summary: the barista at the coffee shop has you in a grip. even though you hate coffee.
genre: fluff
w.c: 1.3k
a/n: this is my first time writing in a looonnngg time so sorry if its not that good! lmk if you want a part two <333
Coffee was disgusting. The bitter-tasting bean couldn't be covered up with even copious amounts of milk and sugar. You hated the way it hit your tongue, spreading over every single taste bud and lingering there. Your face pinched with every single splash of liquid. Dina rolled her eyes every time but you couldn't help it.
There were only two things that made you come back to the coffee shop day after day. The way it smelled was one of the two reasons. Even as a proclaimed coffee hater, you could admit the smell of the roasting beans was good.
The only other reason was the barista that was behind the counter. From the first day, Dina dragged you to this shop, your eyes were locked on the barista. She was in your opinion the most beautiful girl you have ever seen. The way her hair fell over her face as she ground the coffee beans and steamed the milk was like a piece of art to you.
You wondered if this was a normal thing to do. To put yourself through what you considered mental torture just so you could glance at the barista every couple of minutes.
Dina knocked your leg under the table once again. You grabbed your cup to stop it from spilling, "Dude, you're staring. Again." You finally peel your eyes away from the auburn-haired barista to look at your friend.
"Is it obvious?" You whisper and she rolls her eyes. Her expression is going to get stuck like that one day.
She puts her pen down, stopping her studying to look at you with a pinched expression, "You remind me of a man right now. Staring at the poor girl just trying to do her job," You lean back in your chair, nibbling at your bottom lip, "We have come here for the past four days, in a row might I add, so you can stare at her. I have spent over 30 dollars in four days on coffee! Stop being a pussy and ask her for her number!" She stares at you, waiting for your reply.
You shake your head. What kind of person does she take you for? Surely she knows you well enough to know that asking someone out is one of the things you would rather die than do. Dina groans at your reaction, rubbing her fingers on her temples to soothe the oncoming headache.
"I, like," You start to explain your side to your friend who has her head rolled back with an exasperated expression pulled on her features, "What if she doesn't like girls?"
Dina suddenly cackles loudly at that, "She has a fucking forearm tattoo!" She noisily replied. The coffee shop patrons turn to look at your table. Dina just smiles at them.
You could crawl up and die.
You peer over your shoulder to see the barista looking at you two with an amused expression. When she catches your eyes she chuckles and goes back to steaming the cup of milk in front of her.
Dina doesn't look the slightest bit remorseful. She even looks a bit proud of herself, "Well, at least she knows we are talking about her now."
"I'm literally going to end your life."
---
You should've ended Dina's life when you threatened it a couple days ago. It could've saved you from facing the same coffee shop alone.
About 15 minutes ago you received a text message from your friend, one that you wish you didn't read until it was too late.
FROM. DI <3 bought some coffee to-go but im studying sooooo hard rn… pick it up for me?
TO. DI <3 no
FROM. DI <3 please :( please :( please:(
please :(
Please.
PLEASEEEEE
TO. DI <3 if i go get it will u shut tf up?
FROM. DI <3 THANK U!!! btw it's under ur name so hot barista knows who u are hehe MWAH!!
You stood in front of the pickup area, fidgeting with your bracelet as you waited for the barista to make an appearance. You check your phone again to see it's been around 4 minutes since you arrived. There weren't any drinks on the mat so you could just grab and go, with no interaction at all. Sadly not. You began to wonder if the barista had decided to quit mid-shift as the minutes continuously went by with no view of her.
You turn around to look at the store hours on a sign sitting out front when the wooden floors creak behind you, "Oh?" You hear a voice.
You turn back around. It was her. Your heart felt like it was about to fall out at the sight of her. She had her auburn hair up in a half-bun and her t-shirt had rolled-up sleeves, showing off her sleek muscles. If you didn't know any better you would've thought you were having a heart attack from how your chest feels.
She looked at you with confusion plastered over her features, "Can I help you?" Her voice was the perfect mix of gravelly and deep. It was perfect. She was perfect in your eyes.
"Um," You scratch your arm nervously, "My friend said she put a to-go order in under my name."
Her laugh catches you off-guard. Your eyes shift around the small shop as you wait for her to explain her sudden onslaught of giggles. Tears prick the side of her eyes as she continues to laugh.
"Uh…" She calms down slightly, holding her stomach, "We don't do to-go orders. Your friend definitely lied to you about that but I can just take your order if you want me to?"
You really should kill Dina when the chance arises. Tonight does seem like a perfect night to become a murderer.
You snap out of your thoughts. Deciding to be a normal person, you reply with a smile, "Yeah… that works too," She motions you to come over to the register, "Can I just get a-"
She cuts you off, "Iced latte for you and an Americano for your friend?" She looks at your surprised face with a bashful smile, "I may not take the orders but I do make them and well… you and your friend have ordered the same thing the past four times. Now five."
You let out a small laugh, "We are both creatures of habit."
She nods, "Me as well," She licks her bottom lip, leaning on the counter, "What's the name of the order?"
She smiles as she gets your name, writing it down on the cups, "You have a pretty name. It will only take me a couple minutes to make these so you can sit if you want to."
You nod as she turns her back to you but you can't help but feel ecstatic at her calling your name pretty. Was this flirting? Or was this just normal conversation? God, this sort of stuff flew right over your head. The last time anyone said anything about you was pretty was when you first met Dina around four months ago. She said your hair was pretty as she sat down next to you in class. But this felt different. Maybe it's because of how undeniably you were attracted to this barista. It made your head spin as you went over the interaction a million different times.
Her calling your name out is the only thing that snaps you out of overthinking.
"Here you go," She hands you the drinks with a smile, "Hope they are good."
You take them, "They always are," She rubs the back of her neck at your words, "Thank you! See you later?"
Was that weird to say?
"Yeah, see you later."
Maybe not.
As you make your way out of the shop, you look down at your iced latte to take a sip when you notice black sharpie on the top.
In awful chicken scratch handwriting was the message of your dreams.
Call me? Ellie xx
With her number right beside her name.
Maybe Dina's shenanigans weren't always bad. She gets spared another day.
next part
dealer!ellie headcanons

a/n: because, like the rest of tumblr rn, i am obsessed with this concept! my asks are open as well so you can send requests <33
not proofread sorry!
she was known around campus as the dealer
if you weren't going to ellie, you weren't getting the good shit and you were most likely getting ripped off
she was mostly seen around at the frat parties even though she looked miserable the whole time but that's where she got the most business at
most of her clients were the frat boy, which she really hated, but the money made her power through
if you weren't the frat party type, though, you could easily find her number from literally anyone on campus and just schedule a meet-up
that's what you were doing right now
you didn't smoke too often but it was exam season and your calculus final was about to kick your ass
you needed to take the edge off somehow
dina gave you her phone number and you promptly texted her
it was a chilly november day, the leaves were falling all around you as you bounded up the stairs to a house
it was a cute brick house, one of the ones just outside of the campus but close enough that you knew college kids were staying there
you knock on the door and then clutch your arms to keep yourself somewhat warm
"coming!" you hear a voice on the other side and loud pounding
you assumed she was running to the door
the thought made you laugh a little bit to yourself
the door flew open and the smile dropped off your face as fast as it came on
you had never seen ellie, only heard of her around campus, and this was somehow not what you were expecting at all
her hair barely brushed her shoulder, a gray hoodie pulled over her torso with the string lopsided
her face was slightly red as she looked at you
even though the cold wind was whipping at your face, you were suddenly warming up
you decide to start the conversation so it's not silent anymore, "um.. are you ellie?"
she leans against the doorframe, "yes, i am. are you here to buy?"
you nod, fingering nervously playing with themselves, "uh, yeah, I am."
she smiles at your awkwardness, "come on in, sweet girl."
ellie x bimbo!reader ?? (modern au!)

a/n: love this! i'm going to do it in headcanon format but if you want it in actual like... story form just lmk!! this request is so fun hehe thank you for requesting!!!
there is a tiny amount of smut at the end as well!
when ellie first met you, she really didn't see it going anywhere
you guys were just classmates, hell she barely knew your name
you were paired up with her along with 3 other people for your big final project in astronomy class. a class you were not good at all
thankfully ellie was good and actually enjoyed it
the other 3 people rarely showed up and just kinda put feedback in the group chat you guys had, which annoyed ellie to no end, but that meant the two of you were around each other a good chunk of the day for weeks on end to pick up the slack
she may be a little more on the masc side but she didn't usually go for hyper-femme girls
usually
she thought you were endearing with your questions and accessories bouncing everywhere
ellie always liked how you smelled too, cotton candy and strawberries, but she would never admit that
the tipping point for her was at a party
you looked at her with these puppy-dog eyes
she swears she's never felt her heart actually stutter before
that's when you had her hooked on you
dating ellie was genuinely the best thing that could've happened to you
usually, people dated you but disrespected you the whole time because of your bubbly attitude and the way you would constantly ask questions
not ellie though
she actually treated you like a human
you loved how she would always open the doors for you and guided you through crowds with her hand on your lower back
if you guys went to a fast food place and you didn't order anything, she never complained when you ended up taking half of her fries
you had ellie wrapped around your finger
little did she know she always had you wrapped around hers
if she told you to jump off a cliff, you would, that's how much she affected you
her nicknames for you always sent you into overdrive
"sweet girl" and "pretty girl" were the two main ones she used
but when her fingers were buried deep inside you, her forearm burning from using it, she would call you her "stupid bitch"
"yeah, you like that? stupid slut." her fingers hitting the spot deep inside of you that made you writhe around
when she had her strap on, pounding you from behind, she would always pull you against her chest and shove two fingers in your mouth
"keep quiet, baby," her breath tickled your neck, "wouldn't want the whole dorm to hear you."
in general, ellie was head over heels for you
it happened so quickly for her but she was infatuated so she really didn't care that much
you were just glad she accepted your bimbo ways <3
good girl reader x bad girl dealer ellie? I feel like it would be rlly cute

