Charles Martinet - Tumblr Posts
Why is it every time Hollywood makes an animated film based on a long running game, they never get the original actors to play them; Sonic wasn't played by Roger Craig Smith, and while the I did enjoy the film, Ben Schwartz didn't exactly sound convincing sometimes. and the entire cast of Scoob! (Save Scooby) were replaced by big names who sound nothing like the originals.
Now for the Mario film, we get a casting that makes no sense; Jack Black as Bowser? Really? Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong? Can't see it. Keegan-Michael Key might be a good toad, though, I just hope he actually does the voice. But my biggest concern is Mario and Luigi; Charles Martinet has been voicing the two for nearly thirty years, perfecting the art, and while I do like Chris Pratt (and I'll be honest, I've never heard of Charlie Day), you can't just throw out the guys who have brought so much personality to our favorite characters.
I was seriously mistaken when I made this post. Jack Black Bowser is awesome. Keegan-Michael Key is a good toad. While I'm still on the fence about Chris Pratt, I haven't heard enough of Charlie day's Luigi.
But let us not forget that these guys played the brothers for a few years.

So why don't we hold off on the "Pratt is a horrible Mario" for a while since they were the definitive voices before Charles took over and made a few people mad.

So, Charles Martinet has retired as Mario, Luigi, and all our favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters. So, thank you, Chuck, and good luck!

Leo: Raph, do you really need to bring your entire stuffed animal collection with you just to watch TV?
Raph: Yes. Now, excuse me while I get some popcorn to share with Captain Cuddles, Doctor Hugginstein, and Cheech. And not you. -v-

April: YES!!!?!
Leo: Promise?! PLEASE?!
Raph: Guys... I...I'm sorry. *puts down a Wild +4 card* It's all I can play.
Donnie: It's okay! It's okay. *draws 4 cards, just barely holding it together* At least...it isn't being directed...toward Mikey. :) :) :) :) :)

Leo: Great. We're trapped here until the end of time.
April: Next time someone pulls a stunt like that, I'm ripping up all the cards.
If "Yes" wins, I will draw Chris Pratt. If "No" wins, I will draw Charles Martinet. Choose wisely. >:)
Good luck ambassador
He gave us the voices of four legendary plumbers, asked for our keyboards, and led us on great adventures. Thank you Charles Martinet, you have done us all a great service.
In honor of Charles Martinet's retirement I'd like to bring up the funniest case of voice acting in video game history

Oh my god this is so cute, how am I hearing about this now?
I think I once heard Charles Martinet say at a panel, the script for Mario Teaches Typing 2 had Mario telling the player negative things if they failed but he himself changed the lines and instead said things like “That was great, but I know you can do even better” and “That wasn’t as fast as last time..let’s try again” because in his mind he had already decided that he wanted Mario to be always loving

Sometimes, it’s hard living as an optimistic person in a world that’s not completely kind to unexpected changes. However, when in doubt, just let the positives light the way for you and don’t let the negatives weigh you down. Change is just nature.
PS. Extremely hyped for the Mario Movie. Instant 100/100 for me. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s either Charles or Chris voicing the red plumber, because as long as Mario’s acting like himself, then I have faith for his first time on the big screen after a long, long time!

He said Goodbye to the overalls.. I’m fine.
Apparently Nintendo confirmed ‘SMB Wonder’ will be the first game without Charles Martinet and that to find out who the new VA is, we’ll have to wait for the credits of the game itself. (Thing I understand since Internet’s full of maniacs who would go harass the newcomer)
Anyway let me know; did you notice this change in the trailer?
No hate to Charles martinet...but has he ever gotten flack for his stereotypical italian accent thing?
I'm guessing you mean in Italy so: nope, we are very chill about it.
We definitely don't talk like that, maybe italo-americans do. But at the end of the day his Mario performance is harmless, nothing offensive.
Personally I reckon it's something the character needs anyway. God tier mascots like him and Mickey have to be unique in every aspect.
I wonder if the people that don't want Charles Martinet to voice mario because: "a whole movie in Mario's voice would be too much" thought he was going to be a one line character like in the games just screaming "wahooooo!" and "yaaaaahhhhh!" as soon as he was on screen, don't they know he is able to speak whole sentences?
I just think it would be really funny if a bunch of people didn't want Charles Martinet because they thought he could only speak in catch phrases.
