K so, Ichika, Komari, and Ginnojo are astroexplorers who were cadets and work at a place called the Garrison. The Garrison is a military organization that trains ppl to be astroexplorers and to protect Earth from outer space threats

With that out of the way, Ichika, Yami (who was also in the Garrison bc of Julius), and Alexandria (first Queen of Heart in canon but is Lolo's mom in this Au) were selected to go on a mission called Kerberos to one of Mars's moons. Witch would be the farthest humans have gone into outer space. Komari and Ginnojo were not fans of this, a lot of arguing took place but ultimately Ichika convinced them that it will all turn out ok and promised she would be home fast ( LIEEEEEE)

So. Like. A month after Kerberos crow leaves the Garrison loses contact with them so, they assume it is bc of a piloting issue and mark them all dead. Yeah, Ichika should have listened to her gfs but moving on, angst falls down on the families of the crow and no one takes it well. It triggers Lolo (who does not believe anything the Garrison says) to become a cadet after running away from home but thats not important rn.

In truth tho, Ichika, Yami and Alexandria had thier ship blown the fuck UP, by, you guessed it, fucking aliens known as the Galra who took Ichika and c.o priseners and sent the yami sibling to two different fighting arenas, to entertain the Galras

Beyond that we have, yami and Alexandria being lucky as fuck (Galra Nacht and bbs my beloved) but Ichika not following suit (insert trauma of having your arm cut off and replaced by a mechanical one and yk fighting to survive). Also Komair fucking dies when the Galra do eventually attack earth and Ginnojo loses and arm. So yeah. There is that.