a/n: love this so much! i agree it would be really cute omfg thank you so much for requesting! i will keep my requests open until probably friday or so so request if you want to <33
all ellie knew since she got into college was to deal. she had one singular retail job, quit in the middle of her shift, and never went back
through the years it has hardened her exterior a little bit
having to deal with gruff men who would sometimes try to get handsy called for her to toughen up
it wasn't uncommon for her to have to yell and swing on some of the men that try to buy from her
some men see her skinny frame and don't think she has muscles
she's shown them
her least favorite place to deal was hands down parties
she got a lot of clients during the party, college kids wanting to smoke away their stress but she hated the way they tripped over themselves
they would rarely buy anything more expensive than 30 dollars so she wasn't turning a huge profit but it was better than nothing
if she had to deal with another frat boy trying to get weed free by "seducing" her she was going to throw up
she was leaning up against the counter in the kitchen, red cup filled with some sort of concoction when her eyes met yours
you were already looking
how could you not look at the mysterious dealer who barely even talked to their customers
she always fascinated you as you have seen her a couple times around campus
you were too shy to say anything though because of her gruff appearance
there was no point either since you didn't smoke
her eyebrows quirked up when she took in your features
"you're pretty." she mouthed from across the way
your cheeks flushed
you shook your head, "you're prettier." you mouthed back
she laughed and you wished you were closer so you could hear it
you bet it was a beautiful sound
after a brief battle with your anxieties you decided to go closer
when you got next to her she leaned down a bit, "you buying?"
you look up at her, "i don't smoke!" you hollered over the music
she patted your shoulder, "don't start!" she yelled back
that's how it started between the two of you
ever since that moment if you passed each other on the street, walking to your respective classes, you would wave or smile at each other
ellie thought the way you carried yourself was so endearing
the backpack sitting high on your back, clothes that covered every part of you, and hair always sitting perfectly
when she passed you she could always catch a faint hint of strawberries and something like sugar or cookies
it made her smile everytime
but you loved the way ellie looked even more
disheveled, hair sticking every which way, and backpack hanging open leaving a trail of papers behind her
eyes always a kind of hazy red
it was very attractive to someone who has been around only uptight people her whole life
the first time you saw her yell at someone it made your attractive toward her grow even further
it was another party and as soon as you spotted her, you walked up
"you sell?" she turned around while nodding her head until she realized it was you
she pushed your shoulder, "not to you!" the music bumped in your ears loudly as the two of you shared a laugh
you were right, it was a gorgeous sound
thank god you were close enough to sort of hear it this time
she pointed at your drink, "what's that?"
you stood on your tiptoes so she could hear you, "water! i don't like drinking!"
she smiled at your response, "good girl! why do you come to these things?"
"to see you!" it was a half-truth, half-lie
she rolled her eyes at the flirty remark but you could see blush creeping up, "yeah right!"
"my roommate-"
you went to tell her the truth when a guy walked up to her, speaking to her in a low voice, shoving a 20 her way
she pulled out a bag and handed it off to him without much of an interaction
the issue is when he caught your eye and smiled creepily
"how much for an hour with you, sweet girl?" he grabbed your arm roughly
you wince at the calloused feeling of his hands on your arm, trying to pull away but his muscles overpowering you
before he could get much farther with you, ellie's tattooed forearm shot into view
"get the fuck off of her!" her voice was loud and rough, lips curled in disgust at the man
he scoffed, "what are you gonna do about it?"
she shoved him harshly, "i'll fucking kill you."
before you could register what was even happening, she was on top of him slamming her fist against his greasy face over and over
a hoard of frat boys broke it up shortly after
you were in the bathroom sitting on the marble counter with her in between your legs
you looked over her arms and face to make sure he didn't catch her in any way
her knuckles were bloodied and she was shaking a little bit from the adrenaline
"you didn't have to do that." you whispered, feeling guilty that she had to do that for you
she smirked, "of course i did."
"i can handle myself. i'm a big girl!" she outwardly laughed at your words
"a big girl, huh?" she leans forward, arms now caging you to the counter, "you don't drink or smoke. always going to class. studying... i bet you can't even lift 5 pounds. i had to make sure you were alright."
you bite your lip, "thank you."
the start was slow but you fell for her harder and harder every day
spoiled bratty reader x dealer ellie??

cw: modern!au, ellie lowkey hating you, you lowkey hating ellie, it works out though lol, anxiety mentions, the reader is a bit of a bitch, no smut or anything but if you want a second part just lmk hehe
a/n: thanks for requesting! sorry this took so long!!!!
whenever ellie williams was around you were intensely annoyed
it wasn't even like she did too much other than go to class and deal on the weekends
but something about her demeanor set you off
she always wore these ripped jeans and a baggy shirt, her hair thrown up without a care in the world
smelling like weed and a hint of... orange? it threw you off every time
you had the dishonor of sitting near her in your intro to poetry class, which you only took to get the final credits you needed to go into your higher levels
you have no idea why she chose to sit next to you that first day
the two of you already had a sort of... spat in your dorm room just days before the first poetry class
your roommate, love her to death but this annoyed you, had a tendency to invite over her friends without notifying you
you didn't plan on seeing a girl sitting on your bed with a joint in her hand
"dina, why is there a random girl sitting on my bed?" your voice was laced with venom as you glared at the girl
the random scoffed, sliding off and handing dina the joint, "sorry, didn't know you would be such a cunt about it. i was just doing a deal."
dina laughed awkwardly at the interaction knowing your personality, "ellie... let's go to the cafeteria!"
"did you just call me a cunt?" you crossed your arms eyes widening at the gall of the girl in front of you
"sure did, baby." she swoops by you throwing her arm around dina and leaving the room
you tried not to let it bother you but it did
your bed smelled like her
how long was she sitting on it?
it had to be a while if her fucking smell lingered
you were so annoyed at this situation
you wished you had ripped into her more when she was still here
but you didn't so now you sit next to her in this stupid class you have zero interest in
ellie had a bad habit of bouncing her leg in the class
it shook the table the two of you sat at making it hard for you to write anything
"can you fucking stop?" you hissed at her under your breath
she rolled her eyes, "what? stop having anxiety?"
you wanted to wring her neck out
"bouncing your leg," your hand shot out and placed it over her thigh, stopping the shaking, "god. you are so annoying."
you somehow missed the blush rising under her freckles
the next time you saw her she was in your room again but this time sat on dina's bed
glad she learned her lesson
when you walked into the hazy room, ellie stuck out a joint, "wanna smoke with us?"
you pinch your face, "no. i don't smoke." your voice is flat without any sort of emotion
ellie laughed at that, "you are such a princess."
god you couldn't stand her
but she couldn't stand you either
something about the way you carried yourself made her want to throw up
so prissy, always sticking your nose up at everything
but that being said she was shocked when your hand settled on her thigh to keep her leg still
it stayed there for the rest of the class
her heart was pounding
mind racing with all sorts of thoughts
you were so spoiled... so rude
ellie decided in that moment she wanted you
she wondered if she was some sort of masochist or something
trying to pursue her friends' snotty roommate
dina told her to go for it, always supportive of her friend, even if it was a shitty idea
ellie started to show up in your room more and more
she began to get you in her spell
like she was practicing witchcraft or something
you hated how you began to laugh at her idiotic jokes
you hated how when you got out of class you rushed home so you could catch her just to say some bitchy remark
she always replied with a quip that had you blushing
but you especially hated how you started to put in effort on the days of your poetry class
makeup, copious amounts of perfume, and a nice outfit
ellie took notice of your sudden shift of behavior as well
one day in class she leaned over to you, whispering so the professor didn't catch on, "you trying to look good for me or do you have a date?"
it was a simple jab but it shook you to your core
she found you out
you whisper back, "uh, i, no.. no date but-"
she pushes you slightly, "just fuckin' with ya." turning her body back to the front fully
maybe you did still hate ellie williams
ahhhh i love your hc of football player!ellie 🥹 can i request one where this time, reader is a quiet/reserved person and although ellie doesn’t have problems socializing (she’s really known around campus!!!) she seems to be horrible at talking to reader lol 🤕 she just wants to impress her so baddd 😭
a/n: this is so cute something about ellie getting awkward around someone she likes 😭😭😭 it's so funny to me i might make a part two to this later as well i kinda didn't know how to end this lol
ellie williams wasn't the person you thought would be having issues. if it was anyone, you have usually struggled to talk to people at the party your friends inevitably dragged you to.
yet, here you were.
sitting next to ellie who stuttered through two half-sentences before shutting up.
all she said was a pitiful, 'what's y-y-your maj-" before sighing and trying again but only got to stutter out, 'how o-old...?"
she now had her eyes closed while her head rested against the back of the couch. your eyes darted around trying to grasp at anything to not make her feel bad. you didn't really know what to do in this situation. people usually carried the conversation, not the other way around.
you lick your lips, "what's your favorite animal?" her head lifts from its original position as she cracks a smile.
"do dinosaurs count?"
you smile back at her giddy demeanor, "of course they do. what's your favorite?"
she sets her beer on the table in front of the couch, turning her whole body to you, "oh man, i could go on for hours. right now though? it has to be a-"
someone randomly shouts out, 'ellie williams!!!' which makes her stop and acknowledge them. they do a bro hug which makes you cringe a bit before they banter for a couple minutes. she was flowing with the conversation, not a single stutter in sight.
it comes so naturally to her right then so why was she so awkward with you? it stumped you.
she's chucking as she sits back down next to you, your previous conversation gone to the wind. she is back to awkwardly rubbing her hands while glancing at you.
after the thirtieth glance in 15 seconds, you look at her. she looks shocked as you lock eyes.
"do i have something on my face? why do you keep looking at me like that?"
a blush appears on her face while she coughs out like your question blind-sided her.
she pats her chest trying to stop coughing before she says, "i stare because you're... ya know, p-pretty." you don't miss the way the tips of her ears turn crimson.
you roll your eyes at her, "how many girls have you said that to tonight?" her face turns serious at your joke.
ellie shakes her head, "only you." the two of your hold eye contact for a moment before you have to break it. she clears her throat as the tension settles heavily.
she gets up, sauntering over to a group of people huddled in the corner. she fits in with them almost immediately, with no awkward sentences or fluttering looks.
for the rest of the night, you have to pretend you don't see her staring at you from across the room. you have to pretend that the idea of someone like ellie williams liking you didn't make you giddy.
but it did.
ellie x bubbly chatty reader? I LOVE UR WRITING BTW SO SO GOOD <3333
an: THANK YOUUUUUU <3333 this is so cute btw

