The main plot revolves around the Eckharts being pressured by Marquis Ellen, who found out that they have purposely hid a newly discovered diamond mind not submitting all the rights for it development to the imperial family. The duchy is pushed into a corner by the Marquis, who is their main political antagonist, and the emperor, who strives to put reigns on the duchy that doesn’t support any of his heirs and has a bit too many privileges and influence. As a result, in order to avoid to be labeled as traitors, their only choice is to get one of their children married into the royal family or its branches. While the Marquis wanted to marry one of his relatives to either of duke’s sons and probably get an heir to the duchy in his camp, the duke makes a desperate deal with the crown prince. Penelope becomes a pawn in this deal as she is to be his wife until the Eckharts help to either push the second prince down or put Callisto on the throne. But will the sides upkeep their promises and will she be granted a proper divorce after several years as agreed? Of course fucking not what are you talking about
