Ubisoft will do everything except give Rayman an actual new game
So I'm gonna go ahead and snip the bud and say don't support this. Usually I don't make these kinda posts, but considering Ubisoft seems like they're been specifically trying to get Rayman fans hyped here, I don't want anyone to fall for it.
The game is a Web3/NFT game. Furthermore, articles and the website indicate it's supposed to be focused on the Niji6 who, in the show, are shown to recruit child soldiers and be bigots. It is not a new Rayman game like a few people mistakenly believe. This is also not getting into the fact the official Discord has sections dedicated to NFTs, where contests have been ran requiring participants spend money on them.
The Twitter account has also been blocking and hid the replies of anyone against NFTs despite 1. it being a dead market and 2. being horrible for the environment. While I love the character just as much as anyone, please don't fall for Ubisoft baiting fans with what's essentially a scam.
Im gonna strangle this game when it comes out

they put forward a rabbids film but cancel rayman 4 and an animated series based upon him. HE HASNT HAD A GAME INSTALLMENT ALMOST 12 YEARS.
ok the one good takeaway is the fact the fanbase is still so active like . raymanners you are gods strongest soldiers

...Yeah I'm not really shocked.
For real, Laserhawk is a remix universe, literally no one is exactly how they appear in their cannon worlds. Honestly killing off any connection to the games saves a lot of baggage for the writers and allows them to focus on Rayman here and now, in THIS world.
(that's not to say people can't headcannon to their heart's content!)
If Rayman's friends were still alive out there and the dimension he came from was in any way similar to the game worlds I don't see any reason why Rayman wouldn't try and return. Hell he doesn't even MENTION them or his home world, which leads us to believe he choses not to think about it because he knows there's nothing left. We see in the show that Eden has a gun that can rip open portals, and while it's logical that Eden would try and keep that secret from everyone (including Rayman) you'd think Rayman would be itching to go back at any opportunity if he knew there was a home to return to. He's a smart guy. It's not ridiculous to think he'd just play along with Eden and keep his ear to the ground for the vague hint that Eden had a means to open a portal back to his home.
This cannon makes Rayman a tragic figure. He is literally all that is left of a dead world. When he says to Bullfrog that Eden saved his life HE'S NOT JOKING.
It's part of why he lost his temper at Red for insulting alien immigrants. He literally has nowhere else in the multiverse to go, and before Eden took him in he was an outcast from the human world no matter how hard he tried to fit in.
This cannon strips (Game) Rayman of the one thing that gives him strength and resolve, his friends, and thrusts him into the arms of an uncaring megacorp who uses him as a puppet and praises him for towing their line. It breaks him down.
BUT the possibility of Rayman/Ramon befriending Bullfrog and Dolph gives him a choice. A choice to be a force of change in THIS world and maybe help save it from it's own destruction the way his home world was destroyed.
So yes this cannon is sad but BY GOLLY does it lead to some fascinating world and character building.
