So... I wrote a fic about Jujutsu Kaisen. Cause I refuse to believe canon. Anyway, here it is. (spoilers for Shibuya arc and a lil bit for the Culling Games arc) (briefly, it will be available in Ao3. probably) (sorry for bad english and probable inaccuracy with canon) (imma call this the shape of two souls)
Mahito laughs as he sees Yuji Itadori pass out in front of his friend's body. Maybe it was the shock for seeing her almost dead or some wound from a previous battle, but it doesn't matter. He approaches the boy.
It would be so, so easy to kill him now. But... where would be the funny part?
He starts dragging away the bodies of that girl and the sorcerer. He is sure he didn't kill them, as he wanted to play a little more with the two of them, thinking of how he could corrupt and break Itadori through them. Furthermore, Mahito also wanted to test something.
_
When Yuji wakes up, he is at the infirmary of Jujutsu High. His memory is blurry and he asks Megumi, who is right by his side:
"What happened?"
He receives the most painful look he's seen Megumi give.
Then, he starts crying. He is hugged by his boyfriend as he feels his tears fall over his own low head.
_
"Oh? You are alive?" Kenjaku says, slightly tilting his head, the same fake smile as always decorating their face.
"Yes, I am" Mahito laughs. "You thought everyone would die, am I right? Well, I stayed alive."
"I see... just to be clear, I will not kill you, but there isn't anything anymore that can stop me from doing it now."
"Ah, it's alright! I just wanted to pass here a little bit!" he smiles. "Also, I'm really having very few free time now. I've been spending the last 2 days aprimorating my masterpieces!"
"Masterpieces?"
"Yes, someday, you will see them! Anyway, it was a pleasure to see you, Geto-kun! I hope we don't find each other in battle again!" and he goes away.
_
She feels a grand nothing. There is pain bursting out of her left eye. The righ one is open and contemplates what's above her, but she can't comprehend. How did she end up there? Who... who is she?
There is someone standing by her side, but the girl can't see exactly its form. It's blurry and blue. The strange thing laughs.
"Amazing... changing the shape of the soul, I change the mind too! The two can't remember a thing!" she doesn't understand what it means by that, but feels something brushing her cheek. Her eye hurts more. "This will be perfect..."
Then, something changes in her body, and she feels pain followed by, again, a nothing.
_
"Wait, the fuck?! The school is being attacked?! Now?!" Megumi exclaims, standing up. He groans a little with the pain, but doesn't care. Right after him, Yuji stands up. Maybe both needed to de-stress in some punching bag after the worst week of their lives.
"Lets go" Yuji murmurs. Megumi looks at him, worried. That's because the shine seems to have left his eyes, since the death and vanishing of the bodies of Nobara and Nanami.
That bastard didn't even let them bury them.
_
Hime observs the place with her only eye. She's forgotten it's name, but it's something with jujutsu, whatever this may be. No that she cares, anyway. If Kami-sama ordered her to do something, she will do it. After all, for what else does she exist?
She looks at Senshi. He, just as her, watches the place. He speaks, with a lot of struggle, as his form makes it hard for him to do it (differently from Hime, who can barely make noises):
"Kami-sama... said... Senshi... protect... Hime..." he looks at her. "Hime... stay... away from... juj..." suddenly, he stops, the needles being stuck in his neck, his face going back to the same neutral expression as always.
The needles are there to keep them as Kami-sama wants, his perfect masterpieces. Always they start failing, the needles make them float, float, float.
Hime looks down. She gets one of her nails, as Senshi wields his blade. In case one of them breaks during the mission, they just need to go back to Kami-sama and he'll fix them. She remembers his orders: to kill anyone they find. They will do it.
_
Yuji runs to the school's door desperatly fast. He wants something, anything, to discount his feelings on. To try to choke the memories that have been coming back and back on the last week. To not remember, once again, his failure in protecting people he loved so much.
He sees two figures walking at distance. With his fist raised, he goes, letting all of his negative feelings turn into rough cursed energy, when, suddenly, he stops, his shoes making noise with the sudden friction.
The same lips. The same nose. The same hair. The same eyes. The same faces.
