Bbc Doctor Who - Tumblr Posts
Does anyone else love the fact that the Doctor Who fandom and the Merlin fandom just decided to merge???????????????
A bit story time even if no one reads this...
So I sort of watched Doctor Who with my mum when I was like 9-10 years old and I have absolutely no recollection of what happened in the series and which doctor I was seeing but I just remembered that the statues episode was so freaky it made me hide.....
So back to the present I just saw the whole Doctor Donna season (only one I could find on the internet) and rn I just saw The Day Of The Doctor and OH MY GOD.... I ABSOLUTELY FREAKED MY SMALL HUMAN NERDY BRAIN WHEN ALL THE DOCTORS CAME.
The line where that one time lord goes like 'No it's not all twelve doctors, there are thirteen!' And Peter Capaldi's horrific eyes just stared into my soul was when I passed out.
I already know the show is great but MAN can science fiction never fail you
I love the fact that even when there was no technological advancement in the film industry or like animation and stuff it never really stopped the making of Doctor Who!

Important question in my mind I have an idea for a Doctor Who Musical. I don't have the plot, but I have a few songs, I am genuinely interested in who might want to see a doctor who musical . I mean, the idea on general the musical is probably never going to happen, but the songs I wrote did slap hard
I have a few choruses but no final ideas for songs
(Main show stopping number) 14 faces all 14 doctors, belting a dramatic song it builds up slowly before becoming a thick melody
(Blink)a dramatic musical number with 10 and his warning to Sally sparrow jazzy/ argentine tango vipes
(Blue box)a happy upbeat song about the doctor showing off he TARDIS to his companion
(The Loneliestchild in the universe) an emotional ballad by the doctor singing about how lonely he feels
That's all I got so far

Who vs Why

Ruby kept focusing on 'who' and not 'why' in regard to her birth mother and it drove me wild.
Does the 'who' technically make sense for the overarching storyline? Yes! They clearly understood that this myth of Ruby's birth mother needed to up be built up both for the audience and for the characters.
BUT, that gets lost when they're constantly focused on who Ruby's birth mother was, especially towards the end. It's more interesting as to why she left her at the church on Christmas.
What was so special about Christmas? About that church? Why would a woman abandon a complete newborn?
If they had stuck specifically to why she was left that still would've played into the legend. Maybe Ruby kept making stories up when she was a child, that her birth mother had some secret mission and had to leave Ruby there or SOMETHING because that's what children do!
So to find out how normal her birth mother is, it's both confusion but also a slight relief because Ruby realizes that her birth mother was just a girl like her.
It makes that reveal with Louise at the end more impactful because let's be honest, they brushed over that so fast.
This also helps to align Ruby's story more with the Doctor. The Doctor wants to know why his parents left him on that planet. Yes, who is important, but why? Why there? Why then? That is so much more interesting and compelling.
Maybe the Doctor has started to make up stories in his own mind about who they are. They could've had such a wonderful scene where Ruby shares the little stories she's made up over the years.
Also, side note and I'm not going to get personal, but I do have other issues with the way Louise was presented as Ruby's "mother" and not "birth mother". I give RTD the benefit of the doubt as he did address that in commentary (though it wasn't the best response).
Imagine being able to jump from universe to universe like it's the most normal thing ever!

Series 5, Episode 10 Vincent and The Doctor
From which comes one of my favourite DW quotes:
“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
