As Long As Adventure Calls
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x reader
Word Count: 708
Summary: The Doctor is being unusually silent and the reader wonders what’s bothering him. The answer is unexpected, and so are the results.
Warnings:
A/N: I hope you like it!~

The Doctor was silent today. Silence usually wasn’t his forte, but today he was lost in the darkest recesses of his ever-whirring mind.
You hadn’t disturbed him, but you were worried. He had never been so silent before, at least not for as long as you’d known him, which was about a year and a half now if your calculations were correct.
After approximately half a day, you just couldn’t take the silence any more.
“What’s wrong?” you asked the Doctor, and he looked up, meeting your inquisitive gaze with his intense brown one. Even now, after so long, the weight of his gaze startled you. It was old, and full of memories and guilt and so many emotions that churned behind his always-calm façade if you knew where to look.
“There’s nothing wrong,” he said, eyes sparkling with life and mouth tilting upwards in a smile.
You frowned, not believing him. “There is something bothering you. I don’t know what it is, but it is something, and it must be important for you to be that quiet and thoughtful all day long,” you said, and this time he didn’t try to contradict you. You watched, heart breaking slowly, as the smile fell off his face to be replaced by tightly pursed lips, and his eyes lost their lively brightness. He looked tired, lost, defeated. For one moment, you caught a glimpse of exactly how old he was. Every year, every thought and memory and burden he had to carry was evident in the slight slump of his shoulders and the extinguished spark in his eyes.
His loss of control was momentary, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. He was his normal, thoughtful, self just half a second later.
“I’ll tell you what’s wrong, Y/n,” he said with a sigh.
“You’ve been with me for so long -and don’t get me wrong, I love it; I love every single second of it. Every exhilarating adventure we’ve been through has brought me joy and all the seconds we spend together are some of the very best of my entire life. But… if there is one thing I know for certain it’s that every single good thing in life ends. Everyone leaves in the end, no matter how many times they say they’re going to stay. I was wondering… when our time would be over,” he said, sadly looking at you.
You were speechless. Had he really been thinking of all that? And could he honestly think that after all those wonderful things you two had gone through, you would just leave him?
You shook your head. “Doctor, no… Don’t think that way. I won’t leave. Our time isn’t over; not yet. I’ll be here to go on adventures with you for as long as adventures will be there to go on. I promise. I could never leave you,” you say, looking at him with wide, honest, eyes and willing him to understand that you would never willingly give up on him.
He could see the honesty in your eyes. He really wanted to believe you, and in the end that side won.
“Thank you,” he said truthfully. “Thank you for not discarding my worries aside. You care about me the same way I care about you,” he said, taking a few steps closer to you and grasping your hand in his.
“Doctor…” you muttered, and something in his eyes made you want to continue with your spree of truthfulness.
“You can’t care for me the same way I do for you, because… I love you. I love you so much,” you confessed. You didn’t know how to feel about your confession. Part of you wanted to turn the clock backwards and take those words back but the larger, more insistent part of you told you to wait and see.
“You do?” he asked incredulously, and you were surprised to see his eyes light up with a million sparks when you nodded. He grinned and leaned down to press his lips to yours in an eager kiss that made your heart melt in a puddle at your feet.
“That’s a wonderful thing! Because I love you too! And also because we have an adventure waiting!” the Doctor said, his eyes gleaming eagerly.
“Allons-y!”
Staying In
Pairing: Eleventh Doctor x reader
Word Count: 791
Summary: The Doctor and Y/N are just relaxing in the TARDIS.
Warnings: None. Cuteness, if that counts.
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day!

“So, Y/N…. Where to?” asked the Doctor, grinning wildly at you. His grin was so Doctor-ish, so mad and intelligent and confusing all at once that it always managed to leave you weak at the knees. And his face… deceptively so young, it was in reality as old as time itself. Seeing him smile despite everything he’d been through both before and during his travels with you made you content and you smiled in return, because if a man who’d seen so much destruction and had suffered through losses the like of which the universe had never seen before could smile and be full of joy, then so could you; so could anyone.
“Well… to tell you the truth, Doctor, I just want to stay inside for once,” you told him and saw a look of confusion cross his face. You always were eager to cross time and space to see new galaxies and visit places long-forgotten or not-yet created, so your denial was an unusual reaction.
“You do?” he asked with a frown, taking a seat next to you on the floor of the TARDIS’s control room, bringing his legs up to his chest and hugging them.
You nodded. “Yeah. It’s not like I never want to go on a journey again, I just… I want some rest. You know, stay inside with a book, take a long shower or just talk with you. It’s been such a long time since I last took a breath while knowing that nothing wants to kill me or that the end of some world or other is nigh,” you said, closing your eyes and taking a deep, relaxing breath and then letting it out again.
“Please. Just for today. You could do with the rest too,” you added, blindly reaching out to pat his knee.
You felt him startle at the contact and you opened your eyes and turned to face him, staring into his green eyes.
“Okay,” he said, nodding, only after a short period of silence. “Let’s rest, if so you wish. But tomorrow, first thing after we wake up, we leave. We go see the most peculiar and interesting corners of the universe that ever existed or will exist,” he said, his green eyes sparkling as he spoke fondly about the world.
“Yes. I’d like that,” you said, and then you stayed silent. Both of you just sat there, looking at each other in companionable and comfortable silence. He was smiling brightly, fondly at you, and you hoped that your own smile was just as affectionate and radiant.
“What do we do now?” he asked, and his question drifted off into oblivion, as you didn’t reply.
You didn’t know what to say. What did two people do when they were alone together in a time machine in which they had travelled the stars? What could two people who had no secrets from each other, no misgivings or doubts and who had done and seen everything do?
There was no answer to that, at least not one that you knew, so you remained silent, because silence always was the best option when you had nothing left to say.
As you should have known though, the Doctor didn’t like the silence much. He could only hold your gaze for so long before he started shifting uncomfortably where he was sitting and sometimes looking away.
You looked away too, sighed, and closed your eyes to rest them for a minute. Your hand was still resting on his knee and you felt rather than saw his own bigger hand cover yours.
“Look at me again,” he said simply, and you opened your eyes to meet his gaze again, but this time something had changed.
His eyes, the look in them, had changed now. It was heated, needy, and shifted from your eyes to your lips all the time.
Deciding to take the initiative, you leaned closer to him, fighting to keep your breath steady as you could feel his own warm up your face.
With a last decisive gulp and a thought that shyness could go to hell, you closed the distance that separated your lips and pulled him into a long, passionate kiss. Your tongue traced the outline of his lips as he panted into your mouth and his one hand clenched in his hair just as his other slid down to your waist, pulling you closer.
Eventually, you pulled away, both grinning brightly -too brightly- and then you finally spoke.
“I have an answer to your question now,” you said breathily, a smirk on your lips.
“What question?” he asked.
“About what we’re gonna do,” you replied.
“And what’s the answer?” he inquired again.
“This,” you replied and leaned closer to kiss him again.
Wherever You Are
Pairing: Tenth Doctor x reader
Word Count: 604
Summary: The Doctor is acting unusually shy, and it’s up to the reader to find out why.
Warnings: Fluff
A/N: Happy birthday to David Tennant! <3

The Doctor is a lot of things, but shy is not one of them. He’s brave and intelligent and daring, but under no circumstances is he shy, unless he’s acting. He does that often to get you both out of trouble, but timid is not one of the words one would use to describe him, and they would be absolutely right not to use it.
Thing is, right now, he’s very obviously shy. He’s fiddling with his Sonic Screwdriver and occasionally muttering to himself and avoiding your inquisitive and curious gaze like the plague.
Still, that doesn’t stop you from staring at him.
Well, to be precise, staring at his suit-jacket-covered back as he tinkers around with stuff in the control room of the TARDIS, refusing to let you see his face -which is flushed red by now, and you have no idea why- and not uttering a word or making a sound.
All in all, his behaviour is very un-Doctor-like, and it shows no sign of changing anytime soon unless you do something.
