Autismacceptance - Tumblr Posts

Little do these people know: 1. I was nonverbal until the age of five 2. I’m not social 3. I work better alone most of the time (keyword: most) 4. Couldn’t wear jeans until I was 11 5. Hate the texture of most vegetables (no it’s not about growing up stfu Karen) 6. Couldn’t understand sarcasm until I was eight. 7. Stops talking if I get too upset 8. Hides emotions 9. Acted “retarded” most of the time (tbh still do) Point being, I wasn’t always “high functioning.” #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autistic #autisticmemesforautisticteens #autistickids #asd #autismspectrum #autismspectrumdisorder #autismspectrumwarrior #autismspectrumdisorders #ld #learningdifference #learningdifferences #learningdifferencesovercome #learningdisabilities #learningdisability #learningdisabilitysupport #learningdisabilityawareness #nonverbal #nonverbalautism #nonverbalautismawareness #highfunctioning #highfunctioningautism https://www.instagram.com/p/CB_B33FJCON/?igshid=1zgu9hxydbi4

Friendly advice for this awareness month
Since the World Autism Awareness Day is coming, I’d like to invite everyone to search and share information from reliable sources approached from an analytic and informative point of view, it is common to share emotive texts, that only generalize and confine people, concluding with a “but still, they can love and be happy” or “but they are still people”. Of course we are still people, but by sharing ideas that start off from the supposition that others don’t see it that way, only leaves us precisely on that position.
Lets spread specialized and inclusive information, not vaguely descriptive texts which depict this neuropathy as something foreign and the one who lives it as a defenseless victim. The best way to know what is autism is to ask an autistic.
This Autism Awareness Day let's avoid disinformation and promote acceptance
