Dreams of Gaia Tarot/Oracle
Just received my Dreams of Gaia Tarot deck from Amazon, and I must say that these cards are less a conventional Tarot deck and more of a very introspective and comprehensive Oracle deck. Which sits fine with me because, as I read through the it's very comprehensive book, I find that this deck has a lot of deep introspective questions, answers, and lessons aimed towards growth, self-development, ethics, and healing. I haven't tried doing a reading with it yet, but I can't wait to try it out.

End of day reading and reflection

I didn't experience a massive upheaval this day, more like a situation where I had to be very adaptable as I accompanied mom and helped her with the tasks involving the bank and finances. The Queen of Swords advice of focusing your attention and having unbiased opinions and reactions felt like it mattered a lot as I worked with mom and dealt with bank personnel. My mother can be embarrassingly verbose, but nowadays, I just let her talk without me feeling embarrassed and reactionary. She's in her senior years, and I think that people who encounter her know well enough how to respond and deal with someone like her. So yeah, having a clear mind and being unbiased and objective with the bank personnel and my mom served me well today.
The heirophant was the card beneath, and with the arrival of my Dreams of Gaia Tarot/oracle today, I feel like that card applied to me reading, studying, and practicing with the Dreams of Gaia Tarot. That deck really does have a very introspective vibe aimed towards self-improvement, self-development, and spiritual growth, that I feel the Heirophant card pointed out to. It's also a passage of knowledge and traditions (a more new age traditions rather than conventional religion) that Heirophant definitely symbolizes. It's pretty amazing to learn new ways of developing oneself.
My first attempt at doing a personal reading with the Dreams of Gaia went well. I was using the same spread that I use every morning, but instead of asking what I should be aware of in the day ahead, I asked what should I know about how the day went. It's really pretty accurate and enlightening. The emotions card points to how I well I had managed my emotions as I worked with mom. I had maintained self-control and experienced a lot of good emotions as I helped mom. A past version of me would have been reactionary and felt impatient and embarrassed by her.
The card that appeared for advice to move forward here was the Healing card, which I take as advice for some self-care. This deck is very much for healing, and I guess this card was also prompting me to make full use of its self growth and self-development potential.
I was immediately drawn to this card, the 7 of air. I wish the book had a better description of the symbolism used in the cards. This card is about your spiritual dogma and beliefs. This card reminds me of the heirophant, and I think it's no coincidence that this showed up. What is wonderful about this card is that it also asks the question of whether your beliefs make you open or closed minded, and also points to the fact that having no beliefs ( atheism) is also a belief that can make you open or closed. I love this deck.

Themes of self-actualization and independence from the thoughts and impressions of others have been and are predominant today. Beneath that are situations where obligations and duty to others, especially your family and loved ones, have been at the root. So today actually started with me accompanying my mom again for the bank/finances task, so there's that obvious 3 of pentacles cooperation and working theme. We did accomplish the task, so now it's just a matter of submitting the last 2 requirements so that we don't encounter any future issues with the bank. There's a good deal of accomplishment, and I felt satisfied that I've been able to do this for my mom, and also glad that she's not pursuing the obvious dead end option with the other bank. So wish fulfilled and I was able to do a lot of productive things around the house as well. The five of wands advice about being competitive as I had to work with a lot of red tape was apt.
I had a bit of free time later in the afternoon, so I did a personal reading with the Dreams of Gaia Tarot. The ten of air cards message of self-actualization, having independence, and being free from what others think applies to my interactions with my mom. My mom is one of those tiger/dragon lady people, and she's also in her senior years, so she can be kind of difficult to work with. It's like I have learned to not be affected by whatever sudden callous thing that comes out of her during the times I have to help her and accompany her. This is where I appreciate the cards highlighting independence and being unaffected by the actions and impressions of others.
The six of Earth is about obligations, duty, and service, which is quite apt for today's errands. Obligations to my family and being of service.
The card that came out for advice was the queen of water, which I find quite apt as well to marry the dilemmas and friction between circumstances of independence of the ten of air and the obligation and servitude of the six of Earth.
I like this deck. I think I am going to add this to my routine. Astromatrix tarot in the morning, to get an idea of the day ahead, then Dreams of Gaia tarot/oracle in the afternoon or evening, to unwind and see areas I should be grateful for or improve upon.