"Na... nami-sensei? Nobara?" his voice shakes.
His dead sister and sensei are in front of him, alive. And they are wrong.
Nobara has a rose emerging from her left eye, a pattern similar to black roots covering practically all of the left side of her body and her right arm has been elongated in a way it seems like an insect leg touching the ground. Nanami has burned skin over his jaw, blue skin graft covering the carbonized part of his body, one of his eyes is totally red and one of his arms has been replaced with a blade similar to the one he used. Both have such a pale skin they seem to be dead, are practically naked except for some kind of second skin sewed over the private parts, there's a circle of black needles behind their necks and their eyes are as hollow as a pit.
When they listen to their own names, there is no reaction other than Nobara leaning slightly her head and Nanami narrowing his eyes. Then, she takes a nail out of the rose and he attacks.
_
Hime feels... confused. It's different from the nothing she's used to. She feels like that because the boy they just encountered simply doesn't attack, just deffends himself. Even though Senshi goes on with no sign of mercy, the pink haired one just protects himself. What names were those he said? And, for some reason, he's... crying? Maybe, because he's scared of dying and is too afraid to retaliate? The thought of killing someone as coward makes Hime smile. Then, she feels the needles piercing her neck and starts floating. With difficulty, she focuses only one thing: wait for Senshi to take off a piece of the boy so she can eliminate him.
_
Senshi attacks, attacks and attacks. The pink haired boy is crying, but he couldn't care less. The only strange thing is the boy defends himself without attacking, speaks to him as they knew each other and calls him by a strange name that isn't his, "Nanami". He tries to ignore, but there's a strange feeling in his head, and, because of that, a needle pierces his neck. With that, Senshi foccuses again in killing the boy or at least taking a piece of him so Hime can kill him.
However, suddenly, a dog-shaped shikigami appears and attacks Hime. Immediately, his eyes go towards her, who, fallen on the ground, makes a sound similar to pain. Senshi remembers the same instant what Kami-sama said
"If one of you breaks, come back and I'll fix you"
Kami-sama is so good to them.
Senshi stops fighting and runs towards Hime. With a blow, he throws the shikigami away and takes her in his arms, running away.
A part of him says he must protect her because she is smaller than him. Then, other needle is pinched into his neck and he continues to run.
_
Megumi can hear the fight before he arrives to the place and sees the enemies, then, he invokes the shikigami and tells it to run and attack. He enters the glade and his face gets contorted with horror.
It's Nobara and Nanami, and, at the same time, it's not. They have an appearance similar to those of curses and Nanami is fighting Yuji. The divine dog attacks Nobara and, for a second, Megumi asks himself what to do, when Nanami stops fighting, strikes the shikigami, takes the girl in his arms and runs away.
How is this possible?! How?! Yuji saw the two of them die to...
To a special grade curse that changes the soul shape.
He turns to Yuji, worried. He doesn't seem to have a lot of wounds, which is good, but his eyes are something terrible Megumi's never seen before. At the same time they are empty, they are also fulfilled with pure sadness. He looks at Megumi and, just as he did many times during this week, starts crying. Megumi barely feels the tears itching his eyes and threatening to overflow when he helps him to get up.
(if I get, like, one heart with this I'll continue. Actually, I already got the whole story written and will continue anyway, but some motivation would be nice)
So... I wrote a fic about Jujutsu Kaisen. Cause I refuse to believe canon. Anyway, here it is. (spoilers for Shibuya arc and a lil bit for the Culling Games arc) (briefly, it will be available in Ao3. probably) (sorry for bad english and probable inaccuracy with canon)
“...a shikigami, huh?” Kami-sama murmurs, right after fixing Hime.
“...fault... Senshi... didn’t saw...”
“No, no, there’s no need to that. You guys know I wouldn’t be mad even if you were just two insignificant transfigured humans, but my two masterpieces? Of course I won’t be mad at you!” he brushes softly Hime’s cheek. Her normally blank face acquires the shadow of a smile. “Specially at you, Hime-chan. I have a different task for you now. Those you attacked will come after me soon, so, you must deffend me. With a special warning for you, Senshi-san, because, as before, you need to protect Hime-chan at all costs. Did you understand?”