you have a slight suspicion that your chatty behavior is starting to irritate your patrol partner that was assigned to you today
usually, you would go with jesse or dina
but today it was with ellie
of course, you have heard of ellie (who hasn't) but you never really ran into her much outside of an occasional get-together hosted by dina
you had started the patrol trying to get ellie to engage with you
you asked all sorts of questions like "do you have a favorite book?" to which ellie just said a simple 'no'
then it was "well, do you like cats or dogs better?"
she didn't answer
then you asked, "ok, what's your favorite type of music?"
that's when she told you 'you were banned from speaking.'
which was a punishment worse than death to you
but ellie's serious expression when she said it scared you into compliance
the two of you were scanning the inside of a dilapidated house when you finally had to break the silence
it was killing you
"what's your favorite color?" you didn't mean for your voice to project so loud, it just happened
she whipped around with her finger put to her lips and eyebrows furrowed
you scrunch your face in a silent apology before proceeding with a whisper, "sorry... well, what is it?"
ellie looks a bit taken aback by you
but you wait for her answer
when it doesn't come like all the others you shrug, "mines pink and orange, i think. i also really like sky blue and like a forest green type, ya know? those colors relax me a lot."
her lips curl up in an expression you can't quite place before she walks out of the house and begins to tye her supplies to her horse
"ellie..." she turns toward you with an exasperated look
"what?" she throws her hands up slightly
your eyebrows shoot up, "ohh, so she talks!"
she rolls her eyes, "of course i talk. i'm not some weirdo."
you snicker at her reaction, "you haven't talked to me or answered any of my questions. why is that?"
she shakes her head slightly, hair pieces falling out of her ponytail, "you are... just. you make me... man, i don't know. let's just go." she gives up on trying to explain
you pucker your lips slightly before agreeing to go, "alright, lead the way."
it's silent for a couple of paces
the wind blowing between the two of you
"it's green and maybe red." you hear her mutter in front of you
"what did you say? i couldn't hear you." it was an honest question
"i said," she speaks up, turning to look at you, "it's green and maybe red." she turns back around, hiding her face from you
you hold back a laugh at her tone
she was so cute to you but you definitely weren't going to let her know
"great choices!" you enthuse
"shut up." you can hear the smile in her harsh words
maybe you would ask to go with ellie more
sitting on my lunch break as a barista rn kicking my feet and giggling at ur ellie coffeeshop au. requesting a oneshot where ellie & reader are coworkers at a coffeeshop/bookstore or whatever and they have a crush on each other !! love ur writing <3
a/n: AHH I LOVE THISS i want to be coworkers with ellie <;/3 and I'm so glad you are liking the coffee shop fic!! it makes me so happy to see you guys enjoying it so much haha
cw: AWKWARD ELLIE, like so awkward i love her, mr. beast mention LMFAOO
wc: 800
you needed to be working. if your manager ever happened to look at the cameras, you would be reprimanded for sure. but, you couldn't help it.
you sat behind the register peering around a bookshelf to look at the coffee shop in a snug corner. the bookstore you worked at wasn't huge but when the local coffee shop proposed opening a small area in your store, your manager happily agreed.
it was small enough to only need 1-2 workers a day. today just happened to have 1 person working.
ellie.
a smile crept on your lips as you thought of her name. she was the main barista at the small coffee shop, maybe even the manager? you didn't deal with the shop much but all you knew that was when ellie worked, you couldn't help but stare. she was kind enough to bring you a cup of coffee some days. when you were crazy busy and there were no tasks at the shop she even jumped in to help you with customers.
you would always tell her you were fine but she would wave you off, ringing up customers as if she originally worked at the bookstore.
she snuck into your heart with her small acts of kindness.
you tear your eyes away from her to scan the small store, seeing if any customers were in. to your surprise (and benefit) there wasn't.
it was time.
you hop off the small stool you were seated on and made your way over to ellie.
"slow day, huh?" you shove your hands in your apron as you approach her.
she laughs, nodding her head, "yes it is! feels like the shift is never gonna end. i don't think i've seen more than 4 people today." her sleeves were rolled up to reveal her forearm tattoo as she washed some spare dishes. that damn forearm tattoo always got you blushing.
you look out the window, "i thought since school was out today some kids would stop by."
ellie clicks her tongue, "kids don't read anymore. they are all about their ipads and... what's, what's that one youtuber called?"
you look back at her and shrug, "i have no clue. i don't keep up, too old." she looks like she's racking her brain to find the answer.
"mr. beast? i think that's who the kids are into. or is it someone else?" ellie was wondering out loud, scrubbing her last cup. you furrow your brows at the name.
you have never even heard of him before.
"i don't know him," ellie hums in acknowledgment, shaking her hands free from the water, "maybe we will get busy soon. only have about 2 hours before we close up."
ellie wipes her hands on a towel before leaning against the counter, eyes locking on yours, "maybe. we don't usually have many customers before we close, though." she looks in between you and the floor like something is bothering her.
"that's true." you finish out the conversation, settling in a sort of awkward silence. her eyes were darting back and forth while her bottom lip was tugged between her teeth, "well, i'll go tidy up my side of the store. bye bye!"
even if you wanted to sit and talk to ellie all day, you couldn't just completely abandon your job. you go to turn around but her saying 'wait!' pauses you in your tracks. you look at her with curious eyes.
"are you, uh, doin' anything tonight?" her hand rubs the back of her neck as she peers at you with a look in her eyes you can't quite place.
this was perfect.
you never thought ellie would be the one to initiate so this was a pleasant surprise. she always seemed sort of reserved so you figured you would have to be the one to shoot your shot.
you clasp your hands in front of you, a smile forming, "no, i'm actually free tonight."
ellie lets out a small breath of relief, "wanna go to the arcade? play some mortal kombat? if... if that's what your into, of course. we could definitely play something els-"
"that's perfect, ellie," she smiles at your reassurance, "meet you at the back doors after we get through closing?"
she gives a thumbs up, cringing slightly at her action, "sounds perfect!"
you wanted to tease her for her awkwardness but you couldn't do that to her. not yet at least.
maybe one day.
spoiled! reader x dealer! ellie
part two

