PSA: BAD LITTERBOX

i don't usually make posts like this, but this is a truly upsetting topic to me as a lifelong cat owner, so i feel i have a duty to share my knowledge with others.

there is a type of automatic litterbox for cats being sold that is EXTREMELY dangerous and has killed numerous cats through blunt force trauma, suffocation, etc. this litterbox is being sold under different brand names and logos, so i will include the picture of the model and two links to informational videos with more evidence and eloquence than i am able to provide.

please consider not having this type of litterbox in your home for your furry friends. me and my 16 year old tortie, puddy, want the best for all your kitty friends

if I fall silent, I'm sorry but a snake just killed my cat this afternoon

in light of the loss of my cat, angst (which i usually thrive on) is on a temporary hold until i have myself a little more put back together and am not tearing up every five seconds, which will likely be when astormofsilk’s dad finds and kills the snake that bit Charlie so we don’t loose any more pets to it

there are a few of those angst asks in my queue, but i won’t be working on any others until i am not a wreck

currently charging my old phones so I can pull any photos of Charlie off of them

i loved her like you would not believe but on my current phone i have basically no pictures and i am not feeling very good about that

was just informed that i can go pick up Charlie’s remains, it’s been a week but it still doesn’t feel real

Buddy, my mom's dog (who used to be mine as well) has been facing serious health issues that would be both prohibitively expensive and difficult for him at his age to undergo surgery for. My mom, who is disabled, would also not be able to provide the necessary post-surgical care for him. After much thought and consideration, we have come to the difficult decision that it is best for Buddy to be euthanized in a gentle and painless manner, rather than allowing him to continue suffering as his health deteriorates. I would like to have this done at home for both comfort and because we lack a way to transport him to the vet, and also pay for Buddy to be cremated, which adds to the cost. Unfortunately, neither of us are able to bury him ourselves, so cremation is our only option for his remains. Thankfully, someone has offered to help cover the cost of the euthanasia, but the total cost remaining for the vet to take him away after he passes and have him cremated is approximately $500. It's necessary to me that Buddy be laid to rest in a way that is respectful to him and the life he's lead and this is the only option available to us. my paypal is here, and barring that, my kofi is here. i'd genuinely appreciate any kind thoughts and well wishes during this difficult time, as pet death is something that's pretty distressing for trauma reasons. any amount of financial support would be greatly appreciated, but please do not contribute anything that would put you in a difficult financial position. i would not be asking for help if I had any other options for what to do with Buddy's remains after he passes.