The two of them nod.
_
“MAHITO!!!” Yuji screams, entering the building where is the energy of the curse. The fury present in his voice could make the walls tremble. The boy ran away from Jujutsu High and passed the whole night looking for Mahito.
“Well, you arrived earlier than I thought” says the laughing voice that seems to be coming out of the walls.
“WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY SENSEI AND MY SISTER?! YOU FUCKING SON OF A BITCH!”
A laughter full of pure cruelty echoes around the place.
“I thought playing with them and testing a few things would be much, much more interesting than just killing them! I found out that, depending on the way I change the shape of the soul, I can also change the mind! Oh, I got so happy when I discovered that, specially about the girl, as I’ve never seen a sorcerer that could change the shape of the soul like me! Do you want to find the two of them again, Itadori?”
He is able to listen something similar to steps behind himself and immediatly turns around, seeing Nobara right behind him, her arm outstretched towards his hair. Realizing her intention, he grabs her arm before she can do anything. Right behind her, Nanami comes running. For a second, Yuji looks directly into the girl’s single eye.
There’s nothing in them.
He can’t remember exactly what happened later.
When he realizes, he’s fallen into the ground, wounds through his body. His vision is blurry and he can barely distinguish what is more than one meter away from him. He sees two figures and then a lot of movement, and suddenly someone gets close to his face, a pointy and black hair that is very familiar.
Megumi.
“Yuji!” he seems angry and worried. He says, while helping him get up: “Didn’t I told you to not come?! You almost died!! You were lucky we managed to find you!
“Hum... sorry...” he murmurs, blinking as he tries to make his vision less blurry. “And... what about them?”
“The curse is not here, but the sorcerers managed to capture Kugisaki and Nanami-san. We’ll get them to the school and see what we can do for them.”
Megumi looks at Yuji and sighs. He knows the boy well enough to know that the guilt is corroding him from the inside, even though he is innocent in this whole thing.
Nobara is a great friend and, during that week, he could barely walk through the school without feeling his knees tremble when thinking of her. He knew Nanami a long time ago because of Gojo, and, even though they have never been close in the way the adult and Yuji were, he still respected him deeply. Seeing that distorted version of them is absolutely wrong and torturing.
Just as he saw them, he understood the boiling and blind hate Yuji felt for that curse.
_
Shoko is used to see people in terrible estates. After all, she is a doctor that works on Jujutsu High. She saw many people deformed by curses or wounded in brutal ways. Even though she felt sorry for their fate, she got very experienced throughout the years.
So, it’s surprising when she feels about to puke when she sees Kugisaki and Nanami unconscious with their bodies transfigured.
Maybe it’s because she knows them and got shocked by seeing them distorted. Maybe it’s Kugisaki’s such young age. Maybe it’s the protection instinct with her kouhai. She doesn’t know. She just knows that she feels pure hatred for the curse that did this to them.
They are tied at the litters with cursed strings to ensure they won’t run away. While she evaluates them, worried and nervous, Shoko realizes the strings were a good idea when Kugisaki wakes up.
Immediately, when her eye evaluates the place around her, she tries to get up with all her force, but can’t do it. She grunts and emmits all kind of noises, varying from low despair moanings to roars of pure anger. Any tries to make her stop is shown to be in vain, and the girl just calms down when is left alone. In this moment, she just stays there, sitten, staring the nothing and without moving a muscle.
When Nanami wakes up, he looks around, confused, and tries to free himself. When he sees Kugisaki, he says something incomprehensible, but she seems to understand it. He enters the same catatonic state as she, but one of his eyes deviates to the corner, making Kugisaki be inside his sight. Just as this happens, however, the needles behind his neck pierce him and he looks forward again.
Shoko looks at what is in her hands. She managed to get one of the needles that were on Kugisaki’s nape. She needs to discover what is that.
_
This is the first time Megumi sees Maki be shaken by something. She seems happy when finds out Nobara is alive, but, as they hears what happened, her eyes get wide and they staggers when walks. When she goes to the infirmary and sees her unconscious from far away, Maki doesn’t move a centimeter until she finally moves away, without saying a word.