a/n: ok i know i said there was gonna be smut but i really couldn't figure out how to segue into it LMFAO so i will make a part three sometime!! sorry i've been so bad recently at keeping promises :(((
wc: 1.3k
part one
"seriously, dee," you brush through your hair once more before setting the brush down, "i don't know why she's such a bitch. she's been so curt with me recently in our poetry class."
"like how?" she mumbles from behind you.
you furrow your eyebrows as you recall her behavior toward you, "like not talking to me at all — which is weird even for ellie — and not even waiting for me after class! she's also stopped showing up here! i don't understand." it was hurting your feelings.
but being emotionally constipated made you, in turn, ignore her even harder.
dina rolls her eyes at your words, trying to keep a semblance of coolness to her. she had been in the middle of a horrible cold war ever since a week prior.
ellie was mad at you because you 'suddenly turned into a bitch again' and you had started being a little curter when you realized she had to know of your crush on her. when she teased you about trying to look good for her, that's when you knew she knew.
it was so humiliating for her to know that about you. your crush on her was something you wanted to keep semi-secret until you were ready to reveal it but ellie's quick senses caught onto you.
"ellie isn't being a bitch maybe she's upset because you suddenly went back to your old ways after being kind to her for a while." dina crosses her arms at you.
you shake your head, "no way. she's definitely more sens-"
dina groans loudly, cutting you off, "whatever! talk to her about it," she slides off the bed, looking at the time on her phone, "she should be here in like 5 or so minutes. talk it over, i cannot deal anymore." dina walks out of your shared dorm leaving you in a suffocating silence.
what did she mean she "cannot deal anymore?" were you seriously complaining that much?
it wasn't like you didn't want to talk to ellie. you would want nothing more. even though it was hard to admit, you really missed her stupid jokes or the way she would look when her eyes were all hazy from the weed. you missed the way her and dina would laugh on dina's bed after a smoke session. it was becoming a welcome routine to talk to her after a long day. but, it was so hard to look at her and know she knew you liked her.
maybe it was the overthinker in you but it was too much to handle. something about it was so humiliating.
your thoughts are interrupted by a knocking on the door followed by ellie's muffled, "let me in! it's cold."
your heart thumps against your chest as you stand up and make your way to the door.
you try not to let your heart break when you see the way ellie's face falls when she realizes it's you.
"where's dina?" her voice is flat, monotonous, which was weird to hear. even when the two of you hated each other it never sounded like this.
ellie tried peering over your shoulder to see if her friend was hiding somewhere. when she realizes dina really isn't there she lets out a sigh.
this was almost unbearable.
you kick at the floor, pulling your sleeves over your hands, "she just left a couple minutes ago."
ellie clicks her tongue, looking around before she speaks up, "tell her i stopped by," she turns around, "see ya."
your voice halts her in her tracks, "wait!" ellie turns to look at you with furrowed eyebrows, "can we please talk, maybe?"
ellie scoffs, "about what?"
you nibble on your bottom lip, "about what's happening," your voice falters as you look into her eyes. curse her beautiful eyes, "about us?"
ellie looks as if she is contemplating it for a while, shoving her hands in the pockets of the carhartt jacket she's wearing. the cold air is drafting over your body but you can't help but feel warm under her gaze. her hair whips in the wind, the hair tie she has is not doing much to keep it up. ellie finally nods, looking a bit exasperated at the decision, but she still moves forwards to come inside.
ellie doesn't even hesitate to sit on dina's bed, waiting for you to finally speak up. she's fiddling with her hands and the expression on her face almost makes you want to punch yourself for being so stupid. she looked like a kicked dog.
"i'm sorry," you start off, voice cutting through the cold silence. ellie looks up at you with an expecting gaze, "i freaked out that one day in poetry class when you, when you, god — this is really hard for me. when you asked if i was getting pretty for you or if i had a date."
ellie grips the edge of the bed, "wait? you freaked out because of that? why?"
you shrug, "because you found me out. i wasn't expecting you to catch on so quickly."
ellie cocks her head to the side, "catch on to what?" she gets off of dina's bed so she can stand in front of you, "i'm.... i'm so confused right now." she confesses to you honestly.
well shit. this wasn't how you expected it to turn out. there was no backing out of this. you have to swallow your pride and fear of rejection at this moment.
"you didn't catch on that i like you?" ellie gapes at you when the sentence comes out of your mouth, "that's why i got cold. i freaked out because i thought maybe you were weirded out that i had come to like you even though i was such a bitch befo-"
ellie's hand resting on the side of your face stops your word vomiting from completing. there's a look of happiness so prevalent on ellie's features, one you have never seen before. it puts you at ease.
"you like me?" ellie's voice is barely more than a whisper.
you push against her hand, "i thought i was obvious, ellie."
she bites her lip, a blush raging across her beautifully freckled face, "man, i was just messing with you that day," her eyes blink rapidly as if she's trying to process what you had just told her, "i like you too. since the day i laid my eyes on you."
"well," you start, feeling lighter in the chest now that you have confessed, "i definitely didn't like you at first sight. i actually wanted to kill you for sitting on my bed."
ellie laughs, leaning her head against your shoulder, "oh, i remember. i ranted to dina that whole day. i thought you were so cute but such a bitch."
"i tried so hard to get your smell off my bed." ellie lifts her head from your shoulder, an offended expression cast on her face. she pushes your shoulder.
"i don't even stink!"
you push her back, the playfulness making you grin like a madman, "yeah, right! my bed smelled like weed until i washed it!"
ellie clicks her tongue as she takes your figure into her arms. you relax against her chest thankful that dina left the room so you could finally talk this over with her.
"so does this mean i can sit on your bed now?" you laugh at her little quip.
"i mean," you act apprehensive, "i guess."
she gives you a kiss on the forehead, "sounds amazing."
thinking of ellie as a retail worker...
she would actually hate the job and her life so much. before every shift, she has to sit in her car and pray that people don't try her. every day is one day closer to her snapping at a customer.
something about having to refold and refold and refold walls of jeans makes her want to bash her head into the wall. when she shows her manager and they say, "one more time. they still look messy." she thinks about walking out. (she doesn't) (curse having bills and responsibilities)
she especially hates having to be nice to the old ladies who are nothing short of hateful. ellie hates the way they look her up and down, acting as if she isn't a human. whenever she helps them out as soon as she is out of eyesight, she's rolling her eyes and mumbles to herself how she hates her life.
ellie wouldn't be the best at greeting either she would just give a simple "hey" and that's it. her managers would 100% get onto her DAILY about it saying how she needs to be more enthusiastic.
the worst part about it, no competition at all, is the fact she has to listen to the same 10 songs for her entire 7-hour shift. her head pounds at how loud the music is. she feels sick whenever she hears the opening to "new rules" by dua lipa. her head spins when her manager decides to turn it up more because it apparently "wasn't loud enough."
(this was entirely indulgent i am a retail worker and imagining ellie as one is the only way i keep sane)
Can I please req hcs for Ellie w a Reader who needs a lot of reassurance like always asking “are you mad at me?” Because I am the most sensitive girl in the world I fear 🙁
a/n: so real im also so sensitive it's crazy idk how ive made it this long LMFAO

ellie is kinda rough around the edges there's no changing that
she tries, and i mean really tries, to be softer around you but during high stake times she can kinda snap
not really at you just more at the situation at hand
but being sensitive, you do not take it like that
it takes every fiber in your being to hold back the tears and keep the heavy feeling in your chest at bay
"you could've gotten killed! what would i have done without you, huh?" she rants as she walks out of a random abandoned building
you may have seen a clicker and tried to kill it without making a fuss
you didn't want to burden ellie as she was searching for supplies
but it didn't go down without a fight
thankfully ellie heard your screams from downstairs and ran to handle it
"i tried. i fought really hard," your voice is wobbling as the tears well up, "are you mad at me, els?"
you hear her sigh before she's turning back to look at you
her face softens at the pitiful look that's gracing your features
"no. i'm not mad," she reaches out and pulls you into her arms. you relax at the comforting feeling of her near you, "you scared the hell out of me though. don't know what i'd do without you."
shes rubbing her hands up and down your back in a soothing motion
the pit in your chest feels a bit lighter now that you know she's not angry
"i just wanted to feel like i could do it on my own." your voice is muffled by her shirt
you feel her shake her head, "you will never have to do it on your own, shouldn't have to. i'll always be here so lean on me."
ellie feels like crap every time she makes you sad
she works on it as much as she can
but she is also more than happy to give you the reassurance you need
nothing makes her happier than feeling you relax in her arms