“Doctor,” you call out at some point, and he is so startled by the sound of your voice that he turns around, dropping his Sonic Screwdriver as he does so.
“Y-yes, Y/n?” The Doctor stutters, which also is very weird for him.
You decide to tackle the problem head-on and not sugarcoat things.
“Is everything okay?” you ask him, an expression of concern on your face, the worry probably evident in your voice too.
“Um…” he falters, thinking of what to say next. “Why do you ask that?” he finally decides on answering your question with an inquiry of his own.
Sighing and rolling your eyes, you smile at him. “I’m glad you asked that, actually, because you have given me lots of reasons to think that you are not okay. First off, you’ve been ignoring me for the biggest part of the day without an explanation, and you’ve been acting nervous and… I think you were blushing at some point, too,” you explain, and his nervousness returns full force.
“Well… you’re right. I am a bit off today, but I have a very, very good reason for being like this,” he says, assuming a matter-of-fact tone and straightening up.
“I want to take you out on a date,” he states confidently, only a small hesitation in which he licks his lips betraying his nervousness.
“What do you say? Will it be a yes or a no?” he asks, seeming a bit like an impatiently expectant child.
You are taken aback by his unusual request, but it doesn’t seem bad to you and, well, if he really means it then that would explain why he was acting weirdly before.
“A date? What kind of a date?” you ask, just to clarify, because you can never be one hundred percent sure when it comes to the Doctor and the bizarre things he asks you to do. You, of course, want it to be the kind of date two people who like each other quite a lot go on, but, as you said, one can never be sure with the Doctor.
He blushes again.
“Well… I was thinking the more romantic kind of date, somewhere nice and cosy like, say, the Titanic before it sank or the Earth’s moon, or another planet entirely,” the Doctor suggests, and you can’t say no. You don’t want to, either. You want to say yes, yes, yes.
“Yes,” you finally reply, smiling at him. “Though doesn’t the Titanic sound a bit extreme? We might be tempted to save people if we make friends with them, and that would disturb the time stream, right?” you ask, and he nods, excited at the fact that you have learned the rules of time.
“You’re right. I wasn’t thinking properly. Where do you want to go?” he asks again, apparently very excited at the prospect of the date.
You chuckle and blush, rather excited yourself.
“Um… well, let’s just go wherever you want. The universe is huge, and you know it better than I do,” you say, and he nods.
“Right!” he says, walking up closer to you and pulling you into a hug.
“Of course!” he exclaims then, pulling back from the hug, but pressing his lips to yours in an excited kiss that sends tingles running through your body.
You can only stare at him as he runs around, pulling levers and pushing buttons, and soon the TARDIS is wheezing, signalling its departure.
“Where are we going?” you ask, smiling radiantly at him, glad to be met with the usual bright, a bit crazy, look in his eyes.
“To my favourite place in the entire universe,” he says with a grin.
“Where’s that?” you ask, and he pulls you closer to kiss you once again.
“Wherever you are.”
If you do requests, could you do the 11th Doctor × reader? With The Doctor finding out you either have bullies or abusive parents (sorry, I'm in the mood for angst), but the reader tried to hide it because they didn't want to burden him?
Pairing: Eleventh Doctor x readerWarnings: Mentions of bullying/abusive parents. A/N: this is a request. I know you said either bullies or abusive parents, but I couldn’t resist the angst. Hope it’s okay! ^_^
Ever since you left your home and started travelling with the Doctor, things changed. You felt… different. Better. More alive than you had back at your hometown. You were finally free to be yourself when you were with him and laughter and smiles came easily, no longer a smoke screen to hide your traumas and scars but something real, something concrete. He hadn’t known you before you started travelling with him so he couldn’t see the difference but you felt it, and every day with him only became better and better. He quite literally gave you life, and you wanted to continue travelling with him forever. All good things must end though, as the saying goes. On a day that initially seemed to be just like any other, you woke up and were all smiles in spite of your drowsiness as you went to greet the Doctor, smoothing down your shirt and stifling a yawn in your hand as you walked up to him in the control room of the TARDIS. He looked inexplicably happy to see you, and his grin was rivalled by none other you had seen on him. “Y/N! You’re awake!” He stated the obvious as he turned to face you, but you couldn’t find it in you to tease him as he just looked so happy with himself. “Yeah, I am,” you said smilingly. “What’s up with you? You seem to be far too bright for this hour of the morning,” you said, emphasising your words with another yawn. “It might be morning for you, but it is the middle of the day for someone else. We’ve been over this again and again, but time is a confusing concept.”You rolled your eyes in response and leaned against the first empty surface you found, sighing. “Okay, okay, I get it - I can be repetitive. But I promise you the place we’re gonna go visit is one I’m sure you’ll love. It’s going to be the best surprise ever.” He sounded so confident that you didn’t ask him anything about where you were going. You blindly trusted his judgement; he said jump and you asked how high. He had saved your life multiple times, and never given you any reason to mistrust him, ever. “Okay, Doctor, okay. Just give me an ETA and I’ll find a way to occupy myself without knowing where we’re going. Oh, by the way, what should I wear?” As you were travelling in time and space, you had to change out of your casual clothes and wear something different more often than not, so his nonchalant response of ‘what you have on is fine’ as he fiddled with the controls was unexpected. It was alright though, because not having to change or do research about your next escapade left you time to do something you liked a lot. Observe him. He always was at his best when concentrating, his brows furrowed just so and his eyes so intense you felt like you were burning under his stare if it was directed to you. Merely seeing him like that made you smile most of the time, and it was no different then. That smile would quickly get wiped off your face though when you reached your destination. Excited as a child who got what he wanted for Christmas, he bounded over to the door and opened it, his excited demeanour washing over you and making you feel that warm excited feeling in the pit of your stomach as well. “So, here we are! Y/N, I present to you: home,” the Doctor said, smile wide and happy and honest, and he walked outside happily, proudly. Feeling as if you had been doused in ice water, robbed of your positive feelings, you stood frozen, clutching the rails in front of you so tightly your knuckles turned white. The Doctor was already far from the TARDIS when he noticed you weren’t following after him, and when he turned back only to see you pale as a sheet, he frowned in confusion. “Hey, why aren’t you following? We’re here to see your home. You said you’d been studying abroad, so… I thought…” He sounded progressively more uncertain as he frowned and walked back to you, paling when he saw just how much you were shaking. “I… can’t. There’s a reason I left, and… please. I can’t go out there,” you mumbled, eyes wide and your grip on the rail so tight it was painful. “What’s wrong?” The Doctor was next to you now, gently taking your hands in his and looking at you with concern in his eyes. He was even gentler as he let go of your hands to hug you, pulling your quaking body close to his, running a hand over your back comfortingly.“I don’t wanna go. Please don’t make me. Please.” You were begging now, and you didn’t like it, but you had no other choice. He had to understand that there was no way you were going to get out of the TARDIS, and if you had to drop on your knees and beg then so be it. This was bigger than your pride. “Hey, hey, I won’t. You don’t have to get out there. Just… tell me why?” He asked, sounding confused and bewildered, but also so, so kind and supportive. “A bad childhood,” you murmured, closing your eyes and burying his face into the closest part of his body you could find, inhaling shakily and hugging him tightly. “I want to escape the memories. It was bad here for me… very bad. I like it here, now. With you. I’m not alone anymore.”You were still trembling occasionally, but your heartbeat had calmed down, and your grip on the back of the Doctor’s jacket wasn’t as tight as it had been. The distress was obvious in the taut lines of your body and the tears staining the Doctor’s shirt, but he said nothing. “Alone? Why were you alone?” He sounded disbelieving, like nobody could ever leave you alone, and that gave you some hope because you knew he thought highly of you. You didn’t want to explain, but you felt the burning need to confess to him, to admit to this like you never had before. “My parents, they… got into a lot of fights with each other. My mum slept around and my dad was angry even though it was his fault. So they fought; even got violent sometimes. And I… got caught in the middle of it. Constantly. They didn’t care, so I had to hide my bruises and limp my way to school, where things weren’t any better. They…” You trailed off, shuddering and choking back a sob. “They smelled weakness in me, so they bullied me. I returned home with more bruises and more scars, but the physical harm wasn’t what hurt the most. It’s passed now. It’s what I feel that’s been damaged. I hated myself so much… I told myself I deserved what I got for being weak and worthless. I guess I’m no different now…” You finished, sighing miserably. You shouldn’t have said all this. Now the Doctor would think you weak as well, and you couldn’t have that. Not from him. Not when you felt so strongly for him. The Doctor just shook his head and put his thumb beneath your chin, making you look at him. You reluctantly met his gaze, which was still soft and tender, and sighed. “I’m sorry.”“Don’t be. You’re not weak, Y/N. You’re strong. So strong. And so, so amazing. You’re the best,” he declared and leaned in, impulsively brushing his lips against yours. You almost melted in his arms, sighing contentedly and deepening the kiss, not believing this was happening. If this was a dream, you wanted to make the most of it. Apparently, it wasn’t a dream, because the Doctor in front of you was warm and solid and smiling. “You’re strong. So strong. That’s why I like you so much, you never give up. You’re amazing. Never forget that.”