_
Yuji passes most of the night awaken. He can’t sleep because can’t stop thinking he could have stopped that. If he didn’t faint, maybe the two of them could have been saved. But the vision of Nanami’s burned skin and flesh being torn apart alongside Nobara’s eye exploding out of her face, knowing that the two of them would be dead, made that his body couldn’t take it anymore and got prepared to die.
After circa one hour rolling through the bed without being able to close his eyes, he finally gets up and starts wandering around the school. There’s no goal, he just needs to walk around, trying to empty his head from the pain. In some way, his feet take him unconsciously to the infirmary door, and he looks inside.
Just the two of them are there, the lights on. The ones that have been wounded at Shibuya or have been practically healed or are on the graveyard. They look exactly like earlier, however, there’s a slight frown in Nobara’s forehead when she sees him. Nanami, although, just opens his eyes a little bit in his direction.
Yuji runs, opens a bathroom’s door and pukes.
While he walks around the property again with no direction, he sees himself again at the door of his dormitory. He thinks of going back to his room until he hears something, a low sound. It comes from Megumi’s room.
He looks through the door. Even in the dark, his eyes identify Megumi’s body lying down in fetal position while hugging one of his dogs. His back oscilate slightly and the sound comes from him.
Without making any noise, Yuji enters the room and slides to the bed, putting his arms around Megumi and staying there until his breathing calms down and the crying sound stops. Maybe this happened because of the many people he’s lost in such a short time.
The whole night, Yuji tries to ignore Sukuna laughing at the back of his mind.

Kugisaki is moved to another room of the infirmary. Shoko knows she’ll have to do a herculean effort to try revert the cursed technique, but it’s worth it. Furthermore, she can see that the body modifications that were made on the girl’s body are less profond than those made on Nanami’s. And maybe, just maybe, the fact that Kugisaki’s technique affects the soul may help her during the execution.
When she finally stops doing the Reversed Curse Technique, Shoko falls on her knees, all vitality leaving her body. She feels like she is about to die after fighting with such effort against the cursed technique. Hana helps her to get up, as she was there after being called to take off Gojo’s seal, and Shoko took advantage of her presence to ask for help and try reverting the curse’s technique. The woman is reliefed they cured the girl’s physical form, but doesn’t know if they did the same to her mind.
_
There are people on the room before Ieiri can stop anyone from entering in. Even though Itadori, Fushiguro and Maki are the only ones to stay in there all the time, the rest of them stays a long time, and it works like this on the following two days until Kugisaki wakes up.
At the first moment, she looks around, confused. One of her eyes is milky and has stretch marks around it, as they couldn’t heal that damage without leaving behind a scar. Kugisaki moans a little because of the pain, squinting her eyes, trying to make the left one see, but in vain. Then, as her gaze falls over those around, her confusion seems to increase with their faces of expectations and tension, and opens her mouth, about to ask what happened, when she remembers she couldn’t speak before.
An avalanche of memories suddenly comes up and burries her under it. Memories from Shibuya and from the week after that.
Then, for the first time in many, many years, Nobara Kugisaki starts crying.
There’s an instant of shock in which everyone can’t do anything except feel their hearts break with the vision of her face getting contorted with pure trauma and pain as tears pour uncontrollably out of her eyes, making clear how broken Nobara is. The following instant, she feels arms squeezing her tightly and continues to cry.
_
It’s been a few hours since Nobara woke up. She is shrunken on the litter, and, even though she no longer has the empty look from before, now, it seems her eyes are the epitome of silent pain. Yuji hasn’t left her side since she woke up, and everyone agreed on making shifts to stay close to her.
Suddenly, the infirmary door opens and Megumi enters in.
“Nobara.”
“Ah, hi, Megumi.”
“Do you want to speak?”
“No.”
“Ok. Then, you just need to turn around to look.”
Without knowing what he means, she turns around and immediatly sits on the litter, exclaiming:
“My cane!!”
She practically rips the metal object out of Megumi’s hands, looking at the pink stars pattern with the trans and lesbian flag stamped on the handle, shocked. She asks:
“How did you get it?!”
“They found it on Shibuya and brought it back here. Yuji wanted it to stay here.”
