Nine's EYE design

So now that I've gotten a closer look at his belt, why tf does the button look kinda like an eye with a dilated pupil? Like it looks fucking terrified.

Actually, why is the main design in his machine's eyes? Mostly blue eyes? (with the exception of the shatterdrive, his tails, and the grim, but it's still there) On his belt, his gloves, Sonic's gloves and shoes (which is interesting), everywhere.

(The eyes on his tails are looking around...)

Hell, even the grim's entrance portal has this design...