BIRTHDAY GIRL

pairings: eleventh doctor x fem!reader (romantic), amy pond x fem!reader, rory williams x fem!reader
summary: the chaos of your boyfriend the doctor, amy, and rory organising your birthday. but seems there’s some miscommunication and clashes when it comes to agreeing.
warnings: none! fluff, bickering between eleven rory and amy over who knows you better, kisses, hugs, short blurb
a/n: no clue why i haven’t yet written for one of my fav shows yet
you’re slumber is ruined by extremely loud voices originating in the kitchen. it wasn’t even morning in your eyes yet everyone was awake. eleven being awake made sense but rory and amy? especially amy with how cranky she gets. speaking of eleven, he wasn’t in bed.
which wasn’t odd since he quite literally didn’t need sleep but he usually got out of bed when you woke up. you’d find him reading, tossing a ball up and down, talking to himself and you, some of the more tame times. once you found him trying to do gymnastics in bed.
as you got up and made your way into the kitchen you found the three of them with a cake. “no! no! you’ve got it wrong her hair isn’t that short rory!” amy scolded as rory sighed, “i swear it is! did she not get a haircut?” amy slapped him upside the head which had the doctor laughing, “that was me you dummy. and you, quit laughing and get to icing.” the doctor raised his hands,
“ah but you see, i already have!” rory and amy’s gasps were loud. “green! you put green love hearts on the cake and- is that a hat? oh god is it a fez? and a bow tie?” amy groaned as eleven reached to adjust his own, “bow ties are cool.” the three of them spoke in unison, “i quite adore your bow tie collection eleven.” rory’s eyes widened as he realised you’d seen them. “no, no, no, no! you are not supposed to be here.”
so you wait in the living room in the meanwhile. not long after the three come in, all holding a, special cake. whilst from one side it looked gorgeous the other was a mess. you spotted a drawing of the four of you holding hands, the tardis in the background and it looked as if a five year old had drawn it.
the party in the living room has copious amounts of clashing colours and themes and they all had flour and icing on their faces and clothes. “we’re sorry for ruining it.” amy frowned, they all looked like kicked puppies and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“ruin it? i’ve got to be one of the luckiest girls around to have three people love me so much that they fought over my birthday and what to do for it. i love the cakes and the party. thank you guys. seriously.” you smiled as everyone slowly cheered up.
“you like it seriously?” rory asked as you laughed, “yes i do you idiot.” you pulled them all into a tight hug as you all laughed. you registered the rogue hand placing a certain fez on you’re head.
“now who needs party hats when we have these bad boys.” the doctor grinned as you placed the fez at the centre of your head. “i’ve never looked better.” he smiled at you, “never.” you kissed him sweetly, a hand on his cheek as you glanced over at rory and amy fussing over who got to give you the first slice.
“yeah, i wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.” you had your people right here.
writing is such an art form and i love all writers
this is soooo good

Last part first
"Help me. Remind me why I'm here."
-Kim Addonizio, from 'Death Poem', Wild Nights: New and Selected Poems.
"What are they?" Your voice shakes. The creatures in front of you move and shift along the shadows. Their eyes are hungry. Feeding off of the very being of you.
"Eaters of time." The Doctor spoke from beside you. Quiet. Soft. Almost scared if one could believe it. You glance up at him as he still stares back at the creatures.
"Eaters of time?" You ask. One of them lurches forward and the Doctor places you behind him. His sonic whirs uselessly against them. The darkness they spread swallows the little green light. "Doctor." You whisper. "Doctor please. What are they?"
You have never seen that look on his face before. So broken. Empty. You've seen his joy, his anger, his sorrow. This. It.
"They eat time, Y/n. Specifically the time someone has lived. They eat it. Consume it. Almost immortal because of their hunger." He pulls you away from him and towards the open forest the two of you had trekked god knows how long ago. "I'm sorry." He gives you a hug. Presses a kiss to your brow. "I am so sorry. But I need you to run. Go. To the Tardis. She'll take you home."
"I'm not leaving you!" The creatures surge as your voices rises. "Doctor. I will not leave you." You voice is hoarse. Your body strung tight. Muscles and a base primal fear begging you to do just that. Run.
His face hardens and you catch a glimpse of the Doctor that only those who whisper his name in fear have witnessed. Not at you. No. But that foolish heart of yours. The one that begs to stay. To help.
"I need you to run. Now." He begins to push you away from it all. Away from the baying creatures. The forest seems to grow. To swallow the both of you as he pushes you further and further away. "Go! Before they-"
First part second
"Let me sit here, on the threshold of two worlds. Lost in the eloquence of silence."
-Jalalud'din Rumi (1207-1273) 13th century mystic and poet.
"One of the most beautiful forests in this galaxy." The Doctor whirls as he steps in front of you. Throwing the Tardis doors open with a flourish he grins. "Y/n I give you Tenebris Silva."
Beautiful indeed. The forest had a dark ethereal beauty to it. Shadows clung to the spaces in-between. White fog flowed and clung to the trunks of the trees. Deer like animals peered from around them. Their large eyes catching the light from inside the Tardis before darting off into the darkness.
The trees were such a deep green they matched the eternally night sky. The tops brushing the sky as if they were painting the smattering of stars and clouds high above. They moved and swayed with the breeze. Creaked and groaned as the wood fought against the wind far above.
All you could do was look in aw. Spinning on the spot as your feet dug into soft earth and pine needles. The air was so sweet. So clear and clean. It was if you were taking a breath of air for the first time. You breathed in deeply. As if you were trying to etch this air into your lungs. Commit it to memory so you would never forget.
You could hear the Doctor laugh as you did this. You must have looked a little silly you thought. Spinning about like a child. Still, you didn't stop. Trying to drink in every bit of this place you could. Trying to remember it so that one day you could look back. Such a happy memory it would be.
The Tardis doors closed and for a brief moment you were plunged into darkness. The half moon provided little light. As did the stars far away as they were. You jumped when you felt the Doctors hand land on your shoulder. A flashlight was pressed into your hands as the Doctor turned his own on.
"Come along then. There's a cabin here." The two of you began to walk. The Doctor stopped. Muttered to himself then began walking in the complete opposite direction. You couldn't help the laugh that escaped you. "Oh hush you. Unless you don't want to see the once in a lifetime meteor shower." You really did laugh at this.
"You wouldn't." You nudged his shoulder with yours. He tried to keep that angry look on his face but it soon fell.
"No. Not to you." His free arm wrapped around your shoulder. "But you'll love it. When they fall they light up every color you could ever imagine. It's like a firework show but better." His head dipped low. "And I can guarantee whatever you are imagining isn't even going to compare to what you are about to see." He pulled his head up. "Although that doesn't mean that you lack imagination. Or that you don't have a brilliant mind or." You stopped him by shining your flashlight in his face.