part two
Who even knew video stores were still a thing? You surely didn't think they were — you were almost certain they died out in the late 2000s with the rise of streaming services. Every store around town seemed to be shuttered up. But Ellie, being the cool girl she is, somehow knows of a still operating movie store. You have to admit, putting in a DVD somehow feels cooler than pulling it up on Netflix. There was something about the sound of the DVD player that made you a little giddy. The giddiness was totally not because of the girl standing in front of you.
Totally not.
She raises her eyebrows when the tray slides back into her DVD player, "Super cool, huh? Feels... retro." She lets out a shaky breath while rubbing the back of her neck. She makes her way over to the couch — plopping down, making your body slide closer to her. Her scent fluttered over your nose. She smelled woody and like coffee.
On brand.
You still couldn't believe you were sitting in Ellie's living room. The room smelled similar to her minus the coffee smell. The room wasn't necessarily tidy but it wasn't overly dirty. There wasn't trash everywhere but random trinkets were scattered over the surfaces. There were hoodies thrown over the backs of chairs and a couple of empty water bottles on her coffee table. Lived in is what you would describe it as. There were a couple of picture frames on a mantel above her TV but the room was too dark to make out the figures.
"I haven't watched anything on DVD in like, I don't know, years." You let out a small laugh as the home screen pulls up. It was a movie you have never heard of, but it looked similar to Star Wars. Grand music filled the room before she turned the sound down a bit.
Ellie nods at your words, "I love it," You turn your head to look at her. There was a giddy look in her eyes you have never seen before, "Going to the video store is, like, my number one hobby."
You laugh at the ridiculousness of that statement, "What about making coffee?"
Ellie clicks the 'Play Movie' option and a bright light flashes over her face as the commercials play before the movie. You forgot movies used to have commercials even on the home versions.
She rolls her eyes playfully at your question, "Making coffee is my job. Even though I love it, I definitely don't want to think of it once I'm out of there."
"I get that."
A comfortable silence falls between the two of you. It's hard not to stare at her through your peripheral. All you wanted to do was stare at her. You feel her legs pressed against yours, her legs spread a little more than yours. You take in a deep breath so you don't freak out at the contact.
God, is this middle school?
You shift your eyes slowly over to her figure, just wanting to take a tiny little peek. She was too pretty not to look at. It wasn't weird to look casually, right? When your eyes connect with hers, though, you rip them away while you blink rapidly.
Shit, she was already looking?
A pounding feeling against your chest makes it nearly impossible to focus on the now-playing movie. A spaceship rips through outer space as the main actor barks orders at his crew on the ship. Techno music plays in the background. You had no clue what was happening as a little vermin-looking creature started speaking in a made up language.
Was she still looking? Surely she had to be focusing on the movie she chose. She looked so excited to start it. She definitely wasn't staring at you anymore.
You slowly move your eyes across the room and slightly turn your head to look at her. Your eyes connect with her green eyes once more but instead of looking away, you keep them there. You can feel your face flush under the intense gaze she has you under.
Ellie's eyes widen once she realizes you weren't going to look away. Another flash from the TV illuminates her features. You could tell that she was blushing. Neither of you looked away even as the tension built.
She was so cute.
"I can't," She starts, voice barely more than a whisper, "I can't focus on this."
You smile at her, "I definitely have no clue what is going on," Ellie smiles at your honesty, "Turn it off. We can just talk."
Ellie seems to like your suggestion as she reaches her hand out and presses the off button on the remote. She fully turns toward you. Your knees knock against each other with how close the proximity is.
Ellie rubs her hands together while a breathy laugh escapes her lips, "I guess I'll ask the question that's been burning me the most."
A laugh bubbled out of your throat, "What is this 21 questions?" Ellie joins your laughter at the realization of what she's doing, "Go ahead, I guess. I might have an answer for you."
"What's your major? And... why did you decide to come into my coffee shop that day?"
"Woah, these are... really hard-hitting questions." You sarcastically reply. Ellie pushes your shoulder lightly with a chuckle. She mutters, Shut up' before looking back at you with expectant eyes. There was a glint in her eyes.
You loved the way she looked at you.
"I'm a literature major, boring I know, and the reason I went in is that my friend dragged me there," Ellie acts fake offended at your response, "I actually hate coffee."
Ellie gawks at the last part, "You what?"
You throw up your hands in surrender, "Don't hate me. It is just so nasty to me."
"I feel as if you have just shot me. You always order something," Ellie's hand goes over her heart in a dramatic manner, "But if I'm being honest, I don't really like it either."
You shoot up from your position. Ellie may have been faking shock but this was true for you, "What do you mean? You own the coffee shop!"
Ellie copies your surrender motion, "I know. I know. The only reason I opened the shop, well became a barista in the first place, is because my dad really loves coffee," You can feel your heart melt at the kind words, "Gave us something to bond over."
"That's really cute, Ellie." You look at her with eyes gushing with love. You hoped she couldn't tell how infatuated you were becoming with her.
"I know, I'm adorable," She leans in closer as if she's about to reveal a huge secret to you, "You do realize we have other drinks than coffee, right?"
She laughs at the way your face pales and how your eyes widen, "Oh my god!"
Her laugh was perfect.
It was becoming impossible to ignore your feelings for much longer. Each moment was another reason to fall for her. She was extremely sentimental and super observant, remembering the tiny details. Ellie was the first to notice if you parted your hair a different way or did a new thing with your makeup. It made your heart soar with happiness when she remembered another tiny detail from you.
Throughout the rest of the night, you guys talked about random things on that stupid couch situated against the wall. You talked about her love of space and how she wishes she could see the stars up close at least once. You talked about your worries and fears, things you wanted to do when you grew up, and the things that make you happiest.
You got closer to her with each passing second, knocking knees turned into your legs thrown over hers. That turned into you scooting closer (almost sitting on her lap) and your head leaning against her shoulder.
You weren't sure when you fell asleep. All you knew was it was the most comfortable you felt in a while.
--
Burning light was what woke you up. It definitely wasn't how you wanted to wake up, much preferring the smell of food cooking. Damn those stupid curtains for being pulled back. You furrow your eyebrows at the blinding light, not yet used to the morning sun. Your hand shoots out to feel around where you were. Still on the couch but no Ellie. You blink the bleariness away from your eyes while wondering where Ellie went.
There's slight muttering coming from the kitchen, it's hushed but urgent. There she is but you can't make out what or who she is talking to. You sit up from your laying position, back aching from sleeping on the tiny couch. Your ears strain to hear the conversation.
"Wasn't really expecting... come home... random girl!" That definitely wasn't Ellie's voice. It was too high-pitched and sweet.
"...Quiet... still sleeping... been broken up... had no right." There was the voice you came to know.
Curiosity filled your mind at the quiet talking in the kitchen. She never mentioned a roommate while talking to you last night. You fully push yourself off of the couch and creep your way to the area they were in. Ellie's back was turned from you so you got a glimpse of who she was talking to.
It was a shorter girl with black hair with an angry expression painted on her features. Her eyes landed on you and she scoffed.
Oh shit. She was furious.
"Great," Her voice cut the tense silence, "Now she's walking around as if this is her house."
Ellie whipped around with a look that made your heart stutter. It looked as if she had been caught doing something wrong.
She gave you an apologetic look, "Cat, can you for once..." She cut herself off, reaching out to you, "Hey, listen-"
You decided to cut her off this time while stepping back, "You never told me you had a girlfriend. This changes a lot, Ellie."
Cat scoffs again at your words. Her arms cross over her chest as she mutters, 'Good god, Ellie.' Ellie gives her a pointed look before turning back to you.
"I can fully explain this." Ellie's words are punctuated by the movement of her hands. They were shaking slightly.
'She's just stunned that she was caught,' an evil voice in your head bounced around.
You shake your head, "No need to." You turn on your heels ready to get the hell out of the tense situation. Ellie calls your name but once you are out the front door she doesn't make any moves to run after you.
"Great," You roll your eyes trying to ignore the feeling of your heart shattering, "This is fucking great."
You couldn't wait to talk to Dina.

monster mash

summary: meeting the prettiest girl you have ever seen in a shitty party city costume wasn't what you had in store for your night.
genre: fluff!
wc: 500
a/n: just a silly little thing i thought of haha i kinda want to see ellie in a dracula costume.... also!! i have really been struggling with smut requests recently like i've tried and they are falling really short so if you have requested smut it probably won't happen </33 i'm so so sorry i just don't want to disappoint! i hope you understand <3
the material rubbing against your arms was enough to make you wish you never came out to this party. you were having fun, and halloween parties were always your favorite, but the last-minute nature of your costume made you feel like a poor sport. it wasn't even a funny last-minute costume. it was a cheap pleather costume making you look like a mouse. the poorly drawn whiskers from your already drunk friend were just the icing on the cake.
real sexy.
you set your drink on the counter behind you while crossing your arms over your chest. looking out at all the drunk people dancing while 'monster mash' blared through the speakers for the 90th time was your favorite activity. you spotted your friend dina grinding against jesse. a grimace graced your face, knowing that in the morning you would have to hear all about that. jesse looks at you with an enthusiastic smile, mouthing, 'she's not mad at me anymore!' before he goes back to focusing on dina.
"i need to get drunker to be able to watch that," you mutter to yourself, twisting to grab your drink. your fingers just barely grasp the red cup before a random hand shoots out to your forearm effectively stopping you from picking up said drink.
it was a girl in a vampire costume, fake blood dribbling down her chin while two fake bite marks settled on her neck. you couldn't tell if being that pale was makeup or if that was just her normal face, "i wouldn't drink that." her eyes were wide and urgent looking while she spoke.
your eyebrows furrow at her frantic nature, "what? why not?"
she grabs the drink and throws the remaining liquid down the drain, "dick head over there put a packet of something in it." she nods her head toward a guy who looked the type. he was hunched in the corner of the room, staring you down.
you groan while rolling your eyes, "can't even have fun at a halloween party these days."
the vampire — you decided to call her — leaned against the counter next to you while she hands you a new drink. her eyes were piercing the nasty man who skittered away like a stupid rat.
the music got louder with the new song forcing her to lean closer to you, "men, am i right?"
you laughed at that, nodding your head, "can't do anything! thanks for saving me from that awful fate!"
she shrugs, "i couldn't just let you drink it," one of her friends calls her name, cutting your time with her short. you wish you were able to hear what her friend called her. maybe dina knew her name, "besides... you're a pretty girl. i was gonna come up to you anyway." she saunters off, joining her friend group with a broad grin.
maybe the mouse costume was really sexy after all.
stupid bitch

