Ok can we talk about how briarlight was so hated by the warriors fandom? Or was it just me. Idk if im misremembering or if im getting her mixed up with dovewing or someone else (which would make sense because dovewing is in a very similar situation of being hated because her sister is loved), but I remember didn't like Briar for this reason back when I was like 10 or 11, and I swear that I remember others posting about how they felt this way too, which is what influenced me to think that way. I feel like especially earlier in the fandom people hated briarlight because of how millie treated her siblings, so people blamed briarlight instead of millie, when it wasn't Briarlight's fault and if anyone millie should have been blamed. Anyway, if anyone wants to make a video essay on this, I'd love to watch it lmao. Litterally, you can promote your video essay in the comments and I might watch it (assuming it's about this subject ofc)
i DESPERATELY need people to understand something abt briarlight. she would not be "a little muscular". she would not be "kinda buff". she would be TIGERSTAR LEVELS OF RIPPED. fuck it, she would be STRONGER THAN TIGERSTAR. i am not fucking around. i have a cat who was born with back legs that don't function and he's so ripped it scares me. he's too powerful. he could beat me in an arm wrestle but thank God he doesnt have thumbs. his #1 weakness is an inability to jump. if he could jump we would all be dead by now. he can still clamor up soft stable objects though so he is master of the fucking couch. he keeps fighting his fat ass brother for food and Winning Every Time.
we need more catastrophically ripped briarlight in this fandom

To be clear- Cinderpelt finding a new sense of purpose and direction as a medicine cat OF HER OWN FREE WILL after suffering a life-changing injury is not ableism. Firestar constantly feeling sorry for her when she's clearly happy and lamenting the fact that she never got to be a Warrior every time she so much as crosses his line of sight is ableism.
Briarlight being physically unable to preform traditional Warrior duties and finding other things that she can do around camp that make her feel good about herself as a contributing member of her community is not ableism (though they really should've explored it more). Millie explicitly saying that Jayfeather keeping her daughter alive is only prolonging her suffering and that she will always have an "incomplete" life is ableism.
Longtail choosing to retire to the elders den early because he feels unable to comfortably preform his Warrior duties after the loss of his sight is not ableism. Jayfeather being told his blindness means he has no other choice but to become a medicine cat and then being bullied into it by the adults in his life and even his ancestors, despite the fact that he states again and again that he wants to be a Warrior, is ableism.
Disabled characters existing, and not being able to do all of the things that fully abled characters can do is not the problem, and rewriting them to be able to do everything able bodied warriors can is not the solution. The problem is denying disabled characters agency, refusing to accept that they can find happiness and fulfillment in non-traditional roles in Clan life, and treating their lives as though they are somehow diminished by their disabilities.
The number of disabled cats in Warrior Cats genuinely made it so much easier when I developed my disabilities.
If Briarlight, Jayfeather, Cinderpelt, Longtail, Crookedstar, Nightpelt/Nightstar, Brightheart, Lilywhisker, and Snowkit hadn't done it first, I'm not sure if I'd have managed to come to terms with my own..

I like the disabeld character's in warrior cat's series but the way the writer's treat the characters isn't okay,most of the disabeld cats just retire to the elder's den and that's kinda unfair like image being disabeld and someone tell's you that you have to retire and stop following your dream's,i really wish they could treat the character's better and give them a spotlight.Starclan gave Cinderpelt a 2nd chance to live and what did they did to Snowkit after he died?Nothing,they didn't gave him a 2nd chance to live a life and how disapointing that is.
(Why can't the Erin's hire a fan?At least a fan can write a disabeld character better)