"Stop it you." You turn your head shining your light about the lightly worn path the two of you were taking. It was more of a deer trail really. A thin worn dirt path with a decent amount of brush on either side. "How far is it to this cabin?" You shiver. The planet may have an eternal night but it was no colder than a normal night on Earth.
"Not far." The Doctor responded. "Tired already? The fun hasn't even begun! We're supposed to." He stopped. Shined his light away from the path. You followed yours with it.
"Doctor?" You ask. Peering around him as he plucked something off of the brush next to him. You heard him hum as he brought it in front of him so you could see.
"Fabric. That's strange. No one else is supposed to be here. Or have been here for a long time." The fabric was a dark denim. Similar to the jacket you were wearing now. The Doctor moved it about. Checking it every which way. He brought it to his nose and gave it quite the loud sniff.
You arched a brow and chuckled. "That smell any good?" The Doctor looks to you. Shakes his head. He looked as if he were trying to recall something. He pockets the fabric and pulls you along the path.
"It's nothing. Probably. Maybe." The two of you broke through the brush. The tree line opening up to an open field with the cabin in the center of it. The ground breaks off to a cliff face with mountains jutting above the horizon. "And no. It didn't smell good." The both of you laugh.
The cabin is dark and very very big. It toward at least three stories and spread the length of a football field and then some. There was no electricity either. Candles and lanterns lined the walls. The Doctor flicked his sonic as the two of you entered. The inside of the cabin bathed in soft orange light.
The floor was carpeted. Paintings hung on every available inch of wall. Only broken by cabinets or hanging plants. The air smelled of something familiar to you. One you couldn't place.
You took the time to look around while the Doctor scribbled away in what you assumed to be a log book. Like the kind that hotel owners have. You brushed your fingers along the frame of one of the paintings. Was this place a hotel? You would have to ask the Doctor.
"Alright! Off to our rooms then." The Doctor spun bringing his hands together. The lanterns lit themselves as the two of you climbed a flight of stairs to the next floor.
You couldn't help but get a weird sense of deja'vu as you walked. Something bugging you in the the back of your mind. You shrugged your shoulders as a shiver ran down your back. While the Doctor was unlocking the door to one of your rooms you glanced back down the hallway. The further down it went it seemed like the darkness swallowed the light.
Your ears began to ring as your continued to look about. Something. Something wasn't entirely right. One of the lanterns flicked before going out briefly. Cold washed over you and you couldn't help but feel like you were being watched.
"Y/n?" The Doctor's head popped over your shoulder as he looked down the hallway with you. You jumped and spun on the spot. A hand over your know rapidly beathing heart.
"Jesus Doctor! You scared the life out of me." He looked from down the hallway to you. A curious look on his face.
"Are you alright?" His hands were on your shoulders. Eyes searching your face as if he could find the answer he was looking for there.
"Ya. I." You stuttered out. "I was just lost in thought in all." At this he gave a soft huff.
"Must have been some thought." His voice was quiet. "Anyways. Your room!" The door swung open to reveal a lavish room. A large canopied bed with sheer, wine red curtains. A dark chestnut chest sat at the end of it. As you walked through the door you saw a plush couch that matched the color of the bed. In the center of the room was a small table with chairs at either side.
"This looks like something my parents would love to be in." You said. You turned. Brushing your hand along the fabric of the couch. Then again. That smell. Something so familiar you could almost place it. It was stronger here. "That being said. It's beautiful Doctor." The Time Lord in question was leaning against the door frame. A soft smile on his lips. "Thank you for taking me here." You genuinely meant it. Everything this man has shown you. You wish you had more than just words you could say.
"No need for thanks y/n." He pushed himself away from the doorframe. "Cards?" He pulls a deck from his pocket. How deep those things are you'll never know. You've seen him pull out things that range from childrens toys to tools, and the oddball snack.
"You always win though." You grumbled. "It's not fair." Despite your protests you sat down at the table. The Doctor had already been dealing out the cards.
"Ace of spades?" You asked with a yawn. The cards blurred in your hand. It could have been ace of spades. It could have been the queen of hearts.
"Go fish." Another yawn. You pull out a card from the half hazard pile on the table.
"Doctor?" You ask. Shuffling the cards around in your hand. You had well over ten cards. Maybe more. The Doctor hummed in response. "It's late." You laid the cards face down on the table.
The Doctor turned his wrist. Checking the time. "That it is." He shuffled his cards. Picked his head up. "Oh." His mouth rested in a small o. Slightly looking away. "Oh! You need to sleep!" He laid his own cards down. Standing up as he took in your tired state. Head rested on your hand. Eyes struggling to stay open. Slightly nodding as you tried to stay within the waking world. "Oh you need to get to bed."
You were laughing as the Doctor lifted you to your feet. "Come on to bed with you." You through your jacket on the table. "Humans. Really I forget sometimes." You doubted that. The poor man was apologizing left and right as you unlaced your boots. Tossing them to the left of you somewhere.
"Doctor its fine." You were sat on the edge of the bed. You almost sunk into it the mattress was so soft. "Really." Instead of listening he was rattling off everything that could happen with sleep deprivation and "Really. It's ridiculous how much you lot need to sleep. Oh what am I going to do." You tuned him out after a bit. Instead choosing to lay back onto the bed.
There. Again. That familiar scent. Sort of woodsy. It was clean and bright with something spiced at the end. What was it? You turned your head.
Oh. Your bag.
When did you bring that?
Sure enough there was your backpack. The poor thing was worn in a lot of places but you used it every time you stayed the night somewhere. It was essentials mostly. Toiletries. Extra clothes. Phone charger and camera. And your perfume.
You sat up abruptly. The Doctor stopped his rambling then. He was watching you as you pulled the bag into your lap. You were digging around when he came next to you. There. The bottle.
You pulled your perfume out of the bag and looked at the bottle. It was something you used almost all the time. This one was brand new though.
The bottle was halfway empty. Did you put the wrong one in?
"When did I bring this?" You whispered to yourself. Head tilting as you tried to remember when you had packed the bag let alone brought it with you. The Doctor said nothing as you placed the bottle back inside the bag. There was something in the air between the two of you. Something you were both forgetting. Something important.
"Time for bed. Ya?" You spoke after a moment. You looked up at the Doctor. The two of you staring at one another for a moment. Something unspoken passing between the both of you.
"Sleep well. I'm right across the hall." The Doctor told you. You didn't move even after he had left the room. The smell of chocolate and patchouli lingering in the room when he did. It fades after a few minutes.
You're sat at the edge of the bed. The pajama's you planned to change into sitting in your lap. There was just something you were unable to shake. How was it you were able to smell your perfume when you've never been here before? And your bag. How was it here? You didn't remember grabbing it when you left the Tardis.
And that scrap of fabric. The one the Doctor had tucked away. " No one else is supposed to be here. Or have been here for a long time." The Doctors words echo in your thoughts. Then how was it here? Just how long has this planet been alone for?
A once in a lifetime experience. Then how come there wasn't more people? This place could house hundreds upon hundreds of people and their families.
You change into sweats and a long sleeve t shirt. Laying your old clothes on the table you had been playing cards on just moments ago. Your jacket. You couldn't help but stare. Something you wore quite often. An unassuming piece of fabric you had never really given a second thought to before.
You shook your head and laughed at yourself. You were being silly. Thinking to deeply into something that wasn't event there. Drawing the covers back you crawl into bed. The Sheets were smooth and silky. Soft against you as you sunk down into the mattress.
Sleep came quickly and easily. Your body and mind to tired to be able to do much else.
Second part Third
"I am fragile and Unholy. Open. Ravage. Eat."
-Tanaka Mhishi, Literary sexts II ( Via Ghost tears)
Something was horribly wrong. What it was he didn't know. And oh how he hates not knowing. Especially when the lives of one of his companions were on the line.