“...thanks, Yu.”
“You’re welcome!” he smiles, and, for a second, just a second, she seems to almost smile back to him.
_
Now that she can walk through the school again, it’s normal to see Nobara wandering around without saying anything, but it’s even more common to see her alone, at her part of the infirmary, staring at the wall while hugging her knees, her eye looking so, so tired.
Maki is the third one on the shift to visit her. They see the colorful cane propped up on the wall and the eyepatch with a heart on it (it was gift from Itadori) on the girl’s face. Just as she enters, they say:
“Hi.”
“Hey, Maki...”
“How are you doing?”
Nobara doesn’t answer.
“Does it hurt?”
“The eye? No. And... the burn scars?”
“Just when they touch something.”
“I’ve never seen your arms before. They’re beautiful.”
“Ah... thanks.”
She sees a hair strand fall over Nobara’s face. Since they started hanging out, Maki sees that this sometimes happened, and always puts it behind her ear. They tries to do the same now. In an instant, Nobara’s eye gets wide and she almost falls back, covering her face with her hands:
“NO!!!”
Maki immediately stops. A second passes until Nobara looks between her fingers and uncovers her face, now flushed, murmuring:
“Sorry... sorry... I’m really sorry...”
“Hey, hey, it’s ok. Don’t apologize.”
“It’s just... that...” her voice almost disappears as she speaks. “...his... hand...”
Maki doesn’t need any more information. She just approaches without raising their arms and sits by her side on the bed. Nobara hesitates for an instant, then her head falls over their shoulder.
_
The cane hits the ground when Nobara enters the other part of the infirmary. Nanami’s eyes meet her and she backs off, getting off the room. She can’t face him. Not yet.
_
“It’s made to wipe you out.”
“What?” Shoko asks, looking at Kugisaki.
“The needles. They stick you and make you get confused everytime you remember a little bit of yourself. They’re parts of his body that he modified to make it look like this way.
Shoko looks at the girl’s face, so shaken by everything that happened.
“...thank you, Kugisaki.”
_
‘She wakes up, feeling like all of her body was under the effect of anesthesia. There’s a point of her face that hurts. She tries to move, but feels heavy. She can barely open her eyes, such big is her tiredness. Her mind seems to be completely empty and she can barely think. Suddenly, someone raises her eyelid delicately and her gaze falls over two men. One of them smiles and says:
“Ah, you finally woke up! How do you feel, Hime-chan?”
She tries to speak about the mess that her body feels like, but her tongue curls up and shows itself as being useless on saying anything. The man raising her eyelid giggles and says:
“Oh, of course, silly me! You can’t speak. But don’t worry, you won’t need it. Instead, I’ll explain you what’s happening, ok? But, before, I’ll just put this behind your neck!”
And he creates out of the palm of his hand an ensemble of black needles.’
Nobara wakes up suddenly and turns around, gets her cane and walks out of the room. She doesn’t know what she wants to do, all she knows is that she doesn’t want to stay there to ruminate that again and again.
She goes to her room on the dormitory and looks at her stuff. She gets surprised they didn’t put everything away when they thought she was dead. Maybe Yuji stopped it from happening. Suddenly, her gaze falls over a small bottle of brown hair dying product.
She takes it. Her hair is now on its natural color, black, and she hates the fact that it’s this way. It always gave her a fucking horrible disphoria. She goes to the bathroom, but stops walking once she hears someone say:
“Ah, sorry. I didn’t saw there was someone here.”
She turns around and sees a person on pajamas with brown skin, long black hair with a pink strand and piercings on the lip. Nobara asks:
“Who are you?”
“Hoshi Kirara. I came here cause of my boyfriend.”
“Kugisaki Nobara. I... kind of live here.”
“Kugisaki...? Ah.” They seem to notice the bottle in her hand. “You gonna dye your hair? Sleepless tonight?”
“Yeah.”
“I know how. Wanna help?”
Nobara was about to say she was fine, until she realizes that, actually, she wants to do anything, except be alone. Then, she nods and they go to the bathroom.
Occasionally, Kirara makes a few commentaries, but they don’t seem to be expecting an answer from Nobara. Instead, they give her space, seeming to comprehend that the girl does that mostly to have someone by her side, to make those haunting thoughts leave.
