CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE III (2023) ㅤ→ㅤ Commander Farah Karim & Lieutenant Simon 'Ghost' Riley
My COD roman empire without fail is watches. I feel like I'm the only person who cares so much about everyone's watches but I don't care, I spend too much time thinking about it. It's one of those character design things that I love. Let me explain
Gaz is the only character we see that wears his watch with the face on the inside of his left wrist. The watch on the left means that he is right-handed. Wearing a watch on the inside of the wrist is relatively common for military personnel because it keeps the watch face from hitting the sun so there's no glint, and it allows you to see the time while holding a gun so it's not shocking that he chooses to wear his like this. Gaz is the only character we see do this though, which is particularly interesting in a team such as the 141 who often deals with counterterrorism and places themselves in low-profile situations. In the game we also never see Gaz covering the position of a sniper, he's always the one in the field. Out of the four of them it would make the most sense for Gaz to be someone who wears his watch on the outside since he is able to move his hands relatively freely in the field so he could easily turn his wrist if he wanted the time, but he doesn't. He makes the choice to wear his watch on the inside.
Price and Soap both wear theirs on the outside of their left wrists. Again, right-handed. Soap follows the same logic as my argument about why Gaz could wear his watch on the outside but he also has the added bonus of doing demolitions work. When working on explosives it's more likely that Soap would be looking at the back of his hands than the palms which would place his watch face in his view. Out of everyone, Soap's watch placement actually makes the most sense.
Again, following the same logic as Gaz but opposite this time because Price is more often than not providing cover as a sniper, which would make the most sense for him to wear his watch on the inside, but, again, he doesn't. Also as the team's captain of all people, he should know the time at all times so that he is able to coordinate things with his team but he has to flip his wrist (taking his hand off his gun) to know the time.
Ghost, I think is the most interesting because he actually wears his watch on the outside of his right wrist. Based on just the position of it I would say that he's left-handed but nothing else about him presents that way. His pistol is holstered on his right leg and when we see him holding one he carries it in his right hand. When he has a larger gun he also holds it right-handed (that is right hand on the trigger) he doesn't present as someone who is left-handed. It's possible that he is ambidextrous and simply shoots as a right-handed person would but we don't get any more evidence of that. Ghost's watch placement actually makes the least sense when you consider that he's usually a sniper, because while Price has to rotate his wrist to see the time there's no way that Ghost can tell time as a sniper because there's no way he's taking his right hand off the trigger to turn his wrist to tell the time. So either he's switching his shooting hand which doesn't make any sense or he simply cannot tell time which also doesn't make sense. There is possibly a backstory reason for why he wears his watch like that but if there is I don't know it and I would really like to because it genuinely bothers me so much.
Farah doesn't wear a watch at all which you would think- similar to Price- as a leader, it would be important for her to know the time but it's not a case of inconvenience she literally has no way of telling the time unless she has some sort of pocket watch or something on her person. She would have to ask someone else, likely Alex (who does wear a watch, outside of the left wrist in case you're wondering because of course I had to check) for the time if she wanted to know.
As far as I am aware we don't see Laswell wearing a watch. It could be that she doesn't wear one or just that we don't see it because almost every time we see her we either don't see her wrist because of the camera shot or she's wearing something that covers her wrist. I can't imagine that someone like Laswell wouldn't know the time at any given moment of the day so I'm just going to assume that she has one and we can't see it. I'm also going to assume that she would wear it on the outside of her left wrist as I believe that she's right handed based on the way we see her pick things up and how she carries her gun. I'm saying likely the outside as well because we often see Laswell on a computer or working on some paperwork which would place the back of her hand upward (same argument I made with Soap) so it would make more sense for her watch to face outside. Laswell is also the most civilian of all of them so she is more likely to follow civilian customs like wearing your watch on the outside.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk please ask me to talk about it more because I will
Alright, I invite you all to consider: Alejandro with naturally curly hair
Even Rodolfo didn’t know
They find out one morning when Alejandro decided he was way too tired to deal with it. He’s in his thirties, damnit, he can just not spend an hour on his hair
He walks into the dining area where everyone is eating breakfast
Dead silence
It was actually decently loud a moment before, so this is startling
Everyone just stares at Alejandro
Laswell, Alex, and Farah make a “huh” face and go back to their conversation
Valeria isn’t sure what to say, so of course her first instinct is to ask what the fuck happened to his hair
Ghost immediately covers Soap’s eyes and glares at Alejandro, because goddamn, he needs at least a fucking chance.
Soap thinks it’s cool but Alejandro still isn’t really his type. Still jokingly flirts with him when Ghost uncovers his eyes to make Ghost jealous
Rodolfo has not said a word or blinked this entire time by the way
Price is about to have a conversation with him about changing his looks because “goddamnit, there’s a rule against that!”
Gaz is… not coping well. Every time he gets a moment to breathe, someone is reminding him just how gay he is
Alejandro definitely notices and flirts with him in Spanish and Gaz turns dark red
Price tells him to stop messing with the poor kid and Alex is about to beg Alejandro to straighten his hair again, “please man, I have so little
Roach is also bright fucking red and he just kind of excuses himself
Rodolfo still has not said a fucking word
Valeria pokes him and he screams and immediately covers his face, embarrassed, and runs out of the room
Valeria laughs loudly
Graves speaks up and says he liked it better before