There were clues here. Blaringly obvious clues that go together. He just couldn't figure out how. There, in the woods. A scrap of fabric torn from y/n's jacket. It was clearly theirs. The scent of their perfume still clung to it. And it was here to, in the hotel. It floated in the air so thickly he could almost taste it. What was normally a scent he found comforting and refreshing turned his stomach.
Why. Just why would they do that? Why would they do something that made it so clear that they were here before?
Then there was the ledger. Names upon names from hours ago. The planet had a day night cycle that would last one earth week before plunging back into the day. They're names were at the top. So why was it dark?
The Doctor found himself leaving his room. Stopping momentarily in front of y/n's door. His ear pressed against the wood. He could hear their breathing. The soft speaking they always did. Although they didn't admit it. Safe. They should be safe for now.
He opened one door. Then another. And another.
Each one was filled to the brim of life. A lack of people but clearly it had been lived in not to long ago.
The last door he checked he opened so harshly it smacked against the walls. The door bouncing back with a mock laughter as he entered. His sonic went wild as he scanned the room. His twin hearts began their panicked beating before his own thoughts could catch up.
They needed to leave. And now.
Chronophage. Chronophage . Chronophage . Chronophage .
The words were painted on every single wall and every available surface there was. The Doctor brushed his fingers against the paint. It was tacky. Not quiet dried yet.
"Time eater." His body rushed with cold. "Time eater." He spoke again.
That 's why. Oh they were most defiantly here before. It could have been days. Weeks. Months. The Doctor turned on heel. Running back down the length of the hallway. There was no knowing on how long it has been. But he knew that y/n had less time to give. They could gorge themselves on the lives he's lived. Let them take it all.
But them? Oh gods not them.
He was rounding the corner when he heard it. Palm pressed against the wall as he steadied himself. Paintings fell. Crashed to the floor.
His body when ridged when a shrill scream echoed down the hall.
If he could he would have ran faster. Willed his body to do so. Praying with the names he knew that they would be ok.
Crashing and banging.
"Doctor!"
He has never heard them scream like that.
.
Something had woken you from your sleep. It wasn't that uncommon for you to wake multiple times when in a new place. You body to on edge to truly fall into a deep sleep. Every strange noise would have you tossing and turning.
So the next time you woke you took a moment to just lay there. Eyes closed as you listened to the sounds around you. There was the softness of your breathing. The creaking of the hotel settling. Somewhere outside and animal bayed. Calling out to the moon that filtered light through the curtains canopying your bed.
You were warm and comfortable. Cradled by the thick blankets and pillows surrounding you. You breathed in deeply. Sighed. Another deep breath and.
What was that?
Fabric rustled in front of you. The sound of skin gliding across silken material hit your ears next. You stilled. Cold washing over you as your began to realize that you were not alone. The bed dipped next to you. The wood creaking and groaning from the added weight.
Your breathing stuttered. Everything stilled.
For a moment you tried to convince yourself that it was the Doctor. That he was just playing a cruel joke on you. But you couldn't find the smell of chocolate and patchouli. A scent you found comforting. Safe.
No. No. No.
Something hovered above your cheek. Something so cold you could feel it before it even touched you.
Your body wound itself tightly. Your heart pounding a rhythm in your chest. Your fist balled beneath your pillow.
And with a yell you struck. Cried out.
The creature screamed as it scrambled backwards. Taking the curtains and the blankets with it.
Move. You needed to move.
You were glued to the spot. Sitting near the edge of the bed but to terrified to move. You tried to. Tried to at least yell. To cry out for the Doctor.
Everything stilled.
The fabric on the floor moved. Going up like a joked attempt of a sheet ghost before falling away from the figure it was draped on.
It was tall and skinny. Skin going from hues of grey to a deep rich black. That black seemed to swallow it. To consume the room. You could almost feel it. It was so close to being tangible that you could feel pinpricks hit your skin. It was painful. Almost fire like.
It's head tilted. Golden eyes widening when it saw you move. Just a twitch of your leg.
It leaned forward.
Move.
It's hand brushed the now bare mattress.
Move.
The darkness followed with it. Flowed over the white of the mattress.
MOVE!
And you did. Falling backwards onto the floor before scrambling to your feet. The creature stood to move with you but got caught on the railings for the curtains. You took this brief moment to grab your boots before darting to the door.
A shrill scream left you lips when you heard it growl and snarl. It toppled the bed in its anger. The tables and chairs being thrown to the side as you crossed the threshold of the door.
"Doctor!" A sob tore through your throat. Nothing but desperation left your lips.
'"Y/N!" The Doctor caught you in his arms. Held you closely as your body shook. "We have to go. We need to go. Now." The both of you turned towards what was once your room. The creature inside was yelling. Crying. Upset that you had left.
Quickly you pulled your boots on. Allowing the Doctor to take you hand the two of you ran from the hotel. Down the halls. All but flying down the stairs and towards the large double doors the two of you had crossed not long ago.
Third part Last
"If there is a light then I am going to swallow it. If there is a god then i'm going to make him cry."
-s.osborn, from "blasphemies as the 5th street station, " published in The Rising Phoenix review (vialifeinpoetry)
The forest was dark. Deep and heavy as it swallowed the both of you. The creatures would not leave you be. They followed every step you took. Swallowed every sound you made. The two of you were prey in the worst way possible. A horrid game of cat and mouse as they turned you around again and again.
The Doctor had explained the best he could. These paradoxil creatures. That the two of you had lived this moment more than once. They would send their victims back again and again with a little less of themselves each time.
They consume the life you have lived and use it for themselves. They take and take and take until they are almost immortalized. Their own veritable fountain of youth.
Their victims would becomes less of themselves each time. Losing pivotable live moments that shaped them into who the had become. Entire lifetimes lost until they became a husk. Unable to do anything more that live on a robotic life. And many did not last long afterwards.
You could see the path that others took. Deep footsteps pressed into soft dirt. They had dropped things ranging from clothes and jewelry. Childrens toys and the odd suitcase here and there.
"We helped them." The Doctor told you. Spinning in circles as he tried to use his sonic to find the Tardis. The poor girl was calling out to him. A victim in this just as much as you were. "There." The Doctor stilled. The light of the sonic bright and green. It sung out a high pitched tune as you stumbled up next to the Doctor.
You were tired and worn. Mentally exhausted and hurt from head to toe. Both of you were in a sorry state. The Doctor had lost his dress coat. His bowtie had been torn away and the white of his shirt was slowly being stained a muddied brown. You were no better. Holes in your shirt from where the brush tore it. There was mud stained from hip to ankle from when you tripped.
There again. There they were. Slinking around the trees. Calling out to you. Hungry. They were so hungry.
You were pulled away from them. The Doctors hand was on your upper arm. His face was alight with worry. "Run." The word was whispered. Desperate as he spoke to you.
Run you did. Cut off time and time again the closer you got to the Tardis. They were not going to let you go.
"Why won't they let us go." It was a broken sob that left your lips. To worn and tired to truly care about the way you sounded. You wanted to go back to the Tardis. To find comfort in her and the Doctor as the two of you tried to put this all behind you.
"Me. They won't let me." The Doctor drew you in close. "I am sorry. So so sorry." He hid you away from the world for just a moment. He could see the Tardis in the distance. She called out to him. Begged him to come back. To bring the two of you back to her where she could get the both of you to safety. To anywhere but here.
He could feel you tremble and shake. The soft push you gave as you tried to get even closer to him. "No." He felt you mutter into his neck. "No. I know what you mean by that." You pulled away. "I will not let you sacrifice yourself. We leave. Together or not at all."
The Doctor, for the first time, cursed you humanity. Cursed the fact that you cared so deeply. He pressed his head to yours. His hand curling around the back of your neck. You could hear him speaking. Muttering in a language that the Tardis refused to translate. Even now. In this moment.
The creatures. The Chronophage. You could hear them. Speaking. Whispering. Calling out to you. Begging you to help them. That they were starving. Near death. How could you be so selfish just feed them.