a/n: this is for the anon who requested something based off of the song stupid bitch by girl in red! i have no clue where the ask went so i'm sorry about that! thank you for requesting ! i did this in headcanons because i wasn't too sure what you preferred
ellie was at your every beck and call
she couldn't help it when she got that text that just said "el... :(" she was already halfway to your apartment
all she wanted to do was comfort you in these times
she couldn't let you be sad, it made her feel awful to see your glassy eyes and wobbly lip
but she hated how you kept doing this to yourself
it was like month after month you would find a girl, fall completely in love with her, and then be crushed when they broke up with you
ellie tried to advise you to take a month or two (or forever) to collect yourself and take a break from dating
she was always met with your angry face
"you think i should just be an old maid?" ellie would roll her eyes anytime you gave her some sort of variation of that
but even when she was annoyed at those texts, she would always come over
she couldn't let you be sad all alone
that's why she was there with you again, her arm thrown over your shoulder as you cry into her chest
"you know," you groan as she begins her spiel, "you seriously need to consider taking a break from dating. clearly, the girls in the dating game right now are not good."
you pull away from her chest and notice the tear stains on her shirt
how embarrassing
you ignore it though
ellie doesn't seem to mind the stains
"what am i supposed to do, ellie?" you throw your hands up
she throws her head back, "it's really not that difficult to just not date," her eyes narrow when she looks back at you, "you gotta take time to find someone who will treat you right."
tears prick at the corners of your eyes, "i thought she was perfect! i don't want to be single... i hate that feeling."
ellie's hand guides your face to look at her again, "okay," her voice is full of resolution, "date me then. i'd treat you right."
your heart stutters
this can't be actually happening
you waited for her to do her classic 'i'm just fuckin' with ya' and start laughing but as the seconds continued on and her face stayed serious, you knew she meant it
you couldn't lie to yourself, you did find yourself staring at her forearms and hands from time to time
and she was undeniably pretty
and funny
and kind (to you at least)
a blush rises to your face but her green eyes continue to stare daggers into you
"we can do that." your voice cuts the tension
ellie smirks, "perfect."
could i get ellie as a knight in love with princess reader?
my beloved

summary: she was coming back today. after many days and nights without her, your knight was finally back.
wc: 985
cw: mentions of injury, maybe slight homophobia in a way
a/n: i literally love this trope it's my absolute favorite! thanks for your request
your fingers tapped against the book laid in front of you. your tutor was going on and on about the dull allegories hidden within the text, but you couldn't be troubled to pay much attention.
she was coming back. after many restless nights, you finally got a letter delivered addressed to you detailing where exactly she was.
if she was correct in her estimate, the group she was with should enter the palace any time now. at the latest, another hour or so. your heart swelled at the prospect of seeing her again.
your tutor clicks her tongue as she sees your eyes wandering out the window, "my lady," your head twists back to look at her, "looking out the window will not bring her any faster."
you lay your head on your hands with a sigh. there was truth to her words but all you wanted to do was will the knights to arrive, "i just pray they are safe, that is all."
she chuckles at your words, "i know your true intentions."
it wasn't said in a malicious manner, you knew she would never mean it like that, but it still made your heart pick up speed. falling in love with a knight as a princess was taboo enough. but with a woman knight? it would be hard for your to fully explain that to people.
"there they are!" she blurts suddenly while clapping her hands together. you jump out of your seat and scramble over to the window.
she was there in the front, riding in on a beautiful white horse. you couldn't see her face due to those stupid metal headgear. it was for her safety, but you were selfish. all you wanted was to see her freckled face. you were going to have to be a little more patient.
you look over at your tutor who gave you a knowing nod. she was telling you to go ahead. the books scattered on your desk were the last thing on your mind as you scurried out of the room. the hallways were bustling with maids and medics dashing to tend to the knights.
you weave through the crowd of people, trying to hide a smile that was pulling at the corners of your mouth.
your friend, who happened to be a maid, stops you with a giddy expression, "come over here!" she whispers while pulling you into a concealed corner.
"dina," your hushed whisper vibrated between the two of you, "i must go! i have to see her this instance or i will seriously explode."
she laughs, "i know, i know but," her face turns more solemn. worry spread through you, "i must let you know that she was injured."
you twist to try and get out of the corner but dina was stronger than she looked. she kept you firmly in place, "i have to go!"
"it was nothing serious!" her words cause your wriggling to stop, "she just has a slight scar on her face now. that is what i have heard from the medics."
"oh, dina. i don't care about that."
dina pats your shoulder, "yes, i'm aware. ellie can do no wrong but i just didn't want you to be stunned," she pushes your shoulder slightly, "now go see her."
not wasting a second, you dart back into the hallway, breaking through the flow of people. you had to get your tree soon or she would have to go back to training without even getting to see each other. you could not let that happen. that would be a fate worse than death for you right now.
when the outside air rolls onto your skin you feel a sudden relief wash over you. only a couple more strides and she would be there, waiting for you. the thought made you giddy.
as you breached the top of the hill, you saw her outline staring in the opposite direction of you. she was looking out on the small village you were one day going to rule over. your heart hammered against your chest. she was as gorgeous as she was when she left.
you take a couple more steps before calling out, "ellie." she jumped at your voice before turning around.
her face scrunched as if she was in pain before engulfing you in her arms, "it felt like i waited for you for an eternity out here."
you take a deep breath, reveling in how her arms felt around you, "dina pulled me aside. i would've gotten here faster if i could have."
ellie laughs and you could cry at how the sound made you feel, "that girl is always causing trouble." she pulls you from her chest so she could look at you.
your eyes go to the scar that starts at the top of her eyebrow and ends in the middle of her cheek. your fingers ghost over the healed scar. ellie smiles gently at the soft way you treat her.
"a knife wound," ellie speaks causing you to jerk away, "i let my guard down."
you rub her face and she leans into it as if she had been starving for your touch, "even with a wound like this you are still the most sensational human i've ever seen."
she shakes her head, "clearly you haven't seen yourself," her hands grab at your waist, "i missed yo-"
a booming voice echoes throughout the hill, calling for your perfect knight. she curses as a tinge of regret flickers through her eyes. ellie looks at you apologetically but you understand.
"i may have looked at the schedule of the knights," ellie looks impressed at your act of deviance, "i expected this. you may go, i am just elated we got to spend some time together."
ellie lands a kiss on your cheek, brushing your hair out of your face, "expect to see me tonight, my beloved."
i just saw ur post so i’m re-requesting an ellie fic (modern) based on the song she knows it by maggie lindermann <3

summary: ellie knows she shouldn't be flirting with you like this, but she doesn't really care
wc: 503
a/n: thank you for re-requesting lol! so sorry this got deleted :(
ellie was staring at you, you could feel her eyes on you. the guy you were seeing currently, josh, was laughing at some stupid tik tok while shoving fries into his mouth. he had barely even interacted with you the whole time you were sitting there. he wasn't even giving you the time of day right now and to ellie that was almost criminal.
but to you, that was just josh. he was dopey but he was at least kind to you (when he paid any attention to you). you look over at ellie and she gestures for you to come over to where she was.
"josh," he didn't look up from his phone but hummed to acknowledge you, "my friend, she's looking over here so i'm gonna go say hello to her. i'll be real quick."
"hmm." was his response. you didn't take it to heart. or at least you tried to convince yourself you didn't.
the seat skidded across the cafeteria floor making a nasty sound before you made your way over to ellie.
you couldn't even sit down before she was making a snide remark, "are the fries that good? he hasn't even looked at you." you roll your eyes at her while sitting down.
"that's just josh, els." she leans back in her seat, tapping the table with her hands before sitting back up straight. she leans her head against her hands.
"if i was in his position, i'd stare at you for hours. you are too pretty for him," you try to ignore the heat that's both blooming in your face and abdomen at her words, "let me show you how a real partner is supposed to be."
her hand reaches out to grab yours but you jerk it away. you flitter your eyes over to josh but he didn't notice anything. his eyes were still glued on his stupid phone. irritation started to build while you continued to gaze at him. he really didn't care, did he? all that mattered were those stupid fries and his phone.
your eyes go back over to ellie who has a smug look on her features. she leans back in, "he wouldn't even notice. we could probably fuck in front of him and he wouldn't-"
you smack at her arm, standing up abruptly, "it will never happen, williams."
ellie stands up alongside you, tilting her head to the side cockily, "never say never. i know that look on your face," she gestures to the way your face is red and eyebrows pinched, "when the day comes and you realize josh is an idiot, you know where to find me, baby."
ellie grabs her bag with a smirk before she brushes past you. when she passes josh she greets him to which he greets back excitedly.
it was almost laughable with what she just said to you.
you didn't know why your heart was pounding like this or why you couldn't take your eyes off of her back as she walked away.
p.u.n.k girl!!