Farah Karim (And Alex :3)
Okaaaaay, I've got so many questions about the moment when Price is apologizing to Kate for... For what, btfw??
What's the deal between Farah and Laswell anyway?

Is Farah Kate's wife's ex or something?..

Barbie and just Ken😋
Farah fell first but Alex fell harder, your honor.

Lowkey was thinking about making a Greatest Showman AU for COD. I have brainrot...
It would be featuring Ghostsoaproach as the main pairing, and Ghost taking Hugh Jackman's place but with a twist on the plot. Idk if people would be interested in it though.
(Yes Gaz & Farah & The Ghost Team will be in it.)
update on the valor chronicles & azraels wing:: the outlines have been officially drawn up for Azrael's Wing, and I'm doing a first draft of it as we speak!! for the valor chronicles (COD Supernatural/Paranormal/Cryptid) I am still working out some flaws with the plot and outline, along with deciding what route I want to go down on. If you guys have any suggestions for what creatures I should do certain COD guys (and girls) drop it into my ask box. ((Please try to stay away from other COD Artists & Writers ideas on the AU. I don't want to copy anyone.))
AZRAEL'S WING {Intro}
Obligatory Trigger Warnings: Blood, Gore, Horror, Body Horror. Semi-Inaccurate Medical Information. Murder. Suicide. Cannibalism. Violence. Loss/Grief. PTSD/Trauma. Food Insecurity. Emotional Distress. Mental Health Struggles. Social Isolation. Political Oppression. Attempted Genocide. Disruption of Normalcy. Child Labor. I mean, the list can go on, this is what I imagine would happen if the government basically turned against it's citizens and tried to kill them all, but failed and now people are trapped due to rampant viruses and disease.
If any of the above makes you even slightly uncomfortable, then this series is NOT for you. This is a DEAD DOVE: DO NOT EAT. For that reason, if you're a minor, please do not read this series. THIS IS PURELY FICTION, ANY LIKENESS TO ANY REAL WORLD EVENTS IS ACCIDENTAL.
Linked below is a document purely made for this Tumblr series. It's for people to be able to go back and reference it, and learn a little about the world the characters have found themselves in. This is all original lore I have written for a novel I have scrapped, so I hope you all enjoy.