For a brief moment you see it. The meteor shower the Doctor had brought you to see. The reason why you were even here. It seemed the shower itself were in your eyes. It took your breath away as the air around you lit up in color.
The Doctor had pulled away. Watched you as you watched the sky. Something you would never have seen in your lifetime if it had not been for him. He has seen this before. Time and time again he would come back. He was grateful that in this moment, despite the horror around him, he got to see it though you. Such a soft look on your face as you forgot about the beasts around you.
Chronophage. Time eaters. Eater of time. There is only a few names that made the Doctor fear for his life.
It would be a miracle if you two made it out of here. Already the both of you had lost pieces of yourself that would never return. Moments in time that you will never get back. The simplest things shaping you into who you were. And not for the first time the Doctor mourns your loss.
There. The Tardis. Just feet away.
Already he was losing you. The creatures were feasting even as the two of you ran. The Tardis had thrown her doors open. Calling out as loud as she was able. Soft yellow light bathing the ground in front of her.
Not again. She would not lose the both of you again.

You were walking down a street crying, again. You were a young university student. You were learning about psychology you wanted to help people one day, but you had to admit you could not even help yourself or your family. Family issues were nothing new to you. The screaming, the fighting, the silence...nothing new. You hated it when this happens. You always feel so helpless. Your family is shouting at each other, hurting each other and you ...you are just helpless... You begged them to stop, you really tried to make things better. You always did everything to make them proud, so that they maybe would have no reason to fight, but oh how wrong and naive you had been. You probably could be the first woman at mars and they still would keep fighting about, actually everything, but mostly because of you. You have always been quiet shy and silent, but also always had a living fantasy seeing in this world so much more than most would see. You always dreamed of visiting the stars or different times one day. Yet the only thing that your parents did was blaming each other because their daughter was somehow strange. They never realized that you began to chance when they started fighting. That your little head and heart and had not seen any other way to survive the pain than to run to fantastic worlds. It was one of this days again, again they had been fighting. You still lived with them because the university was close but on this kind of days you just wished you were far far away. You felt so helpless and so so alone. Your few friends went to other universities and you were too shy to make new ones. Of course you could call your friends but it was night and you were always afraid that one day they would be fed up with you, for being so helpless and broken and just leave you. Even more tears were falling now. You did not even see the street anymore, until you suddenly walked into something. You expected to fall down but someone caught you. “I-I..” you wanted to say you were sorry, but your sobs just would not let you. Strangely the person holding you did not seem angry, was not shouting at you. The arms only were holding you even tighter, pulling you closer “Well, hello~ You must have had an awful day my dear” you heard a mans voice. It sounded strong, somehow wise, yet nice, caring but also like a person with authority and had definitely a strong British accent, well nothing strange with that you were in London after all. You felt him softly rub your back:” Hey, it's okay, your okay..well okay you are crying but nothing I cannot fix..we cannot fix, I mean you will be alright dear” to your surprise his rambling really made you chuckle, which sounded a bit broken, because you were still crying badly. It was strange , why was he so kind to you? You probably were just troubling him. “I....I am sorry for being a burden to you, Sir. I ..I should just leave..I...” “You, my dear will stay here” he interrupted you in a tone that was not excepting contradiction. Still you tried to break free, without effect. “Don't you even try. I am not letting you alone in this state. Have you even noticed the state you are in? Your whole body is trembling, your heart is beating waaaaaay too fast and you would not even stand with out me holding you up and now that I told you all that you will probably begin to feel the dizziness and the debility. Yeah, there it is. Careful there.” he simply picked you up holding you bride-style, while you were fighting the exhaustion. You were awfully tired. Tired of everything. Your eyes were getting heavier, but you knew you needed to stay awake. He could do terrible things to you, but somehow you just felt save. Suddenly you heart him chuckle: “Stop fighting it, dear you are save, calm down. I promise I will not hurt you.” Who..who are you...” “the Doctor” “Doctor..Doctor who?” “Just the doctor” he sat down at a bank with you and you notice his fingers on the sides of your forehead. “What..what are you..” “shh.. everything is alright. You just wandered of in a bit dangerous place right now, were some pretty messed up wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff is happening and you are in no state you could handle that right now, so just go to sleep. I promise I bring you back home, oh and sorry about that.” you wanted to ask about what but you began to feel strange, like something with your head was not quiet right, like someone was..”Shs do not worry about it, you are perfectly save with me (y/n). I just had to find out if you saw anything dangerous for you..” what did he mean ..find out what I saw...how should he....how would he...” shs..sleep now, doctors order” and with that there was noway out anymore. You had no power over your body you just fell asleep. When you woke up again you were in your room under your covers and your old teddy you had since you were really little was in your arms. Had it all been a dream? But wait why was your bear there. That was not possible. You had the bear since you were really small, it always made you feel save. Your parents had told you that you just had found it somewhere, talking about an angle in a suit who was a policeman out of space. They just thought it was once again one of your fantasy world stories you had made up and you just had found it somewhere. You yourself were too small to really remember it. The strange thing was, one day when you were older your father was angry at you, saying this bear you loved so much was making you a weakling and took it away from you. That was years ago so how did it end up in your arms...could it be? But how should the strange man know or even have it..how did he knew your name, your home and especially your bear. He had been nice to you, really nice. His warm brown eyes had been looking so caring at you, so gentle. You remembered he looked handsome with his messy hair and brown suit. Somehow he reminded you of someone, someone important to you, but you just could not figure it out. Some days went by and you still had no idea who the man was, yet you were thankful to him. It had been a long time, since anyone had made you really save and okay and he somehow seemed to had brought your teddy back. Yes, you were a grown up, but you really loved that bear. The exact per that was now hidden under your jacket while you were snicking out of the house. There had been a terrible fight again, your parents had shouted things at you no child should ever hear their parents say, but for you the damage was done. Silent tears were rolling down your cheeks. You knew by now they would not stop falling anytime soon. You just needed to get out. You knew you could not just leave in one night and never comeback, but you needed to get out of there for at least a few hours. You were not caring it was night. You closed the door behind you and turned around just to stare at the man in the brown suit leaning at the wall of the house opposite to you. He looked directly at you, his eyes full of concern, than he gave a warm knowing smile to you and hold out his hand for you to take. “I guess, another bad day again?” you look at him confused. Why was he here and how did he know? Than you heard your parents beginning to scream at each other again, inside the house and you jumped slightly. Well, that explains how he knows, you thought, while new tears were finding their way down your cheeks. You felt so weak for crying in front of a stranger, but as exactly this stranger came over to you, took your had and pulled you along you went with him without protest. He brought you into a park near by and sat down with you on a bench. He did not say a word he only kept holding your hand and stroke small circles with his on it. This small gesture somehow really calmed you. Also you were thankful he did not ask questions. Suddenly it began to rain strongly and you were sure he would say something, stand up and start to leave, but he did not react at all. Even after minutes when you both were soaked he just kept holding your hand That was until you began to tremble from not only from the sobs but also from the could. He gently squeezed your hand and as you did the same he turned to you. His eyes were so warm, so caring it took your breath for a moment. Than he smiled again warmly at you. His smile was like he was saying, it will be alright without saying a single word. Then he pulled you closer, letting you time to react, break free if you wanted and as you did not he hugged you. At frist you flinched but then you accepted it thankfully and hugged him back, making him hug you even tighter. He was warm, really warm. Your head on his shoulder you continued to cry in the rain, while he rubbed your back. “You know, (y/n) we need to get you inside you will get sick. See even your bear under your jacket is all wet, and you promised me to always take good care of that, my dear. You looked up shocked. He was the one who gave it to you?! But that was years ago and you told your parents about a man, yet he still looked like a quite young man..also what was he your mind was so full of questions, you were not able to form a single word. While he looked at