summary: the times you have while dating ellie
wc: 1.1k
a/n: based off the amazing song "p.u.n.k girl" by heavenly! i recommend it a lot!!
p is for the painful way she makes me feel some days.
fighting with ellie wasn't all that common. the two of you were exceptionally good at communicating, opting to talk through problems before going into a full-fledged fight. but there were just some days when ellie woke up with a short fuse. she tried to distance herself during those days, feeling awful for even doing that, but today you wouldn't let her have time to herself to decompress.
she had snapped at you after you continued to be clingy. ellie has asked you to give her just a tiny bit of space. you clambered off of her arm and she felt her body relax. this was all she wanted. when she felt the air suddenly shift, though, that's when she knew she completely fucked up. her eyes trailed over to yours, ready to apologize for her outburst, when she noticed the tears springing to your eyes.
ellie hated when you cried. it made her feel like a complete and total bitch. when your bottom lip started wobbling she knew she had to get over her mood to comfort you no matter what.
you would push her but it wasn't enough to actually move her, "i thought you wanted to be alone!"
ellie's hand would smooth over your hair whispering apologies. you would try to fight it for a couple more minutes but finally, you would relax into her touch. tears would drip from your eyes onto her sweatshirt.
god, she hated when you cried. it made her heart clench in her chest.
"i'm sorry baby," she kissed the crown of your head, "shouldn't have snapped like that."
u is for utopia, the other times with her.
ellie held the spoon to your lips, which you opened with no hesitation. the smooth caramel flavor of the ice cream hit your tongue causing you to exclaim in approval. your eyes were wide as you looked at her.
"fuckin' awesome, right?" she looks proud of her ice cream selection. her spoon dips into the bowl again to get a scoop for herself.
the ice cream parlor was dead except for the two of you. it was the dead of winter with snow twirling around outside. the both of you were bundled up. it made no sense to be here at this time.
the worker looked at you like you guys needed to be locked up in an asylum, but you didn't care.
ice cream was always welcome.
you take a bit of your brownie-flavored ice cream, "next time we come here i'm getting your flavor. that shit is awesome."
she smiles, "wanna come again tomorrow?"
you could almost hear the worker's eyes rolling.
n is for the new-wave dreams she had back in her teens.
ellie has all of her old school projects spread out on her bed, a cheesy smile gracing her lips as she looks at them. they were mostly to do with space. you wondered if that's all she kept. there was one book report but it was crinkled off to the side, it looked as if she had shoved it in the bottom of her closet. the rest were her pristine condition poster boards explaining the galaxies and solar systems.
"whaddya think?" she is nearly bouncing with excitment as her hand touches a random part of the poster board.
you fall over, nuzzling her neck to stifle a chuckle, "god, why are you so cute?"
she grabs your shoulders, pulling you back and shaking you, "cute?! cute..!!!" her voice growls as she strains it, "i'm so not cute..."
you laugh at the pout that replaces the smile, "you are actually pouting right now. you are so cute."
ellie crosses her arms, "you are cuter. like by 100 times- no, like, 300 times!"
you roll your eyes, focusing back on the poster boards, "why did you do so many on space? i knew you liked it but they are the only ones you kept." you notice her pushing the book report off of the bed.
nerd.
ellie leans against the wall, her arms falling in her lap, "i wanted to work at NASA. well, i knew i wasn't smart enough for NASA or close enough to them but i wanted to do something similar. so, i focused on science fairs and stuff like that. i hoped i would get noticed by an organization."
your chest swells. you would do anything to go back in time so you could see teenage ellie putting her entire effort into the science fairs. you could imagine her winning, a goofy smile going over her freckled face. you wondered if she jumped up and down before she retrieved an award or if she tried to be calm. you bet she poured her entire attention over these projects, neglecting everything else. that was the ellie style.
joel had to have been so excited when she would come home with new awards. he was always so proud of her.
"my little space girl." ellie beams at that nickname.
k is for the kid in her.
ellie weaves in and out of the crowd that's separating her from her favorite thing. she has a red backpack bouncing on her back and she can faintly hear you yelling, 'god, els! wait up!' but there was only one objective on her mind.
beat the little snotty kids in front of her so she could be in the first row to see the dinosaur animatronics. it was a new attraction that had come to your city and when you surprised her with tickets she almost passed out. ellie didn't let go of you for hours after. she would say 'thank you, baby' every couple minutes as she planted little kisses on your neck.
she had been anticipating this for weeks, and no crotch goblin was gonna take her spot. there were only a couple more kids she had to pass to be the first person. she slowed her full bolt to a speed walk now as she noticed the mothers giving her a nasty look.
she felt your hand on her bare shoulder, "jesus! you are fucking fast."
ellie still has her eyes on the front of the line but she does slow down a little bit more so your legs could keep up, "i gotta get up front."
your chuckle makes her smile. she loves that sound, "els, you are like a foot taller than most of these kids. you will be able to see."
you were right. she knew you were right.
but her legs kept their pace.
she had to see the dinosaurs up close.
random ellie hcs

a/n: just a little something while i finish up falling in love at a coffee shop pt 4! i hit 600 followers the other day so i wanna say thank you for that! sorry ive been slow and requests haven't been coming out :(
she would watch every single movie you told her to watch
it didn't look interesting to her? she sat next to you and watched it.
was too cheesy? she was watching it to see your smile
ellie is not the biggest fan of horror movies
but especially the PARANORMAL kind...
she can deal with slashers and gore and stuff
but a ghost??
LITERALLY HAS HER CLUTCHING HER HEART
she would be sooo jumpy for like a week after watching paranormal activity with you
cannot even look at the exorcist girl without feeling sick
i also see her having a letterboxd and she would take the ratings and reviews she gives very seriously
would craft a whole essay about how the movie made her felt
she would comment on like one shot and rave about it
you would just laugh at her
ellie WOULD not take other people's reviews to heart though
gets really offended when other people rate one of her favorites low
"clearly, they don't have taste for the finer things in life."
and she gets all pouty
just because someone rated the hunger games as a 2.5
ellie is also the type of person to stick her tongue out when she's super concentrated
one night she was helping you with dinner
she was put on cutting onions
and you would look over and her damn tongue would be poking out the side of her mouth
how cute!!!
would blush and DENYYYY it when you brought it up
but she knows she does it
her lips are always dry because of it

