Charles wouldn't kiss Edwin gently on the swings after a romantic walk and a heart-to-heart. He isn't like that. They aren't like that. He would pick the worst moment ever, while they're being chased by unfathomable horrors, and do it then. It's tradition

They were never even supposed to meet but they’re the missing piece of each other’s puzzle,,, they were never supposed to meet each other but they’re the most important person in each other’s afterlife/favourite person ever,,,, they were never supposed to meet, they were supposed to live but they don’t even want to imagine a life without the other in it,,,,

but when are we gonna talk about charles' watery eyes in almost tears when edwin tells him what the spider does to him in hell

Love Charles and Edwin cause it’s like. They’ve been in a situationship for thirty years. They’re just friends. They’re married. They’ve only ever shared two hugs. Charles was the only person Edwin would let touch him at first. They know everything about each other. They don’t tell each other anything. They’re in constant disagreement. They’re perfectly in sync. They’ve both made moves on other people. They keep finding parts of each other in their respective dates. They’re hopelessly in love. They have no idea what they feel towards one another. They want to kiss each other so badly it aches. The thought has literally never occurred to them. Their relationship isn’t romantic. It definitely isn’t platonic either. They blur the line between romantic and platonic to the point of indistinction on a daily basis.

thank you to this tweet for giving me the perfect opportunity to ramble about edwin’s outfit during the confession scene because oh how i love it

the juxtaposition between these two scenes and what edwin wears is so good because he goes from an outfit he chose and put together when he planned to confess vs a blood stained shirt when he actually did but what i think a lot of people don’t realise is that edwin isn’t wearing pyjamas when he’s in hell, he’s wearing undergarments. he’s in an undershirt and drawers, which was typical edwardian underwear and it is such a perfect way to show how vulnerable he is in that moment. so often clothes are used as armour or a way to make oneself feel more confident and that’s exactly what edwin is doing when he made himself look, as niko says, really nice. a nice outfit and feeling good about yourself can go a long way in making yourself feel more ready to, i don’t know, confess your love to your best friend of 30 years. now compare that to what edwin’s wearing when he actually confesses and you immediately feel a sense of vulnerability and almost nakedness in that situation because the modern day equivalent is standing there in your boxers. all of that armour, all that confidence is gone, he is both literally and metaphorically bare. in the end it’s just edwin, in the most basic sense, baring his soul to charles and i think it’s so so beautiful

no but if/when we get edwin using a rapier it’s gonna be SUCH a good opportunity to callback to charles in s1 ep1 trying to teach him self defense via boxing. like edwin seemingly out of nowhere stepping in to protect himself and charles from something or someone with graceful, skillful swordsmanship and charles, through his heart eyes and wonder, has to go “you could do THIS all along and you didn’t say anything? even when I thought I had to teach you self defense?”

charles and edwin give major "guys who met at the first day of school/university/internship and instantly became absolutely inseparable, best mates" vibes.

What's so special about their friendship in canon is that they feel like childhood friends even though there are literally decades they have gone without knowing each other (well, for Charles not even two decades but the thought still counts), and there is so much history the other is not a part of but they still live in each other's pockets, know each other better than anyone has or ever will, like two puzzle pieces finally falling together. It's not growing up together and seeing the other grow up alongside you into the person you now know, it's meeting this person, not yet knowing what has shaped them into who they have become but feeling that their shadow fits yours

there is something so beautiful about those two souls living their (almost) entire lives without knowing each other and meeting in death, a new start in something that is technically supposed to be the end, and letting this bloom into the magic and chemistry we can see between them

i think it's kinda outrageous that we see only Charles with a saber (that was a saber wasn't it? I don't know much about it tbh) in season 1, when Edwin is the one who canonically fencing. and how dare they know that George really can fence and don't give us a chance to see it on a screen. i mean this kind of fight would suit Edwin so well with his sassy nature, love to show off a bit and his elegant moves and posutre. so in season 2 i vitally need the scene opposite to boxing one, but now Edwin would teach Charles fencing (that might be a flashbacks, cause we see that Charles can use this saber a little). but more than that i just wanna see more protective Edwin who defence Charles with his rapier and skills and Charles swoon over how hot this is. but if we also could have the scene like this when they both fight together holding hands, then definetley i would be the one who swoon over this.

Absolutely against the theory that Edwin feel first and Charles fell harder; Charles literally threw away his chance to a peaceful eternity to stay with a boy he just met that treated him like no one had before, with kindness and support, he literally spiraled into falling and didnt even realize, EDWIN ON THE CONTRARY... my boy literally fell face first onto his feelings a random day and couldn't shake his gay thoughts away in any way, he got so overwhelmed by them that he couldn't even fathom the idea of never telling Charles, the first person he ever received love from and that he loved in return. Charles fell first, Edwin fell harder.

I wanna see edwin stubbornly avoid a conversation or an argument by deciding to literally sink through the floor into the room below. now THAT’s how you get the final word
