Here are some facial expressions studies of my oc children to fill the void! Their names are Eirian, Rin, Shelly and Dante, and they exist in a magical realism setting where art and city legends meet.

Finally managed to finish one of my sketches! This month was a bit rough, and I’m only a few days way from getting my bachelors diploma… but that’s not what I wanted to tell.
What’s going on in this art? Well, Eirian is one of the protagonists of my (currently unnamed) magical realism setting. Why are there so many butterflies around him? Because it’s an image associated with the soul, its rebirth and transformation and such.
By the way, the painting to the left from Eirian is "Psyche" by John Reinhard. Psyche, or "soul", has butterfly wings as an important attribute. And I'm also thinking about giving Eirian and Rin, another protagonist in this setting, a dynamic referencing Cupid and Psyche.
But if butterflies are the soul, then why are they dead? Good question! There is a person in Eirian's life who wants to control every aspect of his life, his every thought and every action. If it seems to you that the room is strange and unsettling, you are right)) Butterflies pinned to cardboard, skeletons, a broken mirror, a low ceiling – all this is not an accidental choice, but a representation of that person’s mindset.

I haven’t finished reading Dunmeshi yet, but Thistle radiates the vibes of gifted kid>>burnout adult, who tries to fix something but everything get progressively worse despite (because of) his efforts & he’s extremely tired of it & unable to stop at this point
Also the way he’s gone SO far from morality is… quite fitting to his character arc, at least from what I know. Like, his decisions aren’t inherently moral or correct, but that’s part of the reason he’s exiting to observe. Sometimes I just love it when people in media go beyond the borders of extreme for their loved ones, you know?
Great character overall, I love every brief appearance he’s made so far