Life flickers across the screen, a young man is sitting in a room with three men sleeping behind him. His hair is shaggy, and a dark charcoal color. His eyes, unlike his appearance, are bright and filled with the smallest spark of hope. The boy couldn't have been more than 19. His green eyes look over the camera he was using for the recording, his hands are held out, soft palms turned calloused, as if it was to catch the camera if it fell. "Okay, I think... I think it's working." He sighs, and sits backwards slowly, putting his hands in his lap as he looks at the camera, his eyes glazing over in thought. This was obviously poorly planned. "I am Hesh Walker, and I am apart of the Seraphims of Xalar. This is a video to the world. We're alive. The government, they turned against us. They're denying us food, water, shelter, medicine... the list can go on." Hesh takes a deep breath, breath hitching on a choked sob. The video gets cut as he reaches forwards, frantically grabbing the camera. The next video, is a video of a forest. Hesh sitting on a stump of a chopped tree as he looks into the camera. "Okay, take two. I am David Walker, son of Elias Walker, the Scarecrow." He seems more confident, takes a slower inhale than before. "I am a leader within a group of survivors of the Collapse. We're being led by a man by the name of Ghost." He lets out a soft laughter. "Ironic, really..." He mutters under his breath. "We are a group of survivors well within the hundreds. We have women, men and children. We require immediate extraction. The government has turned their backs against their people." Hesh looks down, wringing his hands in a subtle display of discomfort and even nervousness. "I don't want to die here." The final video, is a masked man with Hesh's eyes looking at the camera. He's sitting at a table in front of a window, the sun must have been setting, because it was getting darker outside, but the sky was still holding on a semblance of light. Dark storm clouds were in the distance, as the man sat in the chair. His emotions were unreadable from the mask, but the way his arm laid haphazardly on the table, his legs spread in a way to take up too much space, the man was more than comfortable where he was. With who he was. Smoke bellows out from the mask. He must have taken a drag of a cigarette before this. "This is Michael, a Seraphim Leader of Xalar." The man starts, leaning forwards, his arms coming to rest on his knees, hands clasped together. "This is a message to the world. The United States have fallen. Dust and rubble is what remains. Xalar, is all what remains on the East Coast. We have set up a farm, and partially rebuilt an entire city while you all have done nothing. You all watched the lights go out and the people go silent, and have not even bothered to send any sort of transmission to ask what has happened." The man scoffs incredulously, shaking his head in what seems to be disbelieving anger. "Some of the very best PMC and military personnel have been trapped in this special slice of hell, waiting for someone to come extract us and the civilians we have been protecting. It has become clear to us that the rest of you will not be coming for us." The man leans forwards, his eyes narrowing, voice dropping to a dangerous tone full of promise. "So when we rise from the ashes, don't bother asking help from us. This is my official resignation from the Special Operatives team called The Ghosts. Michael, over and out."

