times the criminal minds writers were so clever it made me angry

(in no particular order <3)

1. - the episode "route 66" (the episode hotch passes out from internal bleeding from the foyet stabbing) was made to commemorate 100 episodes since the airing of "nameless, faceless" (the episode where hotch is stabbed by foyet). in reality, it only marks 99 episodes since the airing of that episode. if we're being ACCURATE, it commemorates 100 episodes since the airing of "(to hell)... and back, part 2" (the pig farm case, which ended with the confrontation between hotch and foyet)!!!

which is still... God thats so cool. not to mention the actual EPISODE "100", so having another important foyet episode come pretty much exactly 100 episodes later???..

AND THIS NEXT FACT IS CONNECTED!!!

> the license plate on the car in hotch's silly-yet-heartbreaking dream sequence (which actually BELONGS to rossi's actor, joe mantegna, btw?) reads "509 905", which is a reference to "100," the ninth episode of season five (the episode haley dies💔), and THIS episode, the fifth episode of season nine.

GODDDD..... do the CM writers make insane continuity errors a LOT?.. yeah! but holy hell, they will surprise you

2. - rossi's first episode is titled "about face", focused on catching a killer who skins off people's faces... and one of the most important episodes for him is titled "face off", where they're facing a killer... who skins people's faces off....... and almost skinned HIS OFF!!! .... God and he has such prominent face motifs?¿? maybe im just looking for them at this point but . come ON.

> also if we're going a little deeper and a little sillier with the names, "about face" is a military command and rossi WAS in the military!... not to mention he was pretty much a stranger to the team and he was a little bit stuck up. it fits very well for his first episode title !

3. - ALSO a note about rossi's first episode, but it deserved it's own spot. we open to see him hunting ducks! obviously more than one people have said "oh it's symbolism because gideon is basically gone now and him shooting a bird is like confirming that fact", and the writers have CONFIRMED that that's what they were going for! and that's amazing!

... But! i have more!

> in the wonderful episode "nelson's sparrow" (which is definitely not my favorite episode how did you know), the painting that gideon shoots? the one that rossi sees, shattered on the ground, and IMMEDIATELY gets the clue?* ... it's a painting of some hawks eating two dead ducks. Duck Symbolism. DUCK SYMBOLISM.

the painting is called "great footed hawk" by john james audubon. it's honestly really beautiful!

*(also this fact implies that gideon's dying thoughts were of rossi!... but that's a post i've already made❤️)