part three
The phone buzzing against the desk was seriously starting to distract you. It had been going off incessantly since you left Ellie's house in a rush, and you just assumed it was her wanting to explain her side of the story. To be honest, you didn't really want to hear it. Your heart felt like it was torn into two earlier this morning. But you should've known, someone that attractive and funny and kind had to come with some sort of baggage. You just didn't expect it to be a whole girlfriend.
Your thumbnail was sitting in between your teeth as you slightly nibbled on it. Dina was laying across from you with worry etched into her features. She was usually amazing with words, never having trouble gossiping or giving advice, but when you came storming in with tears about to fall over your lash line, she couldn't quite find the words to console you. She awkwardly stammered until she realized all you wanted was moral support.
The phone had only been silent for a minute before it started buzzing again. You groan, sitting up to finally grab the stupid device. The buttons on the side were squeezed under your fingers until you could swipe to fully cut off the phone.
Now it couldn't bother you anymore.
Dina sits up, staring at you with pity, "Would it hurt to just hear her out, maybe? Didn't you say you heard her say something about breaking up?"
You gnaw on your bottom lip, "I can't," Dina seems upset at your choice, "Seeing that girl, Cat I think, in front of Ellie was like a slap in the face. She could've been lying about breaking up, Dee. I just don't know." You sigh, crossing your arms to try and soothe yourself a bit.
Dina jumps off of the bed and makes her way to you, a grin spreading over her lips as if she just thought of the best idea. Knowing Dina, you had a feeling about what she was about to say.
"Wanna get trashed?"
--
The bar was packed even though it was a random Tuesday night. Sounds of college-aged people screaming the song playing filled your ears and chatting with their friends filled your ears. Dina had already shimmied to the bar, ordering a drink for you and for her, before making her way to the dance floor. She was gone with the wind now. You only hoped she would make it back to your dorm without you dragging her home. You decided to keep a low profile and hang by one of the back walls. It was better that way.
You didn't feel like dancing away your inner struggles. Realistically, you needed to talk to Ellie about this. But how could you just call her up when you ignored her for a whole day? A shiver went down your spine when you thought about the conversation that was going to have to take place.
A part of you was still mad at Ellie. You didn't want to have the conversation. But you were going to have to be mature about it one day. You couldn't just ignore her forever.
A voice cut your running thoughts off, "Aren't you?" You turn around to meet Jesse's eyes, "Hey, it is you! How ya' doing?" As kind as ever, he gives you a side hug while enthusiastically greeting you.
"I'm good!" You shout over the music. He motions to the cup in your hand and you nod, "Some sort of tequila."
He grimaces, "Oh, lord. You tryin' to die or somethin'?"
You purse your lips, "Yeah. Something like that."
Jesse pats your shoulder while laughing off your statement, "How did things go with Ellie? Man, she was so excited about it." His hands shoot up to gesture, "That's all she could talk about last shift was how you were gonna go over to her place. She was like a kid in a candy store!"
Your heart shatters. It felt awful to ignore her like that and a part of you wondering if you were acting crazy. Ellie said she could explain, yet, you just left her. Then you turned your phone off as if you couldn't give her the time of day.
Your eyebrows pinch, "It was good... until..." The words die in your throat. Jesse was a good friend of Ellie's and you had come to get pretty acquainted with him but was he a good one to confide in?
His face falls into confusion, "Until?" You see a flash of concern before his face returns to the original confusion.
"Until," You bite the bullet. Now is as good of a time as ever to pour your heart out, "Until her ex or maybe girlfriend? Until whatever she was came over. I totally left Ellie after not giving her a moment to explain. I'm starting to feel like a little bit of a bitch about it..." A fake half-laugh comes out to deflect how truly awful you felt.
Jesse's eyes widen and he sets his drink down, fully turning toward you, "Woah, woah. Was her name Cat?"
You nod and Jesse rubs his hands over his face. The loud techno music silents his hushed curses before he grabs your wrist to drag you out of the bar. The drink in your hand flies out as your legs try to keep up with his wide stride. Your eyes scan the room until you see Dina — who is cheering you on? She looks at you with a thrilled expression before giving you a thumbs up.
Oh my God.
Words of protest spew out of your mouth, trying to get him to just slow down yet Jesse only walks faster. Once you make it to the parking garage he turns back to you. You just hope he ignores the way you are trying to catch your breath.
Jesse starts to fidget with his hands as if he's thinking over what he's about to say.
Your anxiety spikes when he finally asks you what he wanted.
"Is it okay if I take you to Ellie's?"
--
The ride over to Ellie's house felt as if it took forever. The beating in your chest almost had you sick as you thought of all the possible things that could happen. What if Ellie completely rejected you after this? What if she looked at you with disgust and contempt when she opened her door? What if that Cat girl answers the door instead? You slide down farther into the passenger seat as the anxiety-ridden thoughts became too much.
You were beginning to recognize the area. It didn't make you feel any better — it just meant you were that much closer to having to be mature and talk through what happened. As much as you enjoyed hiding from those complicated feelings, you couldn't do that right now.
Jesse taps his steering wheel while taking in a deep breath, "Look, I know you're nervous and all but... you really shouldn't be," You lift your head to look at him, "She's really into you. I think she will be over the moon that you decided to talk this out face to face."
You purse your lips, "Yeah, but what if she isn't? I left in a completely bitchy way."
Jesse shakes his head, "Trust me, I would've done the same thing if I woke up to Cat's shrill whining."
You were slightly taken aback, "What do you mean by that?"
"I think it's better if Ellie explains that to you."
The air from the vents blows on your face, warming it up. The city lights slowly started to disappear behind you.
"If I know anything about Ellie," His car goes into park. Your head whips to your right and there it was — her house, "She loves giving second chances. Now, go talk this through. I do not wanna deal with a mopey Ellie tomorrow." He jokes around. His words made you feel somewhat better but as you opened the car door and the cool air hits your face, the anxious feeling started to creep up again.
The steps took you a good 30 seconds to get up — stopping every so often to look back at Jesse's car to which he would lift his hands in a supportive motion. Like a father telling their son to, 'go get 'em, tiger!' except he wasn't your dad and you weren't ready to get 'em.
When the large oak door is finally in front of your face, you turn around one last time but Jesse's car was pulling off now. At least he waited until you were fully on the doorstep. It was now or never.
Never sounded pretty good.
Working up courage was never your strong front and god, you wished Dina was beside you to knock on the door but she wasn't. You were going to have to do this. Your hand makes contact with the door producing three heavy raps against the door.
She doesn't answer. She doesn't answer for a while. There isn't even a sign of life behind the door. All you hear is the cars honking faintly where you came from.
You begin to feel hopeless. Deciding to give her one final chance, you knock even louder this time. When you hear rustling on the other side of the door, your stomach lurched.
"Coming..." Her voice sounded solemn. A grimace pulled at your features at the sound. You caused that.
The door swung open, it seemed like she didn't even look into the peephole, and she openly gawked at you for a couple seconds — a dusty pink rose underneath the smattering of freckles on her cheeks. Her socked foot tapped against the wooden floor as she leaned against the door. She finally snapped out of her catatonic state.
"Uh," She voices first, "What are you doing... here?" The words were strangled as they came out.
You take your bottom lip in between your teeth. There was no dancing around this, "Can we talk? About this morning?"
Ellie perks up a bit. There is a look of pain still lingering but she looks more eager to share what actually happened. You were eager to hear it.
"Yeah," She opens the door further, waving you to come in, "Please come in. It's cold."
Stepping inside her house gave you a weird feeling. There was such a great memory inside of here but also one that left you with the worst bitter taste in your mouth. You wanted nothing more than to make more amazing memories in here but you needed to hear what exactly happened this morning.
Ellie guides you to the couch, the couch where you talked for hours, which looked as if she had lived on it for the past 10 hours. There were blankets stacked upon each other while water bottles were littered along the table in front of the couch. You saw the noise cancelling headphones strewn on the table and figured that's why she didn't answer.
You sit down on the edge, rubbing your hands on the front of your thighs. Ellie joins you except she is leaning back on the couch but you can tell with how she's wringing her hands, she's just as nervous.
"I guess the most burning question I have is," Ellie sits up at the sound of your voice. Like she was ready to give you any answer you needed, "Who was she? Why did she seem so hurt by me being here?"
Ellie clears her throat, hands tapping on her leg now as she searches for the right words, "That was Cat, my ex-girlfriend," It would be a lie to say you didn't feel some sort of relief at that, "She is having a hard time coming to terms with that, though. As you saw, she still frequently comes to my house even if I tell her not to." Ellie gives a pained laugh before flicking her eyes over to you to gauge your reaction.
You sigh at that, "How long has it been? Since you broke up?"
"Oh," Ellie scoffs, "A while. It's been around.... 7 months? 7 and a half? Long enough. Jesse calls her a pimple that just won't leave." It suddenly makes sense why Jesse wanted you to come talk to her.
A tension lifts off of your shoulders at that. Ellie wasn't playing you for a fool. She just had a clingy ex. Your hand reaches out to grab hers, which she lets happen without any sort of resistance. Ellie even looks at you while a smile tugs at the corners of her lips.
Guilt settles deep within your chest now. You wanted to smile back but the dreadful emotion was eating at your chest. Ellie notices how your body went from relaxed to tense again. She twists back to you.
"Hey, you've gone rigid on me again," She jokes, her hand soothingly stroking your forearm, "What's wrong? Please, tell me or ask me anything. I'll say it all. I don't wanna keep secrets."
Your eyes flicker over to meet hers, tears brimming your waterline. Ellie shakes her head at the sight as if she's telling you not to cry. But the tears still sit in your lash line, threatening to spill over. Ellie's hand comes up to cup your face while the hand holding your hand squeezes tightly trying to reassure you.
You try to blink away the tears but instead one drips down causing Ellie to coo, "I feel like a bitch, Ellie. Didn't even give you the chance-"
Ellie cuts you off, "I wouldn't have given me a chance to explain either," Her voice wobbles a bit, "I don't blame you, who wants to get woken up by that? I just was scared I, fuck is it too early? Whatever, I was scared I lost you this morning."
You purse your lips at that while you shake your head. Ellie continues, "I know we haven't known each other for a while but I want to continue to see you. I think... I think I really like you." Her face flushes a bright red as she says that. Her palm precipitates a light sheen of sweat while she waits for your response. You can see her mentally preparing for the rejection.
You decided not to keep her waiting. She had done enough waiting today, "I want to continue to see you too."
The beaming expression she gives you clears any guilty emotions you had lingering. Now you just needed to show Ellie how much you liked her.

I had this random fic idea where reader and ellie go to a spiritual/metaphysical shop. ellie finds it so cute how the reader is so excited about buying books and crystals. the crystal reader really wants is a little pricey so she decides not to buy it but ellie goes back for it 🫶😭 (sorry for this horrible explanation but if ur looking for ideas i thought this was a cute one)
a/n: thank you for requesting!! i did this in headcanons i hope that's okay <333 i absolutely love going into the crystal shop that's near me even though i have no clue what anything really is haha so this was fun to write!
ellie would have zero clue what you were talking about when you mentioned a "crystal shop"
she was like ???
but anything for you! so she loaded you up in her car, buckled you in, turned on the loudest music ever, and drove through the city to get you to where you wanted
she really enjoyed the vibe of the store, the plants and incense burning was 100% up her alley
ellie took a couple interior design notes as she walked around
you were bouncing off the walls excitedly touching the crystals that were out and then pointing at the ones that were on display
"this is rose quartz, it's the crystal for love!"
ellie would furrow her brows and say, "you don't need that, though. im right here."
like!!
you just roll your eyes, "but it's pink?"
ellie just crosses her arms knowing she can't win if its pink
you looked around some more but a stone caught your eye
it was behind a glass display so it was more expensive
it was a hunk of lapis lazuli and it was gorgeous, the light caught it perfectly showing how it sparkled
you were staring at it for a full minute before you turned to get ellie's attention (who was looking through the sapphic love spell book btw)
"ellie look at pretty that is."
she is also intrigued by it, "woah... how much is it? that would look good on our mantel."
you tried not to get giddy at how domestic that sounded while you looked for the price tag behind the glass
when your eyes met the number your blood went cold
"holy hell, it's 2,500."
the two of you gawked for a bit at the absurd price until you decided to take your smaller stones to the register
bye bye to the stunning lapis lazuli... until you met in a different life
well that's what you thought
until you came home a week later to the exact crystal sitting on your mantel with a proud ellie staring at it, hands on her hips
"whaddya think?!" she exclaims, eyes twinkling
you punch her shoulder but it wasn't even hard enough to make her budge, "i think you are insane!! that was a horrible financial choice."
she laughs, "money is fleeting but a huge chunk of.... lapel lachuli? now that... that is forever."
ellie didn't even know the name of the crystal but all she knew was you looked at it a little too much
that's all she needed to know
