you know what? I'm not actually sure that Arthur did know Mordred's name in The Beginning of the End (s1 ep 8). He didn't talk to Arthur as far as I'm aware, and, lets be honest, how many brunette white boys do you think Arthur has met in his life????? It's got to be too many.

All of this to say, it's no wonder he didn't know Mordred was a druid, because he never knew his name when he saved Mordred as a child.

Do you cry? When you think about all the people left in Camelot (Gwen, Gias, Leon, etc.) who had been told days or weeks later that someone important to them passed? Their king, their friend, was gone? Do you? Because a trip to Camelot wasn't just a few hours, it was days, weeks, months. How long do you think it took for Merlin to trek back to his kingdom, empty handed and so so alone, to tell Gwen he failed? To tell Gias all his sacrifice was for nothing? To come home to an empty place, and be told he lost ANOTHER loved one in return? To be ripped to shreds once again, because he lost two of the most important people to him? Because I do.
