He's not sure when and where and how he's become this way—no, he knows, it's only a fool's errand that he thinks otherwise—but for all his efforts, for all his attempts of saving his world, he feels he's failed.

Failed, at the end of it all.

A failure of a Warrior of Light that he smiles in spite of himself. And yet, for all his ruminations, he finds consolation in all of his wanderings that he's—somehow—still here. Still here in this almost incorporeal form that only Koharu, the Warrior of Light he once scorned and fought against in her world, can see him. While he knows not why Minfilia decided that he ought to remain behind while all of his comrades have gone and done their duty, he is the only one left.

In spite of that, her words come and soothe what frayed survivor's guilt he has, duty-bound that he is. Ardbert makes a small smile, a mixed feeling of bitterness and appreciation. Their words have oft hit the hard questions and while it feels as though it's been him giving her the push this entire time, there are moments like these when she's the one that gives him one.

To keep going forward.

"As am I," he says with a smile, appreciative. Ardbert doesn't know when he'd next fade and reappear at whenever is convenient, but he knows near her, he can appear as need be. "And I, for one, am glad you're here."
