I am a sloth bear therian and sometimes I get dental phantom shifts the reason this is interesting is because they don’t have their front 2 teeth, so sometimes I just forget that I have front teeth and I eat food thinking they arent there, just to smash my bottom front teeth into my top ones. It hurts like hell but i think its funny.

i finally feel like i belong and im apart of something

long time, no see friends! i did a bit of a rebrand, i was lunefang previously. i decided to give my @ a bit of an update as i've recently come to the conclusion that i'm bearkin/a bear therian.
i still feel a connection to my werewolf side, though i noticed it doesn't feel as strong outside of autumn and late summer. i was still feeling something in those off months, and i've recently been able to trace it back to being a bearkin.
bears have played a large role in my life for such a long time, and this identity was hiding in plain sight. my favorite movie growing up was brother bear, and it always made me feel some sort of connection when i watched it and i would get shifts at a young age before i knew what they were. my favorite food is sushi and i love salmon in any form. sweets like honey and berries have been a staple in my diet since i was a child, especially wild blackberries. i have a build similar to a bear. i prefer my nails long and sharp. bears have been a symbol of comfort for me, taking that form in plushies, necklaces, figures, clothing, and more throughout my life. heck, i bought a bear ears headband one day simply because it felt right. bears in media always make me feel seen and comfortable. bears in photos feel familiar in a way. there's so much more i could go on about, maybe in a bear ramblings post sometime?
anyways, thank you to those who have stuck around all this time for my werewolf content! i promise to post more when i feel like it, along with bear-related posts. i won't be super active here as tumblr is sort of intimidating to me, but thanks for hearing me out nonetheless! i hope you have a wonderful day/night, this is your local bearkin signing out for now <3
saw what i think was a young wolf or fox therian out in public today! they were wearing their tail and mask and i thought it was so cool! i live in a very low population rural area, so i never thought i'd come across another therian! i was too shy to approach them and compliment them on their gear, but they seemed quite a bit younger than me anyways and i don't wanna scare anybody lmao. just thought it was real cool to see! made little ol bear me so happy to see others being themselves!
i live in southern illinois and recently there's been a few black bear sightings!! black bears are rare in this area but have been known to rarely be sighted here in the summer! i think there's been like 8 overall sightings in the past several years? but as a bear therian (and more specifically a suspected black bear therian) this feels strangely validating funnily enough! like bears haven't been native here since like 1870, but yet they find their way here in the summer sometimes! right here where i live! i only wish i could see these sightings in person, i know i would feel that connection right away like i do when i see a photo or even a plushie or something. Just something interesting i thought i should share!! this photo is from a local news network so it's a pic of one of the sighted bears!

🪵 -- i feel a bit odd as a bear sometimes. for instance, i feel more active in the winter and fall than i do in the summer, whereas bears hibernate in the winter months. i hate summer in fact, too hot for me. but i do enjoy a good swim.
🪵 -- as an uneducated kid, i wondered how i could possibly be a bear if i don't like meat much. but little did i know that the diet of an american black bear is mostly made up of anything but! i still love to eat fish and prefer it over other meat, but berries, seeds, and honey are all much more appealing to me anyways.
🪵 -- did you know that black bear vocals sound a little like laughter? look it up on youtube some time, it's fascinating! those vocals are harder for me to perform unfortunately, so i mostly stick to more grizzly-like ones to still feel bearish.
🪵 -- i have the cutest little black bear backpack coming in the mail! i can't wait to wear him to tennessee! i desperately hope to spot a black bear there!
🪵 -- just watched brother bear last night for the first time in a while. i'm brought to tears when kenai becomes a bear, it really speaks to me.
🪵 -- we have a blackberry bush in our backyard that produces in the early summer months. i love to sit out there and pick them, it feels so natural. i often make them into delicious blackberry cobbler!
🪵 -- my experience as a therian is rather odd i feel. i don't have any proper memories of being a bear, but forest areas and places with lots of trees and foliage call to me in a familiar way. certain foods that bears tend to like call to me and tend to be my favorites. i have phantom shifts of little round ears and a small tail. i even get shifts in my hands as sometimes they feel like bear paws. i've always found comfort in bear motifs. it just feels right to be considered a bear.
🪵 -- got to see a live black bear up close today! we are staying in gatlinburg currently and a nearby shop has a bear habitat! it's a lovely habitat and the bear there (named katie) seems very happy and well fed! she was so cute and i was so excited to see her, my heart was racing. i felt so estatic yet calm in her presence.
🪵 -- finally got to try a honey comb for the first time today! not a huge fan of the wax itself, but taking that bite and feeling the honey and wax squish in my teeth is so satisfying. the honey was exceptionally delicious.
🪵 -- the woodland environment and mountains here in gatlinburg are absolutely stunning, i've never seen anything like it. i feel very at home here, like i belong somehow even though i'm so far from home. knowing those black bears are out there, it makes me feel like returning to where i belong as i find so much in common with them.
🪵 -- my husband got some beef jerky from a huge gas station and it feels wonderful on my teeth, i love just ripping into it and chewing with my big bear teeth!
🪵 -- we got to see the mountains from up high today and being up so high and seeing them so vividly made me feel so much comfort. like there are miles and miles of grass and trees, how wonderful! i wonder what it's like to run through them.
🪵 -- we're decorating our bathroom in black bears when we return home. how cute it'll be! i love simple things like surrounding myself with my theriotype, even of it's just in silly decorations.
