Alterra Update!

I realize I’ve been gone a while, and I don’t really have an excuse for it. I can’t promise weekly updates anymore, but progress is still being made! Anyways, enjoy this new species roaming the lands of Alterra.

Introducing; Godsends,

Godsends are mortals who inherited a divine natural magic (magic that the caster has by default, without needing to write, speak, or think of runes) They got their name for their reputation of thinking themselves above others and the law. While this is a stereotype, it is unfortunately often accurate. Roughly 80% of confirmed Godsends are wanted or have a bounty of some sort.

Ways to identify

Godsends can be a decent of any species, making it difficult to spot them, except for their one common trait: Every Godsend have eyes that dimly glow pink. Also, if you see something on the lines of “someone created a whirlwind of fire from spinning in a circle with their great sword,” it’s probably a Godsend.

Magic;

They often choose to conduct their natural magic through weapons, due to it requiring less concentration and effort. What their magic capabilities are is essentially random, though they are rarely ever fatal in a single blow. Most of the energy from their attacks is lost as waste, giving a lot of flare for very little result.

It is recommended to avoid them, as many of them are know to be in so called “power cults” that kill people they see as “lesser.” If you encounter a Godsend near a settlement, and are worried of your safety, please inform a local guard patrol to handle the situation. If you see a Godsend in Corkus, report them immediately. The Dwarven High Court has outlawed them in response to the Great Rymek Massacre.