you with patience, giving you the time you needed. That was until you realized how close you were to the handsome man with the brown eyes and messy hair and blushed deeply. You knew he noticed, because you heart him chuckle and mutter under bis breath:” well, I still got it” then he smiled at you warmly and stroke your tears away with one of his hands, the other was still laying on your shoulder. “ I think you are not too found about going home for tonight, if you want you can stay at my place, do not worry you will be perfectly save around me, you always were for a fact. Maybe you should send your parents a message you are staying with friends, we do not want them to worry, do we?” he spoke, then raised an eyebrow waiting for your answer. Should you go with him. It was so strange, how could he know about the bear and its story, why do you feel so save around him. On the other hand, if he meant bad for you he had had the best chance yesterday and he did nothing to you, he only helped you out. You nodded and tried to stand up, but your legs were not having that and you would have fallen, if had not caught you. “S-sorry” he stuttered. “Nah, do not worry about that and now Allons-y!” He surely was stronger than he looked. He seemed to have no problem to carry you. When you arrived at a policebox standing in the park you had trouble to breath. “Y-yo-you your a-are the..you are the man ..the angle..the policeman ..ou-out of space I told my parents of!” He chuckled “Of course I am, I already told you that (y/n), try to keep up!” he added jokingly and was about to open the door when he seemed to remember something “ You should know that this often overwhelms people a bit. Normally I do not spoil the surprise, but you have already gone trough quite an emotional rollercoaster today, so well it his timelord science dimensions and stuff but basically you could say it is bigger on the inside.” He opend the door and you were buffed. The small box was huge from inside and there were even corridors you could not see an end to. “Welcome to my Tardis Time And Relative Dimension In Space”
He took you in with him and said you were very welcome to stay the night. He sat you down on a chair near the console “ I get you some clothes, better not touch anything. I'll be right back” He came back with a stag of clothes. “They might be a bit big for you, but they will keep you warm.” What you did not know, he would have had no problems in getting you fitting clothes the Tardis could provide that easily, he just thought you would feel a bit calmer and saver in bigger and comfy clothes, especially in this since you really loved it that day you met him when you were still so young to wear his coat. “Thank-y-you” “I get, so you change” he said with a warm smile and went out of the room. He came back after a few minutes when you were fully changed and had two cups of warm chocolate with him. “ Here, I know you like warm chocolate and you especially loved this one when you were younger.” You took one cup from him while he leaned against the console “Than-you doctor” He smiled as you used his name. “Say, why is it so hard for me to remember you..I know I was young but I do remember other things from that time quiet clearly?” You finally managed to build up the courage to ask: “ Well, that is actually my fault. I figured your parents would think of it as insane so I let you forget some parts, making sure it would sound more to them like a made up story from a child, like something real, yet I could not bring myself to erase it completely because I figured it would help you handle the things you went trough. That is also the reason I got you the bear. I am sorry if I had knew sooner he took it from you, you would have had it back year ago. I must have lost track again. Also I am so so sorry I could not do more for you at that time. You were still so small and my life can get so dangerous I figured it was no place to grow up for a child. Also I know you still love your parents and that is okay and completely fine, but that is not why I am here today and was when we met last time. You know I promised something to you when you were still quite small. I promised to show you the stars when you are a bit older and I think a university student is quite old enough, what do you say? Want to visit the stars?”
From that day on you traveled with the doctor and he helped you to deal with the pain and to feel good about yourself again. You went home from time to time because you said you wanted to continue to study, the doctor was quiet okay with that, he liked how much you loved to learn. He knew he could have taught you the things of university but he also wanted you to learn to make friends and stand up for yourself and he found university was a good and save practice place for you. The thing he did not like was the crying and the hurt look in your eyes, when you came back to the Tardis. Your parents were still getting the worst from you and it took its tool on you. One day he finally had enough. You opened the door of the Tardis tears in your eyes. You long time ago gave up in trying to hide them from him, it never worked and really there was no need. “Oh, dear” He sighed and took you in his arms. Resting his head on your he gently began to soothe you. After you stopped crying he took your hand and pulled you with him. “where are we going?” you asked “Your house, I have to have a talk with your parents. Stupid adults never realizing how hurt their children are. They should no, every parent knows what it means when children cry silently.” he spoke seriously. You stopped “Doc-tor... I do not want to...I am scared...” he turned to you “Do not be, I protect you. I promised you to watch over you, did I not my brilliant, wonderful companion. Do not worry (y/n) you are in save hands.” He had been looking directly in your eyes then he bent down a bit and kissed your forehead. “After this we can go and watch your galaxy and your neighbor galaxy, with some hot chocolate, what do you say?”
“Doctor?” you asked while leaning your head on his shoulder looking down at the beauty of lights before you “Mhm?” he put his arm around you and smiled already knowing what you were going to say. “Thank-you”.

You knew you were doomed the moment you found yourself listening to his long-winded spiel about things you couldn’t begin to understand. In spite of this, you sat there, never interrupting, just nodding when he paused for a breath, checking if you were still listening. Of course you were you'd always pay attention to him.
Despite the fact that he had no idea, everything he did made you want him more. His obliviousness to your feelings was both annoying and a relief. You could only imagine the horror if The Doctor ever found out about your feelings. Everything would change between you too. The Doctor doesn't do romance. He might flirt but it's all harmless. You know that.
You know that nothing would ever happen between you and The Doctor. That didn’t make it any easier to try and get over him. Especially when you spent all of your time with him. Your whole life revolves around him, and when you're trying to get over someone that's not a good thing.
You just wanted to get over your crush, so you could continue to travel with him without your heart getting in the way. So you decided the best way to do that was to get with someone new. That someone ended up being a guy named Daniel. The two of you have been texting for a few weeks.
You're only now getting around to actually meeting him. Having convinced The Doctor to take a small break. He had no idea you planned on going on a date. He only realized that was your plan when you came walking out wearing a stunning black dress. Both his hearts stopped functioning for a moment. You looked absolutely ravishing, he let his eyes wander for only a moment before turning back to the console.
In his mind, the Doctor can recall the exact moment when he realized he was in love with you. The two of you were returning back to the Tardis after a dangerous adventure. Both you and The Doctor had a few cuts and bruises. Nothing life-threatening but you were still fussing about them.
He can still remember how focused you were when you changed his bandages. It was as if you were performing surgery and not cleaning a superficial wound. In that moment though when you were lecturing him about being safe, he realized just how much he needed you. How much he loves you.
His world stopped when he realized that fact. Things he once thought of as an impossibility were suddenly becoming possible. He never saw himself as settling down, planning to travel forever. If you asked him though, he would commit fully to the life. He’d get a nine-to-five, working to save up for a house with a picket fence. He would do anything and everything to make you happy. Maybe the two of you would have kids. That was a dangerous thought, one that made his hearts race.
That was all a silly dream though, completely hypothetical. He would never tell you his feelings, you deserved better than him. So he’ll just admire you from afar.
Right now though having seen you in that dress he wants to do much more than admire you. “Where are you headed dressed like that?” He tries his best to seem casual as he asks but he's nervous. Nervous you're going to say a date, which is really the most likely answer.
“I’m going on a date”, a date with a man that isn’t him. This is what he wants; he consoles himself, but it does nothing to make him feel better.
“Oh”
Oh, what is that supposed to mean? He turns away before you can decipher the look on his face. Secretly you were hoping to get some sort of reaction out of The Doctor. Nothing huge, maybe just a blush, something to show you that he at least thought you were attractive.
“I’ll be back later, so don’t wait up” Your steps are slow as you make your way to the door. Repeating affirmations that the perfect remedy for getting over The Doctor is a night out with a handsome guy.
The Doctor watched you leave his knuckles turning white from how tight his grip was on the console. He stayed like that for a few minutes staring longingly at the door. He wants you to have a good time just not with anyone that isn’t him. He hated himself for thinking that but the more he stood alone in the tardis the more thoughts like that plagued him. Until he can't think rationally anymore, grabbing his phone and dialing your number.
