You watched from the 1st base dugout as the baseball team practiced sliding into 2nd. Jungkook was up, taking off at full speed in almost perfect form. His actual slide, however, was lacking. He slid too late and dug his cleat into the clay field. You jumped up, jogging over to tease him and his form. As you moved, the whole team began their “ous” as Jungkook slowly figured out what was going on.
“Jeon Jungkook, are you trying to break your ankle?” You snapped, pointing to the ditch that was made by his cleat. “Who taught you that, surely not this coach. Slide earlier and lift your leg up to touch the top of the bag, not the bottom.” You stepped back, pointing to him before the 1st base.
He instantly understood what you mean, huffing in agitation as he stood up and made his way back to 1st base. He was about to go to the back of the line when you stopped him, signaling for him to go first so you can watch him. Jungkook nodded, walking to the front and beginning to take off.
When he got to a close enough distance, you let him know, “Slide now, down, down, down.” You said, moving arms in a downward manner. He didn’t listen, running 3 or 4 more steps and then sliding. Jungkook’s foot did the same thing, dug into the clay and stopping his momentum abruptly. He glanced up at you, waiting for a snarky response.
“Go get your glove and get your ass on the mound. I guess we have to go back to basics and bring out a sheet of cardboard for you to practice.” You said, making him laugh. He got up, crossing his arms as he challenged you. This was how it always was, the both of you never stopped bickering even for a second. Even during games, it was just back and forth between the two of you.
“Well, short shorts,” He started, making you scrunch up your nose at the lame name. “I want to see if you can do better.”
