Just started reading Sherlock Holmes and all the adaptations are wrong. This man is a delight. He gets excited about hemoglobin and is ecstatic at the thought of Watson as a roommate. He purposefully forgets how the solar system works so he has more room in his brain for crime. He shows Watson the dirt stains on his trousers and he can tell what part of London they come from based on color and consistency. (As far as i can tell Watson didn't ask, Sherlock just gets back from walks and tells Watson about the stains unprompted.) The text specifically says "Holmes was certainly not a difficult man to live with." Why does every adaptation make him unpleasant and rude, he's literally just eccentric. He's such a goober, I love him.
Sherlock Holmes should never be the narrator. Never ever ever ever ever. For many obvious storytelling and consistency reasons, but also because when he's the one narrating, he loses all his mystique.

another thing about steves ending thats so baffling is how they keep calling it a “happy” ending for HIM when like it literally sounds like a NIGHTMARE. your wifes going to work Every Day dealing with SO much and you just sit back and watch bc you CANT do shit Knowing its all for NOTHING bc hydra has been infiltrating her organization the whole time??? you wake up every day and you Know your best friend is getting tortured right that EXACT minute, and you just continue having breakfast or whatever??? like knowing steve, how does he literally NOT go insane?? that sounds like a prison where you just have to watch while every regret you ever had plays out in front of you every day. HOW is this a Good ending for him??? and theres no alternate timeline where he fixed everything bc he settled down and grew old in the SAME timeline so it really is just an entire mess
I love how Alex experiments with characters.
He writes well rounded characters so well, and tmc really sigs into character motivations and fears.
It's just so interesting to see what makes the characters tick, and Alex writes it so so well. How they handle the absolutely horrific situations, how they interact with other characters while in basically emotional turmoil, how they try and reason with things, how they handle information, etc etc.
It's just so. Fucking. Good.