It’s been ten minutes. You and Daniel are just about to sit down when you get the call. The Doctor never calls, he barely uses a phone unless it’s an emergency. You give your date an apologetic look telling him you’ll just be a moment.
“Is something the matter?”
“No… I nevermind” he quickly hangs up the phone leaving you even more perplexed. You redialed his number only for it to go straight to voicemail. You tried to text him only to be left on unseen. Why isn’t he answering? You begin to panic knowing The Doctor there's no telling what could be the matter. You say a quick goodbye to Daniel before running to the tardis.
You're out of breath and your feet ache when you reach the Tardis. The sigh of relief you let out when you saw the Tardis is still there. You quickly open the door only to be greeted by The Doctor fiddling with the console. His head popped up at the sound of the door opening. “This is a surprise. What are you doing back so early?” he gave you a goofy smile, one you might admire if you hadn’t run all the way here.
“I’m back because I thought something had happened to you. Do you not know how to answer a phone?"
“Oh that's what that ringing was I thought there was something wrong with the tardis”, he knew it was his phone he just couldn’t bring himself to answer it. Having no excuse for his random call. Though knowing his lack of response got you this worried made both his hearts skip a beat.
“Are you kidding me? I left my date just because you can’t distinguish the sound of a cell phone ringing and the tardis?!?”
“I’m sorry, I’ll know better next time."
“Good, I’ll see you later” you give a glare. “Don’t call” the Doctors eyes widen as you open the Tardis doors. He thought this meant you’d cancel the date.
“You're still going?” He tries not to sound as desperate as he feels.
“Yes luckily Daniel hasn’t been scared off by me abruptly leaving”
“Are you sure? I mean you're already back here and you know we could just go on an adventure” he was already fiddling with the console but you're quick to stop him. Grabbing his arm and pulling him away.
“We can go on an adventure some other time” he gives you a pitiful nod a pout resting on his beautiful face. “I’ll see you later Doctor” he watches you walk out eyes drifting over your figure. A feeling of dread overtook him. He felt like he was losing you. What if your date with Daniel goes well and you decide to stop traveling with him? The thought has him running after you. He catches up to you quickly both his hearts aching. “Doctor this better be important."
“It is” you give him a look to continue telling him Daniel is waiting for you. He takes a deep breath; he can’t believe he's about to say this. “Darling, don’t go on that date."
You rolled your eyes. You wanted a reaction out of him but you were finding this annoying. All you wanted was to sit down, eat some nice food and have a nice conversation with a cute guy.
“Just listen, I like you” your eyes widen, you think you must have heard him wrong. There's no way the Doctor said he likes you too; he must mean in a friendly way.
“I like you too”
“No, I mean I like like you, in a kissing type of way” his explanation has you giggling.
“You like like me in a kissing way” you reiterate with a smile blooming on your face.
“Yes” your heart is about to explode. You’ve only dreamed of something like this happening. You're immediately pulling him by his jacket pressing your lips against his. It's everything you thought it was going to be.
You pull away softly panting, “I like like you in a kissing way too” he laughs pulling you back into him.
You texted Daniel apologizing for cancelling on him and informing him of your new relationship.

------------------------------------------------------------
For some reason, The Master allowed you to roam the halls of The Valient unaccompanied, maybe with the supervision of a guard or two, but usually, you could just go your merry way around the ship. However, you rarely ever did this. You never wanted to see what was occurring on the Earth down below, you didn’t want to see the Toclafane unleash a flurry of lasers onto Humanity, and you didn’t want to see what The Master had done to any of your friends.
You were a coward. Or, at least, you thought that. Martha was Gods-know-where, her family were being used, and everyone aboard was being tortured and degraded, except for you. And you couldn’t do anything to stop The Master because you were so crippled with fear.
The past couple of days you have been staying in your room all instead of roaming The Valiant on occasion. You assumed that no one would notice your absence. Unbeknownst to you, though, The Master was causing hell to everyone around him whenever he didn’t see you. He constantly tried to escape the day’s plans, but apparently destroying the planet Earth and scouring it for a “fugitive” was difficult and time-consuming work. But eventually, the day was mostly over, and The Master was free to spend some time with you, just in time for dinner.
The Master made his way past random Valiant guards and security toward your room. He thought about what he would order for dinner in order to impress you, which he desperately wanted to do. He had absolutely no idea about how you were feeling or why you were absent today. But if he had been aware, he would’ve spent the entire day trying to cheer you up and make you feel special.
A gentle knock on your door startled you away from your anxious mind. You thought that you might just ignore it, as it was probably just a guard. But then there was another set of knocking, and you noticed the rhythm. Was it like that before? You couldn’t tell. And again: knock knock knock knock. You rushed to the door, worried that you had waited too long and now The Master would be upset with you. You had never seen him upset with you, but he always seemed upset when he was with someone else. He would probably be upset with you at some point, so why not now.
You opened the door tentatively.
“Ah! Y/n, it’s lovely to finally see you.” The Master smiled at you, but his eyes looked clouded with latent rage. You cursed yourself. You should have gone out of your room today to see him.
“I missed you today.” The Master up again when you didn’t respond.
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologise. We all have reclusive days. I just hope that I haven’t done anything wrong to worsen your mood.” The Master entered your room without asking you and instantly began looking around. He actually wasn’t trying to be intrusive, he just wanted to get to know you better. And maybe if he knew you better, then he would know the best way to get you to love him.
“No, no of course you haven’t done anything wrong.”
“You don’t have to lie to me, Y/n.” The Master suddenly stopped looking through the bookshelf he had gifted you, trying to see which books you have read, and he turned to face you.
“I don’t know what -”
“I know that my presence here hasn’t been the most comforting. I have destroyed your planet and terrorized your people and I have, frankly, been a right menace aboard The Valiant, especially when there are some political manoeuvres that I have to plan. All I am saying is that I would completely understand why you would hate me, Y/n.” It almost looked as if The Master’s eyes softened as he spoke, but you assumed that it was a trick of the light.
You didn’t know how to respond. You wanted to say something brave, something calling out The Master’s horrible behaviour, but nothing formed because your anxiety seemed to be controlling everything at the moment. You were too scared that this was all a trap and that The Master would kill you after you revealed your true feelings. But then a rolling thunder sounded around The Valiant.
“What was that?”
“Oh, just the evening patrol.” The Master nonchalantly responded.
You felt your chest tighten. You immediately thought of Martha. What if this was the moment she was caught and killed? You could have done so much during your time aboard this ship, yet you did nothing.
The Master was saying something, but you couldn’t hear him over the thumping of your heartbeat in your ears. Your breath began to quicken and heave. You suddenly felt incredibly dizzy, and the room looked like it was spinning. You tried to move to a nearby chair, but you missed the seat and stumbled onto the ground. You heard The Master calling your name, but you were unable to respond; you were far too focused on the anxiety attack you were having and the horrible thoughts circling around your mind.
“Hey. No. Don’t do that. Everything is going to be fine, sweetheart.” You shook your head ‘no’. Things did not feel fine. The Master joined you on the floor and stroked your arms and face soothingly. He hated seeing you like this. Is this how you acted when he wasn’t around? Did he cause you to be in this much pain? The Master never wanted you to hide anything from him, even your bad thoughts. The Master just wanted to comfort you and know the real you.
“Look into my eyes. Everything will be calmer in a moment.” The Master held your face softly in his hands and brushed his thumbs across your temples. You met the commanding alien's gaze tentatively. His eyes were beautiful; they were a warm brown with green specks and waves rolling through his irises. You never noticed that before.
A calm rushed over you. You were no longer plagued by the thoughts of Martha dying or that you were not being brave enough or that you were not being a good companion to The Doctor. You were so calm and relaxed in fact that you felt your body grow limper. You fell into The Master’s chest. He brought two of his fingers to your chin and gently moved your face to look at him.
“Now, tell your Master what’s wrong, sweetheart.”
Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because it’s already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.

"If there is a light then I am going to swallow it. If there is a god then i'm going to make him cry."