Review & Rant Concerning MW3 Reboot
**This has Spoilers for MW3. If you have not played the full game and care about spoilers, please do not read.**
To preface this, hi!! I'm Max is a Well, and I am a writer. I have not published any novels, but I do have one in the works. I have written for plenty of people, including some pretty big fanfiction authors [past tense] (not as impressive as most, but I quite enjoyed it), and I have written my fair share of fan artworks, and then a few half published WIPs are floating around the internet somewhere. I've been writing since I was like, 12 years old. I've done it for the better part of my life now, and I've turned some heads with my writing. If circumstances were better where I could pursue this passion for full-time, I'd probably be really well off by now. All this to say, I'm very much someone who knows a lot about writing, story pacing, emotions dramatics and the whole 9 yards.
I love playing games and immersing myself within what's happening in game, and I got that feeling from MW1 & 2, but 3 was just, a little rough feeling. I can't quite explain it, but it just didn't have the same vibe as the first or second. I enjoyed the narrative although, again really rough story telling. (You're gonna get that in games like this that are essentially propaganda for a certain cause or organization, so I disregard most of it. It's the "look this is cool guys! You wanna do this," kind of thing.)
Then, Price didn't let Soap kill Makarov. Standing from a narrative point of view, we were told this guy 1, is extremely dangerous extremist, and threatening to bring WW3 onto humanity. 2, Brass is worried about this, and if they're worried about it, than we need to be too. (This solidifies that the man is a genuine threat, and that he needs to be treated as such. Often this means, a straight up get rid of this guy.) 3, Price and the 141 have some history with Makarov. Then, to build off this, in the previous game, MW2, we literally were on a to-kill mission for Hassan. So if Makarov is an even bigger threat than Hassan, (and Hassan had MISSILES), then, shouldn't we have killed Makarov when given the chance?
Also to build off this, they are all within the SAS, or have passed SAS selection. They are, narratively speaking, the best of the best within their specific branch. They are more than well trained and specialists when it comes to Counter-Terrorism, which with that would come with knowing things like how to properly debilitate your enemy, knock them out, etc. They would have had done interrogations to get specific information and you can't just bring someone awake to a location to be interrogated. You would have to knock them out or debilitate them prior before moving. Yet, they didn't do any of that. Just, knocked his ass to the ground after a stab to the shoulder.
None of it past a certain point makes any sense narratively, and me as a writer is so fucking pissed. They made Makarov a fucking badass and BBEG for the century, yet they kill off arguably one of the best liked characters? Especially after Neil did so much advertising for the fans and even doing the corny Christmas thing that was all over COD TikTok for a few good weeks afterwards. People were going WILD over the Scot, and Ghost.
One thing you learn pretty quickly when creating content, whether it be games, art, comics, novels, etc... is that you got to feed your fanbase from time to time. You give them an inch, and you'll get a mile. No one needed to die within the third game, especially when it felt so rushed. If they really needed the suspense, then they could have easily injured Soap, and kept us wondering if he was alive, and then revealed him okay within the fourth installment. That would have made people buy the game just to see if their favorite was still around, and who knows, maybe they'd actually enjoy the story and decide to play the rest of the game.
What really pissed me off other than the weird pacing of the stretch of the game is the way they reacted to Soap's death. Now, they didn't have to be horribly torn up at it like Price in the original series, in fact, that would be horribly unrealistic. My mother is a hospice nurse, so she's gotten close to a lot of patients that have passed. Some being really traumatic and saddening ways. She can't cry anymore, but she does grieve, and she grieves hard when it's a patient she's had for a while and gotten close to. You can't look me in the eyes, and tell me these three men who have just spent a year and some change chasing down Hassan, and now Makarov, wouldn't show no emotion when it came to one of their own dying?
Soldiers are friends but more. There's a whole reason there's the saying "brothers in arms" exists. They go through hell and back together, they definitely did in Las Almas, and during Chicago in the second game. So to have barely 2 minutes worth of a cutscene to pay homage to a character that they all bonded so deeply with? I genuinely thought people were seriously joking about it, and then I saw it with my own two eyes and I'm appalled on how they thought that was a good send off both emotionally and narratively. It did nothing. It didn't comfort you, it didn't sound like they were grieving too terribly, it was just, flat. Monotonous. There was hardly any emotion in the lines, and the guys didn't have to be crying, but at least put some emotion in it.
Ghost and Gaz arguably in the reboot are the closest to Soap, so some sort of emotion, like Ghost being just a little choked up on his "Rest in Peace, Johnny" would have been just top tier. You would have been able to gauge so much off of that, and it would have fed the Ghost and Soap fangirls so much. (I know some COD players don't like to hear that, but the fandom shifting is a normal thing to happen, and the new people within the fandom are buying the games to play them just to understand the story and that is absolutely helping the studio and the games preform better. To put it simply, they are now also apart of the integral part of keeping COD alive and well.) Or, Gaz instead of just saying the most generic army farewell thing in the world, instead make a personal promise to bring Makarov to his knees himself. Again, it would gauge so much with his character, how he's feeling, what this death is doing to him, and what his personal goals are moving forwards.
They absolutely, from a narrative position could have done so much better. There are always going to be bugs and glitches in games, especially shooters, but the thing that draws people in and keeps them coming back, is the story and the characters. At the end of the day, this was not only a horrible story decision, but also is probably going to hurt them a lot when concerning the next game release. The newer crowd hardly has a reason to come back to see the new game. If Soap, a beloved character was treated this way, how are they going to treat Price, Gaz or Ghost if they die? I'm incredibly disappointed, they had an amazing story, amazing VA's, amazing graphics and design. The COD fandom was seriously getting a much needed breath of fresh air, new life was coming in, and they just tossed everything out the window.
TL;DR:: As a writer, the decision to kill off Soap was extremely horrible from both a monetary and narrative standpoint. It didn't move the story forwards, create any friction, and he didn't even have a decent send off. This is probably going to kill the new growth the COD fandom was experiencing, which in turn is definitely going to hit the studio's pockets. How much is yet to be seen, but I've seen a lot of new-blood say they weren't satisfied and aren't looking at purchasing the next game. Me included.
Be on the lookout for the Chronic Trials series/Brave The Storm fic. I have a draft I am writing and it's gonna be a good one people >:)

i was gonna caption this "back on my call of duty bs!!" then i remembered i've literally never posted CoD art here before LMAO
