My Dearest Editor, I wrote to you some years ago of an ongoing courtship, through the course of which I encountered a fine fellow, with whom I became fast friends. My folly lay in unwitting deception—I had failed to mention to my new friend that I was spoken for, and, in the meantime, he had grown to care for me in a way that extended beyond simple companionship. Well! I have news: the original suitor was a cad, and I have left him, and am the better for it. I have made plans to (1/2)
visit my friend on the morrow. I have not seen him for months, as I had previously been residing at my former suitor’s manse in another state. But I have returned, Dear Editor, to my true home in Georgia, and can at last be reunited with many friends. I only hope that the friend of which I wrote you all that time ago conducts himself with esteem regarding my recent arrival to, as they say, Singlesville. I appreciated your advice greatly, Editor, and wished to inform you of my happiness.
Gentle Reader--
What Excellent News to receive, that One was of Some Use in Addition to, as per Custom, Mildly Amusing. I wish you Great Happiness and Joy Henceforth, though I admit Grave Ignorance to the Geography of Georgia; This Town you mention being One of which I have Never heard. However, there is Something in its Name which strikes me as Distressingly French, and I Therefore hope your New Companion extracts you from that Place as Soon as he is Able! Yours &tc., The Editor