“You are so pretty!” Kirara exclaims. The morning is arriving when Nobara’s hair entirely brown.
“...thanks.”
“You welcome.”
(this is the part 3 of a fic I wrote. To get the other parts, research for "the shape of two souls")
So... I wrote a fic about Jujutsu Kaisen. Cause I refuse to believe canon. Anyway, here it is. (spoilers for Shibuya arc and a lil bit for the Culling Games arc) (briefly, it will be available in Ao3. probably) (sorry for bad english and probable inaccuracy with canon) (this is the last part)
Ieiri told Nobara before most people that she and Kurusu will try to heal Nanami. Nobara is reliefed, but she gets tense. What if, with him, it won’t work?
A little bit of the tension is dissoluted when she finds out the physic healing process worked, but the rest of it remains during the day in which Nanami remains unconscious. This time, Ieiri only lets Nobara stay there because she needs to move between the two rooms to leave and enter the place. The following day to the process, Ieiri (very tired) warns the girl that Nanami woke up in the middle of the night. She immediately gets excited, a little of the shine in her eyes coming back, but her joy dies soon later.
Nanami’s mental state remains the same. He can’t remember a thing.
With her hands trembling, Nobara asks if she can see him. Ieiri tells her that yes.
She doesn’t say a word when she sits by his side. The man has scars that form some kind of outline where his burn scars used to be. Nanami blinks when he sees her, and raises a little his body on the litter.
“Hime?”
Nobara feels a shiver down her spine when she hears that name, but tries to ignore it. She knows it’s not his fault. Then, she sighs and asks:
“Why did you protect me all the time?”
“Kami-sama asked.”
Not always, she thinks. Most of the times, yes. But, on the first time, no. She saw that, in the end of this one time, the needles pierced his neck.
Ieiri told her to be careful, as he was having aggressive reactions towards who approached too much. The only one with who he took it easy was Yuji. However, when Nobara comes closer, Nanami doesn’t show any reaction. She sits, her back against his’, and murmurs, so low that the only one who hears it is herself.
“...you like protecting the newbies, right? ...it was easy to realize it...” she turns around and hugs him from behind. “Don’t worry, Nanami-san. We’ll solve this. We’ll be ok.”
_
Nobara looks at her phone, anxious. Okkotsu Yuta came back found out where he was. They asked Nobara to use Ressonance on the needle Shoko took out of her before because it was a part of him. She will do it with pleasure, but she has to wait for Okkotsu’s call to know the right moment of using the technique. As he’s a special grade, he can face him, but her help will be good.
The phone rings. She grabs it in a second and answers the call.
“Hello?”
“Now.” Okkotsu’s voice says before turning off.
Nobara takes the needle. For the first time in the week since she woke up, she permisses herself to remember each moment, each painful thing, each needle, each dead person, each thing she did against her will, and feels the cursed energy flow through her body. Then, she burries the nail on the needle.
She hammers it again. Again. Again. Until the needle disappears.
She walks as fast as she can through the school until she arrives at the infirmary. She needs to see him, needs to garantee it worked, please, she begs for it to have worked...
Nobara sees Kurusu leaving the room. They seems relieved. Now faster than ever, she invades the infirmary and, suddenly, stops. She approaches, cautious, his litter, and murmurs:
“Nanami... san?”
He looks at her. His eyes are overflowing with silent tears.
“Kugisaki.” His voice is hoarse and broken. This man’s voice shouldn’t be like this. “I...”
“Stop” she says. “You... don’t need to say anything, ok?”
“...ok”
She squeezes his hand tightly.
_
The next days are silente and strange, however, a little, just a little, happy and relieved. Because everyone is happy they’re back, but they know that the two of them passed most of the time silent because they shared something nobody else will understand.
When Yuji makes Nobara laugh, she realizes she might be getting better.
And when they manage to get the Prison Realm, Kurusu is there to take the seal out of Gojo and she and Nanami stay close to the cube the moment the Angel frees him, she realizes they will be ok.
(this is the ending for a fic I wrote. For the other parts, search for "the shape of two souls")
