“My secret is that I need God—that I am sick and can no longer make it alone. I need God to help me give, because I no longer seem to be capable of giving; to help me be kind, as I no longer seem capable of kindness; to help me love, as I seem beyond being able to love.”
— Douglas Coupland, Life After God
This is just all wrong.
Frist, in Biblical Hebrew the ending 'im' (ימ) is MASCULINE plural. Which could be its own discussion but the Scholarship is split so I won't go into that here.
Second, the word Elohim (אלהימ) is not "the name for the creative power in Genesis" it is a noun meaning 'god' or 'gods' and can refer to either the God of the Hebrews or false gods. It appears continuously in the Old Testament not just Genesis.
Thirdly, YHWH (יהןה) IS the name of God. And it doesn't appear much later it appears in Genesis 2 (and there are some suggestions as to why these chapters use different words for God but that's a different post).
'Al Shaddai' is actually 'el Shaddai' (אל שדד) the 'el' coming from 'elohim' and it means 'God Almighty'. While it does come later it is not a name for the God of the Bible.
The origin of the word Jehovah is very long but basically Jewish people would not say YHWH out loud and so would substitute the word 'adonai' (אדני) which means 'Lord' or 'Master' and can also refer to humans. Jehovah comes from the Latin of the Hebrew word that is produced when you take the vowels of 'adonai' and place them over the Hebrew letters YHWH. It is not a "mispronunciation" it is an evolution of a reading tradition.

Friendly reminder that Satan is not one being. Satan is actually someone who acts on behalf of God.
Lucifer is not the devil(actually it just means lightbearer as a way to laugh at Lucifer and also Jesus was called the lightbearer).
The devil is not that snake in the garden of Eden (that one thing about the serpent of old was actually referencing leviathan).
Also the bible ain’t facts bruh

God calls us to be both compassionate and passionate. To have reverence for God and man.

Pastor Greg Laurie- Walking with Jesus through the storms of life.
It’s really easy to be faithful when things are going great in your life….the true test of your faith is the trials, tribulations and tragedies in your life. You need to learn how to maintain and strengthen your faith through life’s storms. Those storms will make your faith indestructible if you weather them with full faith and love for Jesus Christ.
I love this Bible study. If you have the time, it’s quite informative and so inspirational.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.”
2 Timothy 1:7 CSB
Hot take: lucifer deserved much worse.
OK, one thing I noticed is that people give lucifer a lot of pass on some things for the reason of "Oh he's such goofball" or "he's so hot!".
And I think people forget who he is, there is a reason he is known as the most hated being in all of creation, it's because he damned so many people to live in suffering.
Every tragedy in mankind's history, is this dude's fault, and the only punishment he got for it was to be, by all means, grounded. He destroyed lives of so many people because of his selfishness.
Call me harsh, but sometimes your dreams are not worth the suffering of other people. Sometimes, you need to understand that your dreams are best left unachieved.
The count of every human life in history is 117 billion. That's too many, too many souls suffering for the pride of someone who thought he knew better than the literal creator of the fucking universe.
I have heard people say that he didn't know that would happen, which I respectfully call bullshit on that because there is no way a high ranking angel like lucifer didn't know what would happen.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter that he meant good, for the path to hell is caved with good intentions.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
AHHHHH I'M SO EXCITED!!!
I just had a meeting with my Pastor and I'll be recieved into my new Church this Sunday!
BUT THEN he said, "I was looking over your paper about ways you would be interested in serving the Church, and I have an opportunity for you, if you want it." And he told me about a Bible discussion group the Church wants to start with some of the teens in the congregation! It's a more group lead type Bible discussion, but they need a facilitator to help and guide the discussions, and Pastor thought that I would be a good fit because of how close I am to their age and how I want to become a teacher! It probably helps that I used to help with Children's Church back in my old congregation, too, but I've never worked with teenagers before, so this is a bit new for me!
We don't have a start date yet and it's on Zoom so I have to learn how to use that but some people already said they would give it a try.
I'M SO EXCITED!!!! 😁😁😁😁
I got myself a new Bible yesterday and I'm really excited to start using it! It's a standard Bible that I got at Walmart, and to others it's probably nothing special--navy blue imitation leather, King James Version, red letters for the words Jesus spoke and full color maps in the back. It cost around $14 after tax. The print is a comfortable size, and there's a blue ribbon page marker. It's just a nice, standard Bible, not even mildly fancy like my family Bible that's white imitation leather with illustrations throughout and gold trimmed pages that was passed down from my great grandmother, to my mother, and then to me a few years ago.
So why am I so excited about this Bible?
Because it's the first Bible I've gotten since coming out as a trans man.
It feels like a fresh start with my journey of faith. I've honestly strayed away from my other Bibles (a Hands On one that I got when I entered Sunday School; a children's Bible with nice illustrations but small print that was a gift for mt fifth birthday from our then-Pastor's wife; a small pink New Testament Bible that was a gift to my late father from myself when I was in elementary school). They all have my deadname written inside, and it felt too much like those copies weren't really for me. It was more like they were for the little girl and young woman people thought they were gifting them to.
But this new copy of God's word is a new start. It doesn't erase my past with the Church or my previous struggles with faith due to being trans and gay. It doesn't take away the sleepless nights of wondering who I am and why God made me this way, or the angry, tear-filled prayers to a God that, at the time, I wasn't even sure was listening. But it is a starting point for myself to really move forward from that, to let myself let go of some of the baggage I've been carrying in my faith life and start a new journey, this one filled with self love and joy instead of despair and grief for a girl who never even really existed in the first place. Every time I see my correct name in the front, it's a little reminder to myself that I'm the only one who can define who I am and my relationship with the Lord. My faith is my own, and no one else gets to dictate it.
I've been highlighting some favorite verses of mine throughout the day with colored pencils and exploring some of the maps, and I've started reading Genesis, too! I promised myself I would read the Bible this year, and I'm grateful that I can do it with a brand new one that I can use moving forward! 💙

Don't let loneliness draw you to toxic company. If you have God, you're never alone.
Your mind is a powerful weapon against anxiety. Use it to choose to think on things above, and not beneath.
Jeremiah 17:9
says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
I believe that is true of my own heart, as well as yours and every other heart beat within every human being.
Truth is, we need a spiritual heart.
Another reason why it’s disastrous to trust in our own hearts is because our hearts are at the center of our fallen, sinful nature. Jesus teaches us, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander” (Matthew 15:19), and Proverbs 28:26 says, “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”

Praise you Lord God🙌🙏

Guard Yourself With Gratitude
The guardian role of gratitude applies to prayer, the spiritual battles we fight there, and our daily interaction with people. We can see this in Ephesians 5:4. "Let there be no filthiness, nor silly talk, nor levity, which are not fitting; but instead let there be thanksgiving."
Gratitude turns what little you have into abundance. Gratitude is so much more than saying thank you. Gratitude changes your perspective of your world.
And that's why gratitude is the guardian of our souls.
Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God. Receive the wealth of his grace in Jesus Christ. Fill your mouth with thanksgiving. And guard yourselves forever with gratitude!
Keep the faith
God Bless you 🙏👆💕
