You do not have to be ashamed for wanting to read “bad” books. You wanna read Twilight? We got Twilight. Need a banal, cookie-cutter-plot mystery or thriller? Those are always fun. Our regulars check them out by the towering stack. Ask Betty for recommendations; she’s read them all. 50 Shades of Oh Fucking No? We’ve got it, we even got it in large print. Have fun. Check out the rest of our porn too. Oh, and the sex manuals are a MUST if you want to “experiment” yourself. Don’t be afraid to ask; they’re here for a reason.
Want to read a book written by a huge asshole everyone hates and agree was a monster? Yeah, we have those. No, we don’t think you’re an asshole for wanting to know what was actually written in there, or judging things for yourself.
You are not too old for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Babysitter’s Club, or Captain Underpants. You are not too young for Sherlock Holmes. There’s nothing wrong with a boy reading The Princess Academy or Sweet Valley High. There’s nothing wrong with a girl being into The Hardy Boys or Artemis Fowl instead.
You do not have to pull the shame face and offer me an excuse when you check out your books. I don’t care if I got so angry at that book I threw it against a wall when I read it: you have the right to read it, and enjoy it if it’s enjoyable for you. THAT’S WHY THE LIBRARY HAS IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. If we only stocked pure, unproblematic literature everyone approved of, by authors of unquestionable virtue, we wouldn’t have any books at all. Or music. Or movies. It would be utterly fucking boring. And it certainly wouldn’t be a library.

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder (Holly Jackson) was mid (imo.)
like it wasn’t BAD per se, it was a good book. but it was. nowhere near all the hype and boosting it received, and definitely not good enough for the tv series that’s been recently announced.
i may finish the series, may not. we’ll see 🤷

TMA book rec for The Flesh
In this dystopian horror novel, animals around the globe have been infected with a deadly virus, leaving their meat contaminated and inedible. In the absence of these animals and their meat, the government has sanctioned cannibalism (though it’s taboo to refer to it as such). Meat processing plants become human processing plants and humans are bred and slaughtered like cattle. Follow Marcos, a manager of one of these plants, as he is gifted a human bred for the slaughter and is forced to face the inhumanity of this new world, with a plot twist that will leave you throwing this book across the room.
i thought this book suited The Flesh very well in highlighting the fact that we are no different from the animals we eat. after all…
meat is meat.
the tv tropes page for the book you just read is the digestif. no explanation needed. fanfiction is pure indulgence, it's the dessert. the memes are like when you sneak back downstairs at 1am to eat a few more bites, standing in front of the open fridge.
movie adaptations are when you reheat the leftovers several days later. sometimes it's surprisingly good. sometimes it makes you violently ill.

Ok so some shit happened and they escaped. Chuck's death didn't phase me at all for whatever reason because I have a feeling there will be more deaths. Oh crap my screen is falling off my tablet lmao- anyways there's something called The Flare and it's a virus or something. Maybe there's a pandemic? That seems kinda scary but I'm desensitised to pandemics lol. I just hope Newt doesn't die.

My maze runner post got 14 reposts. Thanks guys. Anyway I finished reading the first maze runner book! What's up with WICKED? I trust them for some reason because of the whole "WICKED is good" thing. Also I don't trust the people from the bus AT ALL. Like where'd they take the gladers??? I forgot to read the part at the very end (it either said prologue or epilogue I can't remember) but that probably would've revealed some stuff. Oh well. If any of you guys know which order to read the maze runner books in please let me know. Also What's crank palace? Do I have to read that book to understand the plot? If any of you guys know let me know please.
