its survival better than whoever else is gonna bid just hekofeygfwefgqlufgew kufgwed

Gertie propaganda;

Gertie is the first dinosaur in animated film!

In fact, she was in one of the earliest animated films, period!

She’s smart enough to do tricks, but don’t push her too hard or tease her, or she might toss you in a lake…

The film was originally used in Windor McCay’s vaudeville act, in which he would interact with Gertie in front of a live audience.

Gertie is literally one of the foundational films in both animation history and dinosaur media - vote for the O.G. (Original Gertie)! 🦕

You could never bother me with such a great contribution, buddy ! You made me discover a lot of animation works I didn't know about and I'm always eager to learn. Thanks again for all of these additions. And really, feel free to add things whenever you want !

The Cuphead Show is a love letter to the 30's "rubber hose animation" and "golden age cartoons", but it also pays tribute to specific animators !

*Clip from season 3 but not a proper spoiler per say*

Just like season 2/ s1b, I have MANY THOUGHTS about this last batch of episodes ! I bingewatched it and enjoyed a lot of things. Will share my highlights later.

Now, it may sound silly, but my attention got particularly caught on a very short and specific moment of animation:

Doesn't Mugman's little head swaggle look familiar to you ?

It's just like the signature trademark of Milton Erwin Kahl, one of Disney's Old Men and supervisory team of animators ! I love when animators have their unique little quirks we can recognize when seeing the films/cartoons they worked on. I think this homage of the famous "Milt Kahl head swaggle" is completely intentional, as he used to do it with characters that are getting a bit too cocky or self-confident. Which is exactly the case for Mugman here (As he should, he deserves to be) !

This proves just how much love, thoughts and efforts the animators put in the creation of the Cuphead Show, with other very remarkable animated scenes through the whole series, and I think it's truly beautiful 🥺

Shoutout to them !

This makes me wonder: are there any other tributes we might have missed ?